Disney Plus commits to reducing streaming quality in Europe, delays launch in France

Disney will delay the release of its Disney Plus streaming service in France in accordance with government requests, Reuters is reporting.

The streaming service, which was supposed to launch on March 24th, will instead reportedly launch the week of April 7th, according to Disney. That’s two weeks after it was initially set, and two weeks after other European markets will get the streaming service. Disney has not said if people in other countries set to receive Disney Plus, including the UK, will face delays.

New subscribers in those regions will see a reduced quality in streaming, however, when the service launches. Disney will “lower our overall bandwidth utilization by at least 25 percent in all of the markets launching Disney Plus...

True Blood Star Reportedly Eyed To Play Joker In Live-Action Batman Beyond Movie

It’s no secret that everyone wants to see a Batman Beyond live-action movie. After all, you can’t really go wrong with a story that features the Caped Crusader, mixes in some elements of Spider-Man and takes place in a futuristic version of Gotham City. And though no such project has yet materialized, there’s been an awful lot of chatter lately that it’s going to happen soon.

In fact, sources close to WGTC – the same ones who told us National Treasure 3 is moving forward and that Ahsoka Tano will cameo in The Mandalorian season 2, both of which are now confirmed – say the studio is indeed working on putting together a live-action Batman Beyond movie. And not only do they want Michael Keaton to play Bats, but the plan is apparently to adapt Return of the Joker.

For those unfamiliar with it, this was an animated movie from the year 2000 and, quite frankly, is probably the single best Batman Beyond story ever. It’s also a pretty awesome film overall and well worth checking out if you somehow haven’t seen it. But with Return of the Joker set to form the backbone of this new project, who could play Mr. J?

Well, no one’s been settled on just yet, of course, as it’s still very, very early days for this live-action take on Batman Beyond, but one name we’re hearing that the studio is interested in is True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård. At least, that’s according to our sources – the same ones who also told us a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max and Diana will get her Golden Eagle armor in Wonder Woman 1984.

Presumably, Skarsgård is just one possible candidate for the role and again, with the development process still in such an early stage, Warner Bros. can always decide to go in a different direction. But frankly, The Legend of Tarzan star would be an interesting pick and could definitely deliver a chilling portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, don’t you think?

Zachary Levi Says Shazam Would Beat Thor In A Fight

Did you ever have those arguments with your friends when you were young about who would win in a fight? It was usually either about which friend’s dad would win (weirdly) or it was about action movie characters. Personally, I remember arguing whether a predator or alien would win. And then we sort of got our answer with the 2004 film, Alien vs. Predator.

Superheroes were also popular, though. Hulk vs. the Thing. Spider-Man vs. Daredevil. The Fantastic Four vs. the X-Men. We also came to the conclusion that Superman would defeat anyone and unfortunately, Batman would not fare well because he has no real super powers.

Hypotheticals are always amusing and we now have a new one with one of the actors portraying the character weighing in. When asked who would win in a fight between Thor and Shazam, Zachary Levi, with no bias whatsoever, stated that he believes Shazam is the clear winner.

“Shazam would win. That seems like a rhetorical question.” said the actor.

I think the gut reaction would be Thor because he’s perhaps the most powerful superhero in the MCU. But upon further review, Shazam might have him beat. He can fly, has super strength, shoots lightning out of his hands and feels no pain unless fighting another being like himself.

By contrast, Thor is obviously the God of Thunder, has immense strength and wields a mighty powerful hammer. He does, however, feel pain as seen in Thor: Ragnarok when he loses an eye. So, there is some vulnerability.

Thor might have the advantage now because Batson is still a 15-year-old kid, but give it a few years and the DC character will have some added experience and maturity under his belt. Remember, it took Thor many years to get past his own ego and cockiness to become who he is today.

Unfortunately we’ll probably never get to see these two fight on screen, but it would certainly be entertaining. Interestingly enough, though, Levi already dipped his toe into the Thor franchise playing Fandral, one of the hero’s dependable warriors. He didn’t fare so well in Thor: Ragnarok though and the actor has since said he’s glad he was killed off. If he hadn’t been, he might not have been cast as Shazam.

Star Wars Actor Says Carrie Fisher Groped Him The First Time They Met

Carrie Fisher was always known for her sense of humor, and it was her quick wit that made her an enduringly popular star for decades, although of course it obviously helped that she played a starring role in one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises in history. While Fisher will always be linked to Princess Leia and Star Wars, there was so much more to the actress’ career, and since her death, many friends and colleagues have come forward with hilarious anecdotes from their time working with her.

Sequel Trilogy star Greg Grunberg, who played Resistance pilot Snap Wexley, is the latest to speak out on how endearing Fisher was on set, revealing that the first time he ever met her during shooting for The Force Awakens, he quickly overcame his nerves about working with one of his childhood idols after she introduced herself to him in a rather upfront way, something that took J.J. Abrams’ childhood friend and frequent collaborator by surprise, as he revealed in a recent interview.

“We hit it off very quickly. We’re both filthy, fun, prepared actors, and we have the same sense of humor. I gave her sh*t the first minute I saw her. On The Force Awakens, my first scene was actually a scene where she’s cutting my character down, and then she walked towards me… She walked right towards me, wrapped her arms around me and grabbed my ass. And I didn’t even know her! I was thinking, ‘This is Carrie Fisher! I’m such a fan’. So, she did that, and J.J. walked up to me and goes, ‘Welcome to Star Wars‘.”

Leia’s return in the most recent installments went down hugely well with both longtime and newer fans of the franchise, and her tragic passing hit them hard, as well as the crew who were in the midst of working on The Last Jedi at the time. The Rise of Skywalker managed to give Princess Leia a fitting sendoff using footage they already had, bringing a tear to many an audience member in the process, but stories of her irreverent behavior and wicked humor from people like Greg Grunberg and the countless others that she shared a set with over the years will bring smiles to those who knew her personally, as well as millions of Star Wars fans.
