PSA: Epic will honor V-Bucks trapped on Apple platforms
With everything else going on, you may have momentarily forgotten Epic Games and Apple’s on-going legal battle over the Fortnite creator’s alternative payment system that got it booted off the App Store. The lawsuits are still playing out, but here’s a small positive: Epic announced last Friday that your V-Bucks stranded on the macOS and iOS versions of Fortnite will be honored and credited to your account so you can spend them on other platforms.
Epic says that players who purchased V-Bucks on iOS and macOS should receive their credit by today, November 9th. Those V-Bucks can be spent on any platform that can play Fortnite other than iOS or macOS.
Because Mac & iOS are blocked for Fortnite updates, we're beginning to grant a V-Bucks...

Bloodshot Sequel Still In The Works, Vin Diesel Now Returning
Bloodshot may not have been a huge success when it arrived back in March, but nonetheless a sequel is apparently still on the cards. The Valiant Comics actioner was primed by Sony to be the start of a new superhero cinematic universe to rival Marvel and DC, but unfortunately it came out just as the COVID-19 pandemic was causing theaters to close down and the result was that it made a mere $37 million globally off of a $45 million budget.
But producer Dan Mintz has now stressed that the studio is pleased enough with its performance on digital to move forward with a sequel. Mintz spoke to CBR and, though he didn’t mention any specific figures, he did say that the response to it was strong and that star Vin Diesel and the team are still committed to continuing the franchise.
A few months back, we had heard that they might simply reboot the property and recast Diesel, but it seems that plans have now changed, as Mintz had the following to share about what’s to come:
“I think [Bloodshot] was very successful in that respect, a lot of people saw it and it did very well in the post-release rollout but you can’t use the same evaluation process, pre-COVID, to this. [Are] Vin Diesel and all those people going to still continue? Yes, because it did so well and the response to it has been so well, it’s just that the response has been in a non-transparent environment, as opposed to a transparent environment like box office numbers.”
Of course, the producer does make a very good point here about COVID-19 completely changing how we judge a successful movie. Disney’s Mulan, for instance, must’ve made just a fraction of what it would’ve done in theaters when it was released on Disney Plus Premier Access, and yet it’s been talked about as a smart move for the Mouse House.
For those unfamiliar, Bloodshot features Vin as Ray Garrison, a fallen U.S. Marine who’s resurrected with an experimental nanite tech procedure that imbues him with superhuman abilities. Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan and Toby Kebbell co-star. It was torn apart by critics – standing at just 30% on Rotten Tomatoes – but Vin fans and action lovers definitely took to it, as its RT audience score is a much more robust 78%. Maybe there’s hope for a follow-up, after all, then?
Tell us, though, would you like to see another Bloodshot movie? Let us know down below.

Avengers: Endgame Artist Reveals Alternate Look For Warrior Thanos
The Mad Titan we saw in Avengers: Endgame was a different beast compared to his 2019 version. This Thanos was more than willing to destroy everything and everyone in his path, while the one viewers get to know in Avengers: Infinity War valued precision over brutality.
Even in terms of appearance, the last movie of the Infinity Saga gave the big bad a massive overhaul. For one thing, he was wearing his armor and wielding his sword, which made him even more menacing. Compared to its predecessor, which saw Thanos sporting a casual shirt, this was a big change in terms of tone.
The Mad Titan also needed to be an efficient fighter. When you consider their fighting styles, the character was reluctant to use his full powers against the Avengers in Infinity War, whereas 2014’s Thanos fought viciously and ruthlessly, managing to overpower each and every one of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes even without the gauntlet.
It seems, though, that the badass armor we saw wasn’t the Russo Brothers’ only choice. Concept artist Jerad S.Marantz recently took the time to post designs of a different version of the Mad Titan on his Instagram page, one that looks quite different from the one we saw in Endgame. Check it out below.
Not sure what it is, but something about this version seems a bit off when compared to the supervillain everyone has come to know and love. If anything, it actually resembles a Covenant Commander from the Halo franchise rather than an individual with godlike powers.
The MCU spent a lot of time perfecting Thanos for the last two films, especially Avengers: Endgame, so we’re glad that the final work feels more intimate and relatable as opposed to a generic menacing design.

Batman V Superman Designer Reveals How The DCEU’s Robin Died
When we first saw that desecrated Robin suit in Batman V Superman, we assumed we’d eventually get the backstory about what happened to the Dark Knight’s protégé in future DCEU movies. As it happens, though, the franchise has gone in a different direction and we never got the full story. We’ve had to rely on revelations from the filmmakers, then, to help us piece together what happened.
Now, thanks to the movie’s costume designer, we have finally learned exactly how Robin died. Douglas J. Stewart, AKA @AgentBrown1, explained the truth on Instagram. He shared a close-up image of one of Robin’s gauntlets, blackened and peeling, and revealed “a bit of detail” about it in his caption. It turns out Jared Leto’s Joker “brutally murdered” the Boy Wonder and then, just for laughs, set him alight.
Here’s Stewart’s full caption:
“A bit of detail on Robin’s gauntlet. He was brutally murdered and then set ablaze by the Joker. The story had to be told in the salvaged costume on display inside the Batcave. Aging and specialty distressing needs to tell these unscripted tales that support the main framework of the film. Here we had to create a Robin Suit in a matter of days. Using what we had and then figure out how to modify it all as well as building the support interior. It was a lot of fun.”
Originally, we assumed that Zack Snyder has simply lifted Robin’s death from the comics, where Jason Todd is beaten to death by the Joker in “A Death in the Family” arc. We’ve since discovered, though, that the dead Robin is Dick Grayson. And now we’ve been told that not only was Grayson brutally beaten like Todd was in the comics, but then his body was burned. Yup, that sounds like something suitably grimdark that Snyder would do.
The interesting is there’s a chance we could get to see this tragic event play out, after all. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to be the missing chapter in the director’s DC saga that the 2017 team-up flick failed to be, so he’s expected to further explore ongoing plot-threads like the coming of Darkseid and the Knightmare timeline. Remember, Leto is also on board for reshoots and we’ve recently heard that one of his scenes is a flashback to Robin’s death.

Henry Cavill Lost Two Famous Roles To Robert Pattinson
Henry Cavill is best known for his portrayal of the DCEU’s incarnation of Superman from Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, which was also where most people took notice of him. However, in the years prior to this, there were two roles he was up for that might have introduced him to general audiences a lot sooner, and by quirk of coincidence, he lost out on both of them to Robert Pattinson.
The first was for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Pattinson played the small yet significant part of Cedric Diggory, one of Harry’s opponents in the Triwizard Tournament. The character’s main purpose was at the film’s climax to be summarily killed prior to Voldemort’s resurrection to establish the overlord’s callous attitude towards human life, in case the Nazi allegory of the Death Eaters was too subtle for you.
The second was exactly what you’re already suspecting it was, that of Edward Cullen in Twilight. Stephanie Meyer is on the record as stating that Cavill had been her dream choice for the role many years previously, possibly due to his brooding and pouty performance as Albert Mondego in The Count of Monte Cristo or the awkward romantic Stephen Colley in I Capture the Castle, but by the time the YA vampire saga was being brought to life, he was too physically mature to convince as an eternal seventeen-year-old.
Cavill’s route to stardom went by the way of minor roles in the likes of fantasy adaptation Stardust and abysmal slasher Hellraiser: Hellworld, before landing a major part in historical drama The Tudors and starring as the protagonist of Immortals, a demented but forgettable action movie inspired by Greek mythology and loosely based on the legends of Theseus.
It’s no secret that the world of acting is a highly competitive one, with the number of roles available only able to accommodate a fraction of the performers auditioning for them. As such, there’s bound to be this kind of overlap in actors’ pasts, but it’s always interesting to look back on it, as it lets you wonder just how differently things might have turned out.

Google’s Nest Audio may or may not have a home theater trick up its sleeves
In our review of Google’s $99 Nest Audio speaker, we wrote that it’s “unfortunate that you can’t use two Nest Audio speakers paired with a Chromecast for home theater audio, like you can do with a couple of Amazon Echo speakers and a Fire TV.”
But it appears that Google originally intended to offer just such a feature — and we’re wondering if the company might still introduce it in the next few months.
As 9to5Google points out, Google seemingly forgot to remove a rather telling arrangement of words from the HTML source for its Nest Audio product page:
With Chromecast & Google TV Nest Audio becomes your home theater sound system.
The UK version of the page even had an alternate localization of the same sentence, which suggests intention....

Every last Slingbox will become a brick in two years
If you’re like us, you probably haven’t thought about the Slingbox in a good long while; the idea of beaming your own TV over the internet has largely been replaced by streaming TV services, even if watch-anywhere DVRs like the Fire TV Recast do still exist.
But if you are still relying on a Slingbox of your very own, you’re officially on notice: Dish subsidiary Sling Media is discontinuing all Slingbox products and will permanently shut down the Slingbox servers on or around November 9th, 2022 — “at which point ALL Slingbox devices and services will become inoperable,” says Sling.
Why now? Please enjoy this illuminating explanation:
Right then!
