‘Star Wars’ fans have a suggestion for how to make the ‘Rey Skywalker’ reveal more palatable

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a deservedly terrible reputation. Other entries in the franchise have their defenders, with Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi continually dividing opinion and generating debate, but there’s practically a consensus that The Rise of Skywalker – with its tin-eared dialogue, nonsensical plot, and the boneheaded decision to “somehow” resurrect Emperor Palpatine – is beyond redemption.

For many fans, the rancid cherry on top of this poorly baked cake is the finale, in which Rey buries Luke and Leia’s lightsabers in the Tatooine sand, declaring she’s now going to go by Rey Skywalker. This elicited groans in the theater, and is now considered yet more fetishizing of the past rather than moving on to new things.

DC diehards waiting patiently for an iconic villain to finally make a splash on the big screen

The internet is simultaneously holding its breath and screaming at the top of its lungs as James Gunn and Peter Safran get their hands dirty by rebuilding the DCU, namely by waiting with dwindling patience for more updates on the franchise’s first slate whilst loudly slagging Gunn for his dropping of Henry Cavill’s Superman, and other decisions that anyone familiar with the creative process – especially in this context – would understand.

For now, very little seems to be off the table for the franchise, and those are prime circumstances for the internet to fantasize about its hopes and dreams for the big screen turns of some of DC Comics’ most beloved characters. If recent events on r/DC_Cinematic are any indication, immortal villain Vandal Savage ranks near the top of many a DC fan’s wish-list.

Not every ‘Star Wars’ supporter is upset another year will pass without a new movie

December 20 marked the third anniversary of The Rise of Skywalker – to date the final theatrical Star Wars release. This wasn’t supposed to happen: in the late 2010s, Disney and Lucasfilm were planning on releasing a new movie every year, before the failures of Solo: A Star Wars Story and the disastrous The Rise of Skywalker saw the focus switch to Disney Plus shows instead.

Since then, Star Wars has made a comfortable home for itself on the small screen, with hits like The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor keeping the flag flying high for the franchise. Understandably, though, some fans are missing the cinematic experience:
