Spotify’s desktop apps now work better with Chromecast devices

Spotify’s Mac and Windows apps can now start streaming to Chromecast devices, 9to5Google reports. Previously these apps have been able to control pre-existing Chromecast streams, but they couldn’t start them directly. Instead, you had to start a Chromecast stream on iOS or Android, before it could be controlled through the desktop app using Spotify Connect.
You can start a Chromecast stream on the desktop apps the same way as a Spotify Connect stream — by clicking the “Devices Available” button on the bottom right of the interface. From there you can select between your streaming devices, which now include Google Cast as well as Spotify Connect-enabled speakers.

Constantine Director Explains Why Keanu Didn’t Have A British Accent Or Blonde Hair
It’s hard to imagine a world where the casting of Keanu Reeves would be met with criticism. But back in 2005 when Constantine came out, fans of the DC/Vertigo comic were less than pleased with two aspects of Reeves’ performance. The first was that he wasn’t going to be British and the second was that he would not be wearing the signature brown coat from the comics.
Folks seemed to get over it quickly, however. Despite a mixed critical reception, Constantine went on to make more than $230 million off of a $100 million budget. Not spectacular, but respectable considering the pic was rated R, the landscape of comic book movies at the time and a February release. The film obviously became a cult classic in the years since as well and Reeves, director Francis Lawrence and producer Akiva Goldsman came together for a reunion panel at Comic-Con@Home last weekend to reflect on it.
When talking about the look of the character, Lawrence remembers not even discussing whether they should stick to the comics, saying:
“We never talked about it,” he said. “I remember in costumes too the one other sort of big change for the Constantine characters was the coat. And we did try the Constantine coat and ended up with the black one…We wanted to do what was right for what we were doing.”
News flash: what works in a comic doesn’t necessarily work in a movie. They’re two different mediums. That’s always my answer whenever someone complains about adaptations from comics or books.
Besides, how distracting would it have been to see Reeves with blonde hair and an accent? He may be a pro at doing his own stunts, but accents are not his thing (see: Dracula). The choices the filmmakers ended up making were the right ones, too, as Constantine is a very stylish movie, with Reeves’ look resembling a mix between Mad Men and film noir.

Natalie Portman is planning on getting jacked for Thor: Love and Thunder. The actress elaborated on her fitness plans for the upcoming movie in a recent Instagram chat with Serena Williams, saying that filming hasn’t started yet, giving her more time to make the gains she wants to make.
“She’s actually The Mighty Thor. The comics had the female Thor when Jane becomes Thor, and she’s The Mighty Thor. We haven’t started. More time to get jacked. Which I have not. I’ve got the carbo-loading down, but not the exercise part. Obviously everything is weird because of pandemic time, who knows what’s happening. It will be exciting and I’m interested to see if I can gain muscle.”

Love and Thunder isn’t due to release until 2022 at the earliest, so that ought to give her the necessary regime run-up. It’s become a staple of the superhero genre, after all. If you’re going to be a superhero, you better look the part. Going down the list of actors who’ve been pulling their weight, we’ve got Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt (was there also a requirement they had to be called Chris?), Henry Cavill (thank god), Zachary Levi, Chris-tian Bale (stop it). Even Paul Rudd got in shape. Sorry, Paul.
The point is, buffing up has almost become a constitutional requirement for would-be supes. It sounds like Portman wants to give as good as she’s got, which given she’ll be starring alongside Chris Hemsworth, it’ll have to be pretty good. May the best hero win.
This is not a conversation I expected to be reading about a few years ago given Portman’s relationship with the franchise prior to the release of Thor: Ragnarok – a film she decided to sit out. In the end, though, it worked out well, with the threequel emphasizing a clean break from the awkwardly restrained mood of its predecessors.
Evidently, Portman has been impressed with Taika Waititi’s direction. We all were, frankly. Thor has been reinvigorated, though how exactly they reintegrate Jane Foster – so confidently swept aside in Ragnorak – remains to be seen. She has to go from binned supporting character to fully-fledged Marvel superhero in one movie. Thor: Love and Thunder’s going to be spinning some interesting plates, that’s for sure.

Elon Musk Challenges Johnny Depp To A Cage Fight Amid Rumors Of Amber Heard Affair
From feces in the bed to severed fingers, the legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has spawned enough stories to fill gossip magazines for years to come. Now, Elon Musk has fanned the flames as he has challenged the actor to a cage fight amid allegations of having carried out an extended affair with Depp’s ex-wife while the two were still married.
Before getting into that, though, a bit of context might be in order. Depp is currently involved in a trial against The Sun, a commercial outlet which he sued for referring to him as a “wife-beater.” The trial, set in London, has involved testimonies from numerous high profile people, including the couple in question, as well as Depp’s former partners.
Only last month, rumors began floating around that Musk was having an affair with Heard while she was still married to Depp. On top of that, the SpaceX and Tesla founder was also alleged to have engaged in a threesome with both Heard and Suicide Squad actress Cara Delevingne while staying in Depp’s LA penthouse.
In an interview with The New York Times, Musk was quick to dismiss rumors of both the affair and the threesome, saying:
“I definitely was not having an affair with Amber while she was married to Johnny, this is totally false. We did not have the threesome, you know. So I think people think these things are generally more salacious than they are.”
Elon Musk then went on to suggest that Johnny Depp and Heard “bury the hatchet and move on.” The entrepreneur even said he hopes that Depp, who has picked on him in the past, “recovers from this situation.”
Nice words aside, he did finish off by saying that “if Johnny wants a cage fight, just let me know.” As of yet, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has yet to respond. But should that change, we’ll certainly let you know.

Captain Marvel 2 Reportedly Features Spider-Man And The Super-Skrull
Carol Danvers and Peter Parker had a memorable first meeting in Avengers: Endgame. In the midst of battle, the heroine appeared to take the Infinity Gauntlet from Spidey, and he was clearly in awe of her. A further team-up would be a lot of fun to see, then, and it seems there’s a good chance of a Cap’n Marvel/Spider-Man partnership happening in Captain Marvel 2 in a couple of summers’ time.
Scooper Mikey Sutton has shared his latest bit of intel on his Geekosity Facebook page, something which has also been corroborated by The Cosmic Wonder YouTube channel. Sutton claims that Marvel is planning for Tom Holland to play a key role as the wall-crawler in the upcoming sequel. As he’s previously told us, CM2 will tackle the Secret Invasion comics storyline. It’s been said elsewhere that this event is being adapted for a TV series but according to Sutton, the show will act as a direct lead-in into the movie, which will properly handle the nuts and bolts of the arc.

As part of this, Sutton says the Super-Skrull will appear. In contrast to the comics, where the villain has the powers of the Fantastic Four, this time he’ll have the web-head’s abilities. The scooper points out that the inspiration here is Marvel Team-Up #62, which saw Carol and Peter fight the Super-Skrull together. He also says that the studio set up this connection by deliberately dropping the Skrulls in Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s post-credits scene.
In addition to all this, it’s also been reported that CM2 could end up being a mini-Avengers movie with various heroes dropping by, in a similar vein to Captain America: Civil War. Ms. Marvel is believed to have a significant part in the film, too, following her debut in her own Disney Plus show.
It’s all pretty exciting to hear about, and hopefully we’ll find out more about which direction Marvel goes in with the sequel as we get closer to Captain Marvel 2 hitting theaters on July 8th, 2022.

TikTok can access users’ clipboard content on iOS — potentially a problem for anyone using a password manager to log into secure accounts. Some politicians are particularly wary of TikTok because the video-sharing app is owned by Chinese internet company Bytedance.
