After years of silence, Disney has confirmed that Lucasfilm’s Willow will receive a sequel, in the form of a TV series coming to its Disney Plus streaming subscription service. The pilot will be directed by Crazy Rich Asians’ John M. Chu.

Willow has largely remained untouched since its original release in 1988, but this long rumored sequel will join existing novels and a comic book that previously built out the world of the film. The original can already be streamed on Disney Plus, and this new series will join The Mandalorian as Lucasfilm’s second television spin-off on the platform.

The 1988 film, directed by Ron Howard, was a cult hit when it first premiered, a fantasy adventure about an aspiring sorcerer named Willow (Warwick Davis)...

Quibi apps arrive on Apple TV, Android TV, and Fire TV

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

Quibi, the troubled streaming service focused on “quick bites” of mobile-first content, has just launched apps for Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV. The company quietly announced the change in an updated support article.

These apps follow Quibi’s ongoing attempts to get more eyes on its content after launching as a mobile-only app. The company first made content more shareable in May, and followed that soon after with AirPlay and Chromecast support.

Unfortunately for Quibi, these changes to the initial mobile-first strategy may have come too late. A new report in The Information claims that co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg has attempted to sell Quibi’s programming to Facebook and NBCUniversal while telling...

AOC’s debut Twitch stream is one of the biggest ever

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reacts to being chosen to be an impostor during her first live-streamed round of Among Us, moments after saying she hoped not to be picked as an impostor.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made her Twitch debut tonight to play Among Us and encourage viewers to vote. She also, very quickly, became one of the platform’s biggest broadcasters: her stream peaked at 435,000 viewers around the time of her first match, according to Twitch. (The stream is still going as of this writing, but it had dipped to around 350,000 viewers after about two hours of playing.)

That peak viewership puts her broadcast among the 20 biggest streams ever, according to the third-party metrics site TwitchTracker, and much higher if you’re only looking at broadcasts from individual streamers. Ninja holds the record for an individual streamer, with more than 600,000 viewers during a Fortnite match with Drake in 2018....

IPL 2020: I Was This Fluent on my Test Debut, Says Dhawan After Consecutive Tons

Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday became the first player to score back to back centuries in the IPL. But his unbeaten 106 off 61 balls went in vain as Delhi Capitals lost to Kings XI Punjab by five wickets. While he hit 12 fours and three sixes, his teammates just scored a combined 54 off 59 balls and DC's score was 164/5 batting first.

Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Trying To Get Tom Cruise In Black Adam Franchise

Black Adam is still a long ways away from premiering, but it’s clear that everyone involved anticipates that the film will be the beginning of a blockbuster franchise. Warner Bros. is reportedly in the process of trying to sign Dwayne Johnson to as many as ten more movies under the DCEU banner, starting with the aforementioned pic, and the 48-year-old is also looking ahead to the future as he’s apparently begun to recruit folks to star in Black Adam 2, and one of the big names on his wish list is Tom Cruise.

According to our sources – the same ones who told us a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max and Ben Affleck is returning as Batman in The Flash – The Rock is very eager to work alongside the three-time Academy Award nominee and is actively trying to find a role for him in the sequel. It’s likely that the studio will do all they can to accommodate their beloved star, too, so if that’s what Johnson wants, Cruise is probably the only person who could stop it from happening.

He is, after all, an actor in very high demand. Marvel is reportedly eying him to play an alternate universe Iron Man, though that’s far from confirmed. And while he wouldn’t be the first performer to star in both the DCEU and MCU should all this pan out, he would definitely be the most high profile. As of yet, though, it’s unclear who he could portray in the Black Adam franchise. All we’ve been told is that The Rock wants him involved.

But tell us, would you like to have Tom Cruise star alongside Dwayne Johnson in an upcoming DC flick? And if so, who would you like to see the Top Gun actor play? As always, let us know down below.

Fast & Furious Franchise To End After Eleventh Movie, Justin Lin Will Direct

The Fast & Furious franchise obviously isn’t designed with awards in mind, and as far as sheer entertainment goes, there are few properties in Hollywood that are able to send audiences home as satisfied as this one does. Each new movie might be wilder and crazier than the last, but fans eat it up every single time.

All good things must come to an end, though, and indeed, it seems that Fast & Furious is no different. While Universal will no doubt continue to pump out spinoffs, the main series is now set to conclude after the eleventh film, which will be directed by franchise veteran Justin Lin, who’s also behind the camera for outing number ten.

Variety has the news, reporting that though the story of Dominic Toretto and his family is reaching its end, spinoffs for various characters are already in development as the studio looks to keep milking the brand for some time to come. We just won’t be getting any further mainline installments after Fast & Furious 11. And really, that’s ok.

After all, there’s only so much vehicular insanity and gravity-defying mayhem that folks can take and while a lot of that will no doubt continue in those aforementioned spinoffs, we imagine that the franchise will begin to head in some different directions as well once its free from the shackles of an 11-film continuity and a story that’s been carried on for close to two decades now.

In any case, it’s been a terrific run with not too many dips in quality along the way and though it’s sad to hear that an end is in sight, at least we have a few more Fast & Furious flicks to go before it’s all over.
