Karen Gillan’s scientist Dr. Stevensen and her Life Beyond company have uncovered proof that the afterlife exists, and now willing participants are signing up to be euthanized in order to contribute to the ongoing research. The supernaturally-tinged blend of existential sci-fi, road trip movie, character-driven drama, and odd couple caper finds Katie Parker’s Rose and Rahul Kohli’s Teddy paired up to head across the country to meet their demise, before they forge an unexpected connection along the way.

‘Star Wars’ stans rally around one of the many sequel trilogy characters that wound up a wasted opportunity

Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy has become a byword for cinematic missed opportunities. They had the creative talent, a stacked cast of new faces and franchise icons, and a budget that could have realized any story they liked. But it all fell apart and sputtered to an end with The Rise of Skywalker, with the whole project undermined by a failure to decide the trilogy’s story in advance.

This led to a bunch of promising characters never getting their moment in the sun, with perhaps the most egregious the complete waste of Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma. The character’s eye-catching chrome armor stood out in merchandising, with fans anticipating a long-awaited competent and dangerous Stormtrooper villain.

The disturbingly gory remake of a horror classic dumps buckets of blood on the streaming charts

Once it had been decided that every single notable horror movie to have ever existed was going to be remade at one stage or another in the early 2000s, it was inevitable that the Wes Craven back catalogue would be near the top of the list. Sure enough, 2006 brought a brand new spin on The Hills Have Eyes, but the eye-watering levels of gore didn’t compensate for an otherwise inferior retread.

The story is much the same second time around, with a family running into trouble when their cross-country journey in an RV winds up with them being hunted down and picked off by a hardy band of cannibal mutants. Co-writer and director Alexandre Aja was European horror’s hot new thing after breaking out with the squeamish High Tension, and the filmmaker luxuriated in having a Hollywood budget at his disposal to up the bloodshed by an almost-worrying volume.

‘Harry Potter’ fans bracing for their worst nightmares as the inevitable reboot moves one step closer

Given the continued popularity of the franchise, even in the wake of creator J.K. Rowling’s continued controversies, almost every single fan has resigned themselves to the fact Warner Bros. are inevitably going to reboot Harry Potter one day.

However, nobody really expected it to happen for a while, given that the Fantastic Beasts sequels were there to theoretically pick up the slack, tide audiences over, and give them their fix of the Wizarding World. Based on comments made by CEO David Zaslav yesterday, though, the worst nightmare for many Potterheads could be happening a lot sooner than expected.
