The UE Boom 3 and MegaBoom 3 give the iconic speakers their first redesign in years
Since they launched in 2013, Ultimate Ears’ Boom speakers have been some of the most recognizable Bluetooth speakers around, and they set something of a standard for what a rugged, portable speaker should look and sound like. UE has updated a few things here and there over the years with the UE Boom 2 and the addition of the larger MegaBoom and new software tricks, but things haven’t really fundamentally changed since the original UE Boom came out. That changes now.
Today, Ultimate Ears announced the UE Boom 3 and MegaBoom 3. (UE is seemingly skipping the MegaBoom 2 to keep the branding consistent.) They mark the biggest update yet to UE’s speakers. The UE Boom 3 will cost $149 when it hits stores in early to mid-September, while the...

Asus killed the bezels on its new ZenBooks
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve attended a major tech exhibition like IFA and found myself having to ask if the product I’m looking at is the new or the previous model. Tech companies release way too many products way too quickly. But that’s not an issue with Asus’ new ZenBooks, which are dramatically, hilariously, delightfully smaller than their predecessors. The key to it all? Drastically reduced bezels that turn the previously sizable 13-inch ZenBook into a tiny bijou of a laptop, while the new 14-inch ZenBook has a footprint smaller than the previous 13-inch model. It’s a runaway triumph of an intergenerational upgrade.
The ZenBooks (minus any additional qualifiers like Pro or Flip) are basically Asus’ midrange laptops....

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Running Android Pie Shows Up On GFXBench
It’s barely been a month (or two?) since Android Pie started rolling out to Pixel phones and we are already seeing evidence of Samsung testing it on its current flagship, the Galaxy S9+. The leading Android OEM has traditionally been slow with updates, but it looks like all the hard work Google has been putting […]

Moto Phone With Waterdrop Notch Surfaces Online
In a recent leak, the otherwise notch-less Moto G6 Plus has surfaced bearing a cut-out at the top. Apart from that an, an alleged press render features a Motorola One-like-phone with a wide notch. A 5,000mAh battery is also expected on both of these phones and should be a major factor differentiating the upcoming phones. The new leak […]

Reasons Why Mobiistar X1 Dual Is A Selfie Star
Do you know why before the start of a cricket match captains of both teams do a pitch inspection? They do so to analyze the wicket before finalizing their playing XI. Similarly, most successful smartphone brands conduct market studies to understand their audience before coming up with a smartphone. This is exactly the practice International […]

DC Universe Streaming Service Launch Date Announced
Last month, DC put on quite a show at San Diego Comic-Con, which effectively allowed the comic book juggernaut to soak up the spotlight for a change.
What with the unveiling of the first Shazam! teaser, some unpolished Wonder Woman 1984 footage and the first Aquaman trailer, Worlds of DC took a giant step in the right direction. Although, not everything shown within Hall H went over as well as the rebranding.
Undeniably teasing a much more brooding and brutal take on the Bob Haney and Bruno Premiami-created IP, DC debuted the first trailer for Titans at SDCC, but the promo – which even featured Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) dropping an F-bomb – found the fandom wanting.
The series, which is expected to launch WB’s video-on-demand service, DC Universe, into the stratosphere, is presumedly gearing up for a premiere alongside the platform and, as luck would have it, we just got a much better idea of when that might be.
Earlier this evening, over on YouTube, the DC Universe Live Stream went, well, live, and the Kevin Smith-hosted event caught almost everyone off guard, as it was announced that the video on demand service, operated by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Networks, will officially launch on September 15th.
That’s right; DC Universe will go live in roughly half a month, which is a far cry from when we initially thought the streaming service would launch – not that we’re complaining, mind you. At the moment, it’s unclear what, exactly, will be available on the day of release, but assumedly, a noticeable portion of the content will be held back.
All in all, if you’re a DC fanboy, something is better than nothing, and if September 15th does indeed sound familiar, that’s because it’s Batman Day. I mean, what better way to celebrate the Caped Crusader then by taking a journey through his canon, right?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Scribe Opens Up On The Film’s Messy Origins
There were a lot of famous names in the mouth of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story co-writer Chris Weitz when the subject of the 2016 film’s production problems came up in a recent interview.
Though we already knew that the Gareth Edwards-helmed blockbuster underwent extensive reshoots under the direction of Tony Gilroy, what we’re only just beginning to grasp is the scale and extent of the script-tinkering that went into the Star Wars spinoff movie. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Weitz listed off several Hollywood screenwriters who were involved in the process, including Mission: Impossible – Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie.
“Gary Whitta did the first draft and then I came in and did a couple of drafts and then after me came Tony Gilroy, Christopher McQuarrie, Scott Burns, I believe David Arndt had some notes on it, and then Tony Gilroy came back on again. And it’s astonishing to me that, for me, from my point of view, how well it turned out, given how many writers were working on it any one time.”
By ‘David Arndt,’ it’s likely that Weitz is referring to The Force Awakens writer Michael Arndt, adding another noteworthy name to this set of scribes. But despite such a range of people leaving their mark on the project, Weitz can take credit for at least one major outcome in the final cut of the film.
“I thought they should all die,” Weitz said. “I think it occurred to Gary and Gareth at one point, but they thought, ‘Oh, Disney will never let us do it.'”
The writer then went on to recall his excitement upon realizing that his bosses at Disney were on board with their idea of killing off all the main characters.
“I was in a meeting with Alan Horn, Gareth, Kathleen Kennedy and Kiri Hart from the [Star Wars] story department and Alan kinda said, ‘Well… I can see how they probably all ought to die because we don’t see them in Star Wars’ and inside I was just jumping for joy,” Weitz said. “Which is a bit gruesome, I suppose, but I thought, this was amazing, we get to do this thing. I think it was important to convey the true seriousness of the galactic civil war.”
Sure enough, even after the fatality-heavy third act of The Last Jedi, the climax of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might still be the most brutal finale of any film in the franchise to date. And while you might still wonder how the movie would’ve turned out if Gareth Edwards had kept creative control, most viewers would likely agree that the final product holds up a lot better than its messy origins would suggest.
