Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Theory Explains A Big Darth Vader Mystery

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may hold an answer to one of the franchise’s biggest mysteries involving Darth Vader and the abduction of Force-sensitive children.

Say what you will about Episode IX, a movie that had to wrap more than 40-years of storytelling while paying tribute to every major aspect of what made the galaxy far, far away successful in the first place, but we can’t deny the Mouse House’s commitment in addressing every unanswered question in Star Wars through Abrams’ last entry. From reinterpreting established lore – like the Sith rule of two – to explaining what really went down with the resurrection of Palpatine, we’ve learned a lot more than the theatrical version of the film would possibly allow.

Now, a new theory tries to explain where the Sith cultists from Exegol came from. You know, the ones who nursed Palpatine back to life and somehow managed to build him the biggest fleet of Star Destroyers the galaxy has ever seen? In George Mann’s canonical Star Wars: Myths & Fables, a story revolving around Darth Vader explains how the Sith Lord went to different worlds and abducted Force-sensitive children.

As you know, the Emperor ordered Vader to kill all the Jedi and other Force-sensitive individuals, so where did these children go? In The Rise of Skywalker, we learned that both Vader and Palpatine possessed Sith Wayfinders that’d lead them to the Sith stronghold on Exegol. So, what if the Chosen One took those children to Exegol to be brainwashed into the ranks of Sith Eternal?

The theory could explain the sheer number of cultists on the Sith redoubt and all the details check out, too. It would even sit well with the philosophy behind the First Order and their stormtrooper recruits. The junior novelization for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has hinted that the Dark Side of the Force may have been involved in the process of brainwashing these individuals. It wasn’t foolproof, though, as Finn and many of his comrades found a way to escape its influence.

Tell us, though, what’s your opinion on this particular Darth Vader mystery? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Gargoyles Creator Wants To Team Up With Get Out Director For Live-Action Movie

Despite boasting the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, The Simpsons, Pixar and the majority of the studio’s extensive back catalogue of live-action and animated favorites, Gargoyles somewhat surprisingly turned out to be one of Disney Plus’ most popular titles when the Mouse House first launched their streaming service.

The show has remained a cult favorite with a loyal following ever since it was initially canceled after 78 episodes back in 1997, but the recent resurgence in popularity has fueled speculation about a possible revival, either with new episodes to continue the story of the original animation or a live-action version that would either be released theatrically or become a Disney Plus exclusive.

There’ve been several attempts to resurrect Gargoyles over the years, with Get Out and Us writer/director Jordan Peele pitching Disney an idea for a movie back in 2018. While that ultimately came to nothing, in a recent interview, creator Greg Weisman admitted that he’d love to team up with the Academy Award-winning filmmaker to bring the fan favorite characters back to our screens.

“I think it’s accurate that he was interested, but I can’t speak to how far those conversations went. My understanding is that he expressed an interest in the property. And Disney didn’t say no. But by not saying yes, that answers the question. You know, they didn’t want to say no to Jordan Peele, but they also didn’t want to say yes to Gargoyles. So it just didn’t go anywhere. I’d like to think that he’d still be interested in doing something with it if a new opportunity arose. I can’t say for sure if that’s true, I have no idea. But I would hope so. I’m a huge fan of us. Should he read this, I would love to work with him. But I don’t know how realistic that is.”

One major roadblock could turn out to be Peele’s availability. He may not have announced his next directorial outing yet, but he’s got his hands very full producing the Candyman remake, Netflix’s stop-motion Wendell and Wild, comedy series The Last O.G., Amazon’s Hunters and HBO’s upcoming Lovecraft Country, not to mention his role as host and writer of The Twilight Zone revival.

That being said, the idea of Jordan Peele teaming up with the show’s creator for a live-action movie sounds like an incredible idea, and Disney could do a lot worse than looking into it. Disney Plus is crying out for fresh content, after all, and the Mouse House can’t rely on Marvel and Star Wars forever to keep them afloat. Not to mention that the concept of Gargoyles also lends itself perfectly to an action blockbuster with both horror and fantasy elements.

Disney’s Reportedly Seriously Considering An Alita: Battle Angel Sequel

For a long time, it seemed as though manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel was set to remain firmly stuck in development hell. James Cameron had been attached to the project in some capacity since as far back as 1997, but the filmmaker isn’t exactly known for the speed at which he gets his movies together, and with his attention firmly on the Avatar franchise, he already seemed to have his hands full with big budget sci-fi for the foreseeable future.

However, after admitting that his continued adventures in Pandora wouldn’t afford him the time to make it himself, Cameron eventually handed the reins over to Robert Rodriguez while still acting as producer and co-writer. Alita: Battle Angel would finally make it into theaters last year, where it turned out to be a solid-if-unspectacular hit with both fans and critics.

It appeared as though a box office total of $405 million against a $170 million budget had nixed any hopes of a follow-up, especially with Disney now in control of the rights following their takeover of Fox, but Alita quickly went on to find a second life as a cult favorite. The movie became the subject of a huge online campaign to raise interest in a sequel, and we’ve now heard that the Mouse House might actually be listening.

Alita Battle Angel

According to our sources – the same ones who told us a Percy Jackson TV show is in the works and that live-action remakes of Robin Hood and Bambi are in development, all of which were correct – the studio are now reportedly considering green-lighting an Alita sequel. The higher-ups have noticed both the strong home video sales and a passionate fanbase that’s only getting bigger, which has led to discussions behind the scenes on returning to the 26th Century for another outing.

It isn’t clear yet if it would be a full-blown big screen sequel or a Disney Plus exclusive with a lower budget, but the news that they’re even considering diving back into the world of Alita: Battle Angel should be enough to generate excitement among the fans and mobilize the online troops, who’ve vocally supported the movie over the last eighteen months.

The Justice League Snyder Cut Has Reportedly Screened For DC Execs

Another day, another chapter in the long-running saga of the Justice League Snyder Cut. The ongoing story between the filmmaker’s mythical unfinished version of the movie and the studio’s apparent reluctance to cave in to pressure and fan demands to finally get it completed has dragged on for two and a half years now, but recent speculation points towards the upcoming debut of HBO Max being a pivotal moment for one of the most famous unfinished projects in recent memory.

As the latest entrant into an already crowded market, WarnerMedia’s streaming platform is under huge pressure to succeed from day one given the big investment and vast library of content that’s been assembled to try and convince potential subscribers to shell out for yet another over-the-top service. Should initial projections fail to meet intended targets, then the Snyder Cut could be unleashed as their secret weapon to generate massive buzz for the newest soldier in the streaming wars.

The noise surrounding the Snyder Cut only seems to be getting louder, which could indicate that something is definitely in the works this time. Crew members and friends of Kevin Smith that worked on the movie have both admitted that they’ve seen it, with recent reports indicating that the alternate version of Justice League is very much back in play.

We brought you the news yesterday that a teaser trailer was rumored to be used as a tactic to drum up some high-profile publicity when HBO Max finally goes live, and it’s now seemingly been revealed that the Snyder Cut was screened for DC executives back in February.

“It seems like a recent screening of the film could lead to a wider release. Heroic Hollywood has exclusively learned and confirmed that Zack Snyder held a private screening of his cut of Justice League in the first quarter of 2020, with executives from DC in attendance. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, something is happening with Snyder’s cut of the film, and discussions are currently underway.”

All signs seem to point towards the Snyder Cut being closer to becoming a reality than ever before, and all it took was for the studio to launch their own streaming service that faces a tough battle for subscriber numbers against the likes of Disney Plus, Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. Maybe this has been the plan for the original version of Justice League all along, but until it gets officially confirmed, fans will just have to keep their fingers crossed for a little while longer.
