Michael Bay’s unboxing video of a cake sent to his house by Tom Cruise generates entirely justifiable obsession

There are plenty of ways to make it to the top of the Hollywood tree, but you only really know you’ve made it when you gain entry to the exclusive and highly prestigious Tom Cruise cake list.
Each and every year without fail, the Top Gun and Mission: Impossible legend will spend a huge amount of money on bespoke confectionery made exclusively by Doan’s Bakery in California, which he then sends all across the planet to those he deems worthy of such a lofty accolade.

Simu Liu dares haters to come for the new generation of MCU icons

Among many things, the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Phase Four was about new beginnings, with the franchise introducing a huge wave of fresh heroes and villains into the mix to bolster the ranks between the aftermath of the Infinity Saga and the buildup towards the epic conclusion of its multiversal successor in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
Having added Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, the entire roster of Eternals, Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk and countless others into the mix, it would be fair to say the MCU is packing a very deep bench.

It’s that time of year where everyone suddenly becomes overcome by the urge to watch as many schmaltzy, sappy, sentimental, and formulaic festive films as possible, while also finding the time to argue over whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie. An opinion-splitting found footage sensation unleashes a new wave of enthusiastic satanic panic

As a general rule of thumb, found footage horror has tended to be a very hit-or-miss subgenre, with the margins between inventiveness and the desire to cash in on the latest craze often so thin they become virtually impenetrable. 2011’s Grave Encounters may have been a huge success relative to its budget, but the jury is out on whether it ranks as one of the finest shaky-cam spooktaculars.
Cobbled together on a shoestring budget of just $120,000, the story finds the crew of a ghost-hunting TV series taking up an overnight residency in an abandoned psychiatric hospital to investigate the long-held rumors of paranormal activity. While that sounds fairly straightforward in practice, the execution is off the charts insane.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ producer offers a cautiously optimistic update on Johnny Depp’s return

A year or so ago, it seemed Johnny Depp had hung up his pirate hat for good. The actor faced an onslaught of negative press surrounding his legal battle with Amber Heard that made him radioactive to major studios. Warner Bros. recast him in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, his indie movie Minamata was buried, and he was reduced to voicing a CG puffin in a Serbian cartoon.
But now, after his legal victory in Fairfax, Virginia, Depp may be mounting a comeback. A new Pirates of the Caribbean is in development, with Chernobyl and The Last of Us‘s Craig Mazin on script duties. Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been asked about Depp’s return in the new movie, and says “we’re still working on it.”
