Deadpool Star Says He’s Hoping To Return For Third Movie

So far, the only returning star confirmed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Deadpool 3 is Ryan Reynolds, but that doesn’t mean the door isn’t still open for some other Fox alumni to show up under new ownership, especially when the MCU’s multiverse is now in play and the possibilities that come with an irreverent and self-aware superhero like Deadpool are endless.

Zazie Beetz said she’d be honored to return as Domino, while Josh Brolin’s strong relationship with Marvel Studios always means Cable is a possibility, even after he described Deadpool 2 as a business transaction. T.J. Miller almost certainly won’t be invited back, but two firm fan favorites that should definitely be under consideration are Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al and Karan Soni’s Dopinder, both of whom provided plenty of laughs as integral members of Wade Wilson’s makeshift family unit.

Having a mild-mannered cab driver with a ruthless streak ferrying him around has plenty of scope to continue mining for comedic gold, and in a new interview Soni admitted that while he hasn’t heard anything regarding Deadpool 3 quite yet, he’d be excited to return were the opportunity to present itself.

“I don’t know anything yet. All I have is that I initially signed up for four movies when they first sort of, did that thing, but that’s when it was at Fox. So I truly have no idea. When we were at Fox, they used to communicate a little bit more in terms of… I think the movies were a bit more of a priority for Fox. Disney can do what they want. So I think Disney’s sort of like, ‘You’ll come when we tell you to come, if we ask you to come’. In terms of him getting to comment on this merger and all of this stuff, I think there’s so much material there. As a fan I’m excited. I hope I get to come back, but if not, I’m happy I got to be part of something so cool.”

Typically, Marvel rebooting or continuing a franchise that started elsewhere would result in a complete break and a clean slate, but those rules won’t apply to Deadpool 3, especially when the Merc with a Mouth is virtually guaranteed to pass plenty of judgement on the Disney/Fox takeover and his opinions on being part of the MCU. After Reynolds confirmed that shooting is 70% certain to begin next year, it shouldn’t be too long until some concrete updates about the who, what, when, where and why of Wade Wilson’s third solo outing begin to arrive.

LeBron James Almost Wore Game Of Thrones Armor In Space Jam: A New Legacy

After waiting 25 years for the movie to come together, which included a string of minor controversies that ranged from the whole Pepe Le Pew fiasco to calls for a boycott based on leading man LeBron James’ social media activity via the discourse that Lola Bunny wasn’t hot enough anymore, Space Jam: A New Legacy finally arrived on July 16th to deliver one of the year’s most mediocre blockbusters.

James once again pulled the trigger on his itchy Twitter finger by blasting his detractors after the sequel opened to over $30 million domestically, but takings dropped by almost 70% the following weekend. It’s already starting to taper off at the box office with a little over $120 million in the coffers, still nowhere near recouping a budget that’s said to be at least $150 million.

It was essentially one big advertisement for HBO Max and the Warner Bros. back catalogue, so it’s actually shocking to hear that another corporate crossover never made it into the final cut. As you can see below, one abandoned sequence would have seen James sporting Game of Thrones armor, but instead A New Legacy made do with Foghorn Leghorn riding a dragon and shouting “winter as coming”, which is about as odd as it sounds.

It’s only been three weeks since Space Jam: A New Legacy was released, but it’s already fallen off the cultural map after a weekend of intense online debate and discussion. It doesn’t look as though Malcolm D. Lee’s follow up is going to turn out to be profitable, either, so maybe his idea for a third installment bringing in Dwayne Johnson and shifting the focus to professional wrestling is worth a shot given the stars’ reputation as self-proclaimed ‘Franchise Viagra’.

Ryan Reynolds Says Deadpool Is A Stressful Character To Get Right

Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, which he largely achieved by sticking to the same persona in most of his on and offscreen projects. As 2010’s underrated cult classic Buried proved, he’s a fantastic dramatic actor when the occasion calls for it, but he’s more than happy to rely on the quick-witted, sarcastic and sardonic template that’s served him so well.

You’d have to go a long way back to find the last time Reynolds ventured outside of his comfort zone, but fans don’t seem to mind, with Deadpool in particular the role he was born to play. It takes all of his signature characteristics, dials them up way past eleven and then drops them into an R-rated comic book blockbuster packed with in-jokes, Easter Eggs and fourth wall breaks.

As the leading man and producer who also contributes heavily to the writing process, you’d have thought the actor would have the Merc with a Mouth down pat at this stage. However, in a new interview Reynolds revealed that he still finds Wade Wilson stressful to embody, because he’s always pushing himself to make things better.

“I always think when I’ve got Deadpool just right, I’m speaking from experience from Deadpool 1 and 2, that I need to make it 30 to 40% percent better than it already it is. Even if I’m at the moment where I’m like, ‘This is perfect, this moment!’. Then, I stop and I go, ‘Okay, this has to be 30% better than it already is’. It’s a stressful thing to get right, or at least right as far as I’m concerned.”

Now that he’s on the press circuit for next weekend’s video game-inspired action comedy Free Guy, we’ve been getting more details and insight into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Deadpool 3 than ever before, and it’s looking as though the hotly-anticipated sequel could be gearing up to shoot next year, so let’s hope that Reynolds doesn’t pile any more projects onto his plate having shot Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Free Guy, Red Notice, The Adam Project and now festive musical comedy Spirited one after the other, and he’s still got John Krasinski’s Imaginary Friends set for a 2023 release.

The Suicide Squad Fans Love John Cena In The Movie

With his chiseled jaw, massive frame and reputation for being a clean cut good guy for almost the entirety of his run as a professional wrestler, it would have been easy for John Cena to chase the action hero dream. While he has to a certain extent, lending support in Fast & Furious 9 as Jakob Toretto to become the latest WWE alumni to join the family, he’s much better as a comic actor than he is playing it straight.

It’s no coincidence that the majority of his best performance have come when he ventures outside of his comfort zone, whether it be a self-obsessed cameo in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck, a tattooed drug dealer in Sisters or a scheming father in Blockers. The Suicide Squad‘s Peacemaker might be his best turn yet, with Cena playing the role as a walking embodiment of hypocrisy, who has no issues killing as many men, women and children as possible in the name of liberty.

As you can see below, fans have been getting a kick out of Peacemaker ever since The Suicide Squad started rolling out internationally last week, with James Gunn’s R-rated superhero blockbuster now playing in domestic theaters and on HBO Max.

Cena may have had to change his performance on the first day of shooting under Gunn’s instructions, but the filmmaker was clearly enamored with what the 44 year-old brought to the table having penned him his own solo series, which recently wrapped production and is set to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022. The Suicide Squad is a great showcase for what Peacemaker has in store, and it’s scene-stealing work in a movie brimming with multiple memorable figures.
