Logitech’s new colorful G733 wireless gaming headset can make your desk less drab

Logitech G733 Lightspeed The new G733 wireless headset costs $129 and will ship in September. | Logitech

In September, Logitech will ship a colorful collection of gaming accessories, consisting of a few preexisting products with some fresh tints, and one brand-new product: the $129 G733 Lightspeed gaming headset. With the exception of the $229 G915 TKL wireless mechanical keyboard, which is now offered in white instead of only black, other accessories — the $39 G203 Lightsync wired mouse, the $59 G305 Lightspeed wireless mouse, and the G733 headset — will come in four colors: blue, lilac purple, white, and black.

Since most of these products have already been available for a while, I’m going to focus on the G733 headset. It’s a lightweight, wireless gaming headset that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Impressively, it has most of the...

Corsair Gaming is a billion-dollar company, and everything else we spotted in the IPO filing

When Razer went on a building and buying spree that saw it morph from a PC peripherals company to a publicly traded do-it-all gaming hardware manufacturer, Corsair was clearly paying attention — on Monday, it took the penultimate step in a similar journey by filing its own IPO paperwork.

And within the S-1 filing, we can finally see just how big a company Corsair has actually become. The company says it pulled in a billion dollars in revenue last year, and now commands over 18 percent of the US market share in gaming peripherals and nearly 42 percent of gaming PC components. (The company doesn’t say how big it is worldwide.)

Corsair claims it’s now the number one seller of...

Nintendo reportedly releasing upgraded Switch next year

Photo by James Bareham / The Verge

Nintendo is planning to release an upgraded version of its popular Switch game console next year, according to reports in Taiwan’s Economic Daily News and Bloomberg. The new model will come out in early 2021, according to the Economic Daily News, which cited supply chain sources.

This could be the first serious performance upgrade to the Switch since its release in March 2017. Bloomberg says Nintendo “has looked into including more computing power and 4K high-definition graphics,” while the Economic Daily News mentions improved visuals. Nintendo did release two new Switch models last year, but they used a more power-efficient version of the original hardware to enable a smaller form factor and better battery life without notable...

Epic judge will protect Unreal Engine — but not Fortnite

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

Epic Games just won a temporary restraining order against Apple — at least in part. Effective immediately, Apple can’t retaliate against Epic Games by terminating the company’s Apple developer accounts or restricting use of Epic’s Unreal Engine by developers on Apple platforms.

But in the same ruling, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers decided that Apple will not be required to bring Fortnite — which it had banned after Epic added an in-app payment system in violation of Apple’s rules — back to the App Store.

“The Court finds that with respect to Epic Games’ motion as to its games, including Fortnite, Epic Games has not yet demonstrated irreparable harm. The...

iRobot is giving its vacuum cleaners a new AI-powered brain

New features include precision cleaning zones. | Image: iRobot

iRobot is announcing what it’s calling the biggest software upgrade to its robot vacuum cleaners since the company’s inception 30 years ago: a new AI-powered platform known as iRobot Genius Home Intelligence. Or, as iRobot CEO Colin Angle describes it: “It’s a lobotomy and replacement of the intelligence systems in all of our robots.”

The new system is part a big shift in how iRobot develops its wares, Angle tells The Verge. As robovacs become commodity goods, available for less than $200 from many vendors, iRobot wants to move up the value chain, differentiating itself from lower-tier rivals with sophisticated software. What that means, says Angle, is a robot you can really control.

“Imagine you had a cleaning person come to your home...

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 doesn’t have a release date, but you can already watch this review

Image: YouTube

Samsung finally announced the follow-up to the beleaguered first generation Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, earlier this month, but the phone still isn’t out yet — Samsung promised to reveal more on September 1st. Ahead of then, though, it seems at least one Z Fold 2 has made it into the wild, as a Chinese YouTube channel has already posted a review of the upcoming foldable (via SamMobile).

I don’t speak Chinese, so I can’t tell you what the reviewer is saying. But if you want to see what an actual powered-on Z Fold 2 looks like doing a bunch of different things, I recommend watching the whole video. And there’s a few interesting tidbits worth calling out.

Perhaps most noticeably, the outer screen seems like a major improvement, as it...

A Very Overlooked Horror Movie Is Finding Lots Of Love On Netflix Today

When it comes to horror films, Netflix usually has something for everyone. Be it stone cold classics, undiscovered gems, hot new titles or movies that are worth a second look, there’s a lot to dig into from the beloved genre. But what’s particularly great about the streaming site it its ability to shine a light on those horror efforts that may’ve passed you by due to a limited theatrical release or even no theatrical release at all.

Such is the case with 1BR. Arriving on the platform last week without much buzz, this excellent horror movie premiered back in April – digitally, of course, given the current pandemic – and didn’t find too big of an audience. And that’s despite some excellent reviews, with its Rotten Tomatoes score currently sitting at 88%. However, now that it’s on Netflix, it seems to be attracting a much larger crowd and as of today, it’s the fifth most-watched film on the site.

Plot-wise, 1BR follows a woman named Sarah, who tries to start over in Los Angeles but finds that something isn’t right. As the summary explains:

Unable to sleep, tormented by strange noises and threatening notes, her new life quickly starts to unravel. By the time she learns the horrifying truth, it’s too late. Caught in a waking nightmare, Sarah must find the strength to hold onto her crumbling sanity… or be trapped forever in an existential hell.

1BR

Praised for its “tight direction, interesting ideas, and an effective blend of horror and thoughtful drama,” it seems to be capturing the attention of a lot of Netflix viewers. And one look at social media will show you that most people appear to be enjoying it quite a bit.

While it’s unlikely to go down as one of 2020’s best or most memorable films, it seems 1BR is still proving to be a treat for horror lovers, one that’s now finding a much bigger audience than it otherwise would have thanks to the incredible platform that is Netflix.

Tell us, though, have you had a chance to check this one out yet? If so, what did you make of it? As always, leave us your thoughts down below.

iFixit’s teardown for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could explain why your phone is running hot

Image: iFixit

Tech teardown specialist iFixit has published a new article taking apart the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, providing us a better look at what’s underneath the giant camera bump of Samsung’s $1,300 stylus-equipped smartphone and its cheaper sibling. Surprisingly, iFixit found that both phones are missing the vapor chamber and copper heat pipes Samsung had been using on previous phones to cool their processor during extended gaming sessions.

Instead of copper, iFixit found a multi-layered graphite thermal pad inside each device during its teardowns and says that JerryRigEverything reportedly found one as well. But weirdly, at least one other Galaxy Note 20 Ultra does have the copper heatpipe and vapor chamber cooling, as you...
