Between last December’s trailer and the more recent TV spot, we’ve now seen roughly three minutes of potentially altered footage from Avengers: Endgame, most of which does a pretty good job of keeping plot details to a minimum. But thanks to a new synopsis shared by Vue Cinemas, it seems we now have a few key details about the world that Avengers: Infinity War left our heroes in, and what they intend to do about it.
Teasing the continued relevance of a certain Mad Titan, as well as the arrival of Captain Marvel, the Endgame page on MyVue.com describes the film as follows:
“Things on earth are looking dismal. After the power of the infinity stones decimated half of the population, Thanos (Josh Brolin) has taken up the mantle as ruler of the universe, leaving the Avengers in ruin.
The demi-god will only expand upon his tyrannical rule – unless someone manages to stop him. So, with no time to mourn their losses, Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) must remain resilient and rally the remaining members of earth’s mightiest heroes – and call on the services of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).
Together, they must to figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies and defeat the Mad Titan, or suffer a hopeless existence…
Scarlett Johansson (Isle of Dogs), Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2), Robert Downey Jr (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Chris Evans (Gifted), and Chris Hemsworth (Bad Times at the El Royale) star in Avengers: Endgame, the final chapter in a culmination of a decade of Marvel blockbusters, and one not to be missed.”

One of the more surprising parts of this summary is the assertion that Thanos, having “taken up the mantle of ruler of the universe,” now aims to “expand upon his tyrannical rule.” This development doesn’t seem quite in line with Anthony and Joe Russo’s previous claim that Thanos is “retired” at the end of Infinity War. Regardless, despite various fan theories saying otherwise, the new synopsis seemingly implies that the purple tyrant will once more be the main villain, though Marvel Studios certainly isn’t above throwing us the odd red herring, so perhaps we can’t jump to conclusions just yet.
Another section of note in the synopsis is the claim that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will have “no time to mourn their losses” before they get to work reversing the events of Infinity War. This part seems to contradict the popular rumor that the film will feature a significant time jump after the events of the last movie, but again, you can bet that there’s plenty which the new description isn’t telling us. In any case, we’ll find out how the team intend to take down the Mad Titan when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
