WB Reportedly Wants Robert Pattinson’s Batman To Marry [SPOILERS]

Batman may be about to tie the knot on the big screen. The Dark Knight has had various love interests across his many movie outings, but so far he’s only been married to his job as Gotham’s protector. This could change in one of the sequels to The Batman, however, as new intel is pointing to Warner Bros. apparently looking to have Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne get hitched. And the character who might end up as Batman’s bride will not be a surprise to fans.

We’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who previously told us about WB’s plans for a Black Superman before that was confirmed – that the studio wants Pattinson’s Caped Crusader to marry Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman in The Batman movies. We don’t know the reasoning behind this, but apparently it’s something they’re keen on. It’s also unclear if director Matt Reeves is interested in this concept as well, although we have been informed that Pattinson wants multiple love interests in the franchise. So it does appear that there may be some creative differences about Bruce settling down.

Presumably the studio is inspired by the major Batman/Catwoman engagement storyline in recent DC comics. Bruce and Selina Kyle getting engaged gained a lot of widespread interest, helping to increase sales, although it ultimately turned out to be a bit of a fakeout, as Selina elected not to go through with the wedding in the end. This decision caused a lot of controversy amongst fans so maybe WB wants to avoid that this time and actually have the Bat and the Cat say “I do.”

Again, this isn’t necessarily what Reeves and Pattinson want for the character, but it’s something we’re hearing the studio is pushing for, so who knows whether the filmmakers will choose to go down this route or not. In the shorter term, Pattinson’s Bruce and Kravitz’s Selina will meet for the first time in The Batman, which is due to hit theaters on November 4th, 2022.

Future Pirates Of The Caribbean Movies Will Introduce More Real-Life Pirates

Johnny Depp might not be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, but Disney isn’t about to throw out the super-lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean franchise along with him. The challenge the studio will face, though, is populating their reboot movies with characters that are as beloved as those from the earlier films, such as Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann, Geoffrey Rush’s Hector Barbossa and, of course, Sparrow himself.

Maybe the smart thing to do, then, would be to hit the history books and introduce more real-life pirates into the universe. Insider Daniel Richtman has shared a new rumor on his Patron page, claiming that this is exactly what Disney is going to do. He doesn’t specify any particular historic plunderers and privateers that might be brought into future films, but according to this intel, that is the plan.

This adds up with what we’ve heard before. We know a female-led reboot is on the way and some reports have said it’ll feature a red-headed heroine in the lead, with Marvel’s Karen Gillan having been linked to the part. Certain sources say this heroine could be Anne Bonny, a notorious female pirate who operated in the Caribbean in the early 1700s along with her lover Captain John Rackham AKA Calico Jack. The couple also had another female pirate, Mary Read, in their crew.

While this potential Gillan vehicle is still in flux, a spinoff starring and produced by Margot Robbie is enjoying much plainer sailing. Robbie’s character – who could end up being queer – is unknown at this stage, but if we’re to believe this rumor, maybe she’s based on an IRL pirate, too. If Anne Bonny is the star of the reboot, it’s possible she’s playing Mary Read.

Neither of these Pirates of the Caribbean projects are far enough along yet to be given release dates,  but we will return to the seven seas at some point in the next few years. And we might get a history lesson when we do.

The Batman Universe Will Reportedly Introduce A New Cyborg

Any filmmaker attached to a DC Films project that wants to use Cyborg will find themselves in a tricky position, and that’s putting it lightly. Ray Fisher has gathered widespread support from both his peers and the online community after refusing to back down when it comes to calling out Joss Whedon and the Warner Bros. top brass for their behavior and subsequent lack of accountability dating back to the Justice League reshoots.

The actor already lost out on a solo film when the DCEU was reshuffled several years back, and he was also set to return and play a significant supporting role in The Flash, with producer Barbara Muschietti confirming Fisher was involved, before he eventually exiled himself from the shared universe entirely by stating he wouldn’t play Victor Stone again until Walter Hamada was out of the picture.

There’s been talk on more than one occasion that the studio would simply recast the role and move on, but you can guarantee there’d be massive backlash from all sides if WB were to hire somebody else as Cyborg when Fisher shows no signs of giving up his crusade anytime soon. However, a new leak – which admittedly hails from Reddit but does come from a source with a decent track record for inside scoops – offers that Matt Reeves wants a new version of the character in The Batman universe.

It’s not a guarantee by any stretch of the imagination, but how to handle Cyborg presents a unique and tricky scenario for any creative mind, as well as their paymasters. Ignore Fisher and there’s going to be uproar, but he’s not planning on coming back until drastic changes have been made either, so something’s going to have to give eventually.

Nightwing Movie Reportedly Part Of The SnyderVerse

The constant creative upheavals and personnel reshuffles that have plagued the DCEU since its very inception has seen a huge number of movies announced, sometimes even with writers and directors attached, only for them to fall into the abyss of development hell.

That list includes, but is not limited to, cancelled Aquaman spinoff The Trench and Ava DuVernay’s New Gods, Booster Gold, Will Smith’s Deadshot spinoff, David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens, the Joker and Harley Quinn outing from Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, Ray Fisher’s solo Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps and Nightwing.

The latter came attached with some exciting talent, setting The LEGO Batman Movie‘s Chris McKay to make his live-action directorial debut from a script by Ozark creator Bill Dubuque. However, it didn’t gain much momentum, and McKay eventually helmed Amazon’s upcoming sci-fi blockbuster The Tomorrow War instead, where he offered the first real Nightwing update we’ve heard in close to three years while on the promotional trail.

The filmmaker revealed his hopes that he’ll get around to making it, but admitted the constant indecision on Warner Bros.’ part was a holdup. We’ve now heard from our sources – the same ones who told us Zack Snyder’s Justice League was heading exclusively to HBO Max long before it was confirmed – that Nightwing could be positioned as part of the SnyderVerse.

Of course, that may sound like wishful thinking given that the studio are determined to slam that particular door shut, but McKay also admitted he’s open to Nightwing taking place in any pocket of the DCEU’s multiverse as long as it results in the comic book blockbuster finally getting off the ground, and theoretically it wouldn’t have to directly connect to Snyder’s output in order to occupy the same narrative space.
