This is Sony’s Spatial Reality Display, and you can buy one for $5,000 in November
Two days ago, I received a giant heavy metal wedge from Sony. The largest side contained a camera, and a 15.6-inch 4K screen.
I plugged it into a powerful gaming computer, and fired up the first demo. A tiny, intricately detailed Volkswagen Atlas materialized in front of my face — and when I pressed a button, it floated right up out of the screen. A couple minutes later, I was watching a 4-inch tall anime girl dance her heart out inside Sony’s contraption, tapping her feet atop a floor of hexagonal mirrors. It’s the magic of stereoscopic 3D.
The wedge is Sony’s new Spatial Reality Display, and it’s not remotely a new idea — it’s just the industry’s latest attempt to build a so-called “holographic display” for the content creators of the...

All 23 Zombie Movies And TV Shows Available On Netflix This Halloween
What would Halloween be without zombies? Nothing, that’s what, so thankfully Netflix has got you covered this October with a whole bunch of movies and TV shows that serve up a range of takes on the zombie genre. The streaming service has to offer some of the most iconic entries in the world of zombie fiction that are always good for a watch, but also some underrated gems that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already.
In total, there are 23 zombie titles currently available on Netflix – 12 movies and 11 TV shows. Check out the full list below:
Movies
- #Alive (2020)
- Cargo (2018)
- Day of the Dead: Bloodline (2018)
- Doom Annihilation (2019)
- KL Zombi (2013)

- Daybreak (1 Season)
- Deadset (Limited Series)
- iZombie (5 Seasons)
- Kingdom (2 Seasons)
- Reality Z (1 Season)
- Santa Clarita Diet (3 Seasons)
- The Walking Dead (9 Seasons)
- Z Nation (5 Seasons)
- Zombie Dumb (2 Seasons)
Starting with the movies, this Halloween is the best time to catch recent South Korean horror #Alive which proved to be a worldwide hit when it landed last month. Also don’t miss Martin Freeman-starring thriller Cargo and Day of the Dead: Bloodlines, the second remake of zombie master George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead, both from 2018. Make sure to give The Girl with All the Gifts a go, too, as it’s a vastly under-appreciated take on the genre.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a couple of familiar classics, why not revisit your childhood by watching Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, which remains the best movie outing for Mystery Inc. What’s more, Netflix has the very first Evil Dead movie up right now. You could stick that on ahead of a bingewatch of all three seasons of Ash vs. Evil Dead, which are also available.
Moving on to the TV side of things, then, Netflix has all five seasons of The CW’s recently-concluded iZombie and original Santa Clarita Diet, the comedy-horror series starring Drew Barrymore. British limited series Deadset, from Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, can also be found. Or, alternatively, there’s always the undisputed king of undead TV – The Walking Dead. Netflix currently has the first nine seasons in its library. The tenth will follow at a later date.
Which of these zombie movies and TV shows will you be checking out on Netflix this Halloween? Let us know in the comments.

Rey Was Almost Named Winkie In Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Yesterday saw the release of Lucasfilm Creative Executive Pablo Hidalgo’s book Star Wars: Fascinating Facts. This light-hearted stocking stuffer gives us a bunch of insight into what’s been going on behind the scenes on Star Wars. Most interesting is information on the period in the early 2010s when George Lucas was working on his version of the sequel trilogy.
This resulted in a treatment and concept art, though after Disney purchased Lucasfilm most assumed they had ignored it and done their own thing. That turns out not to be the case, as gossip over the years shown that J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy used many of Lucas’ ideas in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. For example, we just got confirmation that Lucas intended Luke Skywalker to be a regretful and sad hermit living in a cave that would die in the finale of Episode VIII.
Now we know more about the origins of Rey. Here’s how the Hidalgo tells it:
“The Force Awakens’ long journey from idea to finished film was filled with evolution, but one idea that remained constant from the start was that of a young woman’s quest to become a Jedi Knight. In George Lucas’ original outline, she was a 14-year-old girl named Taryn. In his subsequent iterations, she would briefly be named Thea and—believe it or not—Winkie. When writer/director J.J. Abrams came aboard, he simplified the names to placeholders… Thea became Sally… as the film neared production, Sally became Kira (which stuck as the production code name), then Echo, and finally Rey.”
Rey briefly being called Winkie puts a smile on my face and it’s fun to imagine frustrated marketing executives trying to get audiences excited about Winkie Skywalker. While saner hands prevailed and Winkie was ultimately named Rey, this is just another in a long line of very odd names Lucas came up with. My favorite example is him saying to confused game developers that the hero of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games either be called Darth Icky or Darth Insanius. Oh well, at least Elan Sleazebaggano made it to our screens intact.
This also goes to show that Disney didn’t completely trash Lucas’ sequel trilogy plans. There are still those who hold out the futile hope that one day Lucas will return to Star Wars and make ‘his’ sequel trilogy, no doubt hoping for him to ‘defeminize’ it and stop the ‘”soyification” of Star Wars. Well, if you’re dumb enough to want that then don’t look to George “Winkie Skywalker” Lucas as your savior.
