Google bans another Chinese app developer for bad ad practices

Google is banning a Chinese developer from the Play store for violating its advertising policies. CooTek, which is listed on the NYSE and is probably best known in the West for its TouchPal keyboard replacement, no longer has access to Google’s ad platforms and has had dozens of apps removed altogether.
The news was reported by BuzzFeed following an investigation from Lookout that showed hundreds of CooTek apps using an invasive adware plugin called BeiTaAd. This plugin reportedly sent aggressive ads to users even when the phone or the app wasn’t in use, which Lookout researcher Kristina Balaam said could “render the phones nearly unusable.”
CooTek said it would remove BeiTaAd, but BuzzFeed and Lookout subsequently discovered that many...

The flamethrower drone will soon be a thing you can buy

In 2015, a Connecticut teenager raised the question of whether our robots have the right to bear arms when he jury-rigged a working flamethrower — and separately, a semiautomatic pistol — to his drone.
But this Thursday, you’ll be able to easily build a flying flamethrower yourself. You’re looking at a the Throwflame TF-19 Wasp, a functional flamethrower attachment for commercial-grade heavy lift drones that can hit targets up to 25 feet away, with a one-gallon fuel tank that can produce a stream of fire for 100 seconds, according to the company.
Mind you, the $1,499 price for the flamethrower won’t get it up in the sky, as you’ll need to provide the drone, too — which you may need to piece together since commercial drones are often...

Rob Zombie Reveals Gorgeous Exclusive Poster For 3 From Hell
It’s been a pretty exciting couple of weeks for Rob Zombie fans who’ve been patiently awaiting the upcoming release of 3 From Hell. First, we were told about its autumnal release date; then, we got a brand new, horrifying poster and now, we have yet another one-sheet to feast our eyes on and this one’s pretty special.
But let’s take a step back. As you surely heard, The Devil’s Rejects sequel will make its way into 900 theaters via Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network on September 16th. It’ll enjoy a limited, 3-day run but if you choose to attend, you’ll be treated to some exclusive goodies.
On September 16th, for instance, 3 From Hell will be introduced via a special pre-taped segment from Zombie, and the first 50 people who show up to the theaters will get a special poster. Those who decide to catch the pic on September 17th, meanwhile, will be treated to a 30-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of the threequel. And finally, fans who head out to cinemas on Sunday, September 18th will get a gruesome double feature of both 3 From Hell and The Devil’s Rejects.
But circling back to that poster, and we now have our very first look at it, which you can see for yourself in the gallery down below.

Pretty awesome, eh? Again, given how limited these will be, you’ll definitely want to make sure you catch 3 From Hell on the 16th, and show up early, if you want to get your hands on one. Failing that, we guess there’s always eBay?
Cool poster aside though, there’s much to look forward to with Rob Zombie’s latest, as we’ve already been told that it’s an absolute masterpiece. And as 3 From Hell‘s release draws closer, we’ll be sure to let you know when the director decides to reveal more of it.

The Walking Dead Star Teases Her Return In Rick Grimes Movies
The Walking Dead has moved beyond Rick Grimes now, after Andrew Lincoln left the series back in the first half of season 9. However, we’ve haven’t seen the last of him in the franchise as the star’s set to lead his own trilogy of movies that’ll follow what happened to Rick after he was whisked away in that helicopter by Jadis/Anne.
But will the woman who kidnapped him/saved his life (depending on how you look at it) return in the films? Pollyanna McIntosh hasn’t been seen on the main show since leaving with Rick, so it would makes sense if she was to play an important role in the movies. In fact, the actress recently took part in a Reddit AMA where the topic came up, but McIntosh would not be drawn for answers.
When asked about what happened to Anne after we last saw her, she replied: “Right now she’s up up up with Rick. Whether they remain useful to each other or not remains to be seen.”

Fans continued to press her for details, with one directly asking whether she’s going to return. McIntosh answered, “I sure hope so!”
Last but not least, in response to another question on the topic, the actress wrote that she would “love to revisit TWD world — let’s see!”
McIntosh’s playing coy here, as all TWD actors have learned to do over the years when talking about this franchise, but she needn’t on this occasion. It’s actually already been confirmed that she’ll be back as Anne in the movies. Chief content officer Scott Gimple, who’s writing the script for the first film with creator Robert Kirkman, was asked by EW back in November and he gave a clear response, saying: “She is on that helicopter, so that would be a yes.”
Fingers crossed then we’ll get some more info on The Walking Dead movies out of this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Theory Teases An Obi-Wan Return
As we all know, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring to an end the legendary saga George Lucas set off in 1977. In the four decades since its creation, fans have reveled in technological innovation, gifted storytelling, and brilliantly memorable characters – many of whom we’ve had to learn to say goodbye to.
J.J. Abrams, the director behind the highly-anticipated finale, has seemed to make it his purpose to make the Star Wars community proud – especially when it comes to paying homage to the past films. So far, we already know that two icons from the Original Trilogy – Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian, and Ian McDiarmid’s eerie Emperor Palpatine – will be making their big screen returns, and Luke Skywalker, who’d died in 2017’s The Last Jedi, will also be coming back as a Force ghost.
But maybe there’ll be more?
A rumor from a couple of weeks ago suggested that the climax of the film may involve a battle of these Force ghosts. But having not shown up at all for the last two Star Wars movies, fans might find it a bit strange should the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and possibly even Anakin Skywalker appear out of nowhere.
A new theory (via Reddit) has been brought up, however, that makes a cameo with old masters more realistic – and potentially more touching. You can check it out for yourself below:
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we get to see Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi teaching Rey lightsaber techniques? I was thinking to an episode of Rebels where Ahsoka and Ezra are watching an Anakin technique tutorial with a Holocron, and I was thinking about in the Canon comics where it was mentioned that Kenobi had done something similar for Luke to learn and had left recordings in his cabin. So…a quick scene of Rey watching him do some cool combat stuff would be a fun easter egg. Thoughts?
Well, in a world where crystals can cast deadly weapons and you can control people with the wave of your hand, anything can happen, right? But this theory seems especially plausible. Plus it’d provide an avenue for some of our favorite heroes to possibly make one last appearance before this chapter of Star Wars is closed forever. Who knows? Maybe there’s an entire archive of training recordings available? Maybe Obi-Wan held onto ones from Qui-Gon?!
But we want to know what your thoughts are. Does this prediction hold any weight? Or is it just another worthless rambling? Shoot us a comment down below, though you won’t have any way of confirming your guesses until Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters this December.

Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Calls Out Vicious Social Media Fans
Ah, music to my ears.
In a moment of harmonious honesty, Daisy Ridley addressed the toxic nature of fandom criticism, specifically upon the Star Wars films.
It’d be crazy to assume that anyone who’s asked to take part in one of history’s longest and most treasured movie franchises would consider it a job – at least in the sense that you and I would define a job. But apparently that much is true in Ridley’s case, who appreciates her role and responsibility of Rey but will also not let it define her or her actions.
In a recent interview with Bustle, the 27-year-old icon addressed many of the not-so-pleasant parts of being at the forefront of a series, including facing criticism from fans. Though any film’s subject to condemning commentary from viewers and professionals alike (hell, I’m a critic), no one would debate the fact that the products of major franchises like Star Wars are viewed and judged in a stricter light.
“It’s great that people are expressive of their views. But this is people’s jobs. People worked really, really hard on that thing,” Ridley explained. “I think there’s a way of having a discussion that isn’t so vicious.”
The young star then went on to note how social media has given users a false sense of entitlement and importance, saying:
“Because if you’ve got however many followers, and you write something that you think is, like, so deep, and a hundred people like it, it’s constant reinforcement.”
While Ridley’s done her part in staying away from social media, having deactivated all her accounts, it seems she hasn’t escaped the storm entirely, detailing a recent interaction in which someone felt comfortable enough with her to voice their negativity right to her face.
“I was at my friend’s birthday,” she said. “And one of her friends, who I barely know, was like, ‘Hey, really liked the first Star Wars. Didn’t really like the second one,’ and I thought, ‘That’s rude, dude! That’s my job!'”
It’s endearing to see a star of Ridley’s caliber stand up for her projects, though she, as any professional actor and actress should be, is aware that criticism’s inevitable with any film. Not even Star Wars is perfect.
