‘Quantumania’ deleted scene reveals Marvel cut a sword-slashing Kang action sequence, because of course it did

Perhaps the biggest tragedy concerning Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is that evidence suggests Marvel might have once had a much better movie on its hands than the one we ended up seeing. First, fan detectives realized that the film’s underwhelming happy ending was likely the result of some last-minute reshoots that took place just weeks before its release. Now, a fresh behind-the-scenes video appears to unveil a removed Kang action scene that looks like it would’ve been epic.

This eye-popping stunt video, as shared by @MCU_Covered in the tweet below, showcases Xavier Lake — Jonathan Majors’ double as Kang the Conqueror — wielding a sword and a mace while practising for what looks to be a brutal fight scene between the villain and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Evangeline Lilly’s stunt double Lauriane Rouault originally shared the clip on Instagram, before later removing it (probably at the studio’s request).

Brie Larson may have MODOK’s butt hole to blame if ‘The Marvels’ ends up tanking as bad as ‘Quantumania’

Unfortunately, Brie Larson has had to deal with a lot of a**holes over her time in the MCU so far, thanks to the endless yammerings of misogynistic morons online, but the most problematic to date may have just shimmied its way into view. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is proving to be far from the grand Phase Five opener we were all hoping for, turning out to be less of a dramatic debut for Jonathan Majors’ Kang and more of a showcase for Marvel’s worst impulses, like the need to show us M.O.D.O.K.’s bare backside.

Quantumania has so thoroughly dropped the ball, what with its franchise-low critical scores and box office descent so steep it’s reaching Morbius levels, that fans are wondering if it’ll end up taking the rest of Marvel’s 2023 slate with it. As begun by Redditor u/myusernamestaken on the r/MarvelStudios sub, it’s being discussed if The Marvels now has no hope of matching 2019’s Captain Marvel due to lingering feelings over the Paul Rudd threequel.

MCU fans growing cautiously optimistic after ‘Blade’ reportedly sets a shooting date

The MCU’s Blade reboot has a reputation for being cursed. Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to the Daywalker way back in 2011, and in 2019 announced that Mahershala Ali would be taking up the silver stakes and katana, but we’re now well over three years on with nothing to show for it.

Over the past year, the movie has lost its original director Bassam Tariq, had its production start date repeatedly pushed back, endured total script rewrites, and supporting characters being recast late in the day. Finally, there’s some light on the horizon. According to Production List, the shoot will begin in Atlanta on May 1, with the film closing out Phase Five in late 2024.
