The prolonged gap between the third and fourth Phases of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies has left fans’ biggest questions unanswered. For instance, it’s been over a year since Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox and superhero diehards can still only speculate as to when they’ll see a new Deadpool film and how the Merc With a Mouth will fit into the comparatively kid-friendly MCU.
While we sadly don’t have the privilege of knowing the answers to these questions ourselves, we can at least offer some information as to what’ll purportedly happen to Wade Wilson at some point down the road. And it’s something that should make comic book readers very happy.
Sources close to WGTC – the same ones who told us Ryan Reynolds had a secret cameo in Hobbs & Shaw and a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max, both of which were correct – say that everyone’s favorite Weapon X ex-pat will be granted a major power-up during his next outing courtesy of Marvel Comics’ Lady Death (not to be confused with Image Comics’ Lady Death, because superhero comics are pretty crazy like that). Reportedly, she’ll be giving Wade enhanced powers as she has the hots for him. So, expect DP to be getting a little upgrade soon.
Of course, those familiar with the source material will know that Deadpool’s (literal) flirting with Death has led to some of the character’s most memorable moments, like entering a love-triangle with Thanos, who cursed Wade with immortality so that he could keep him apart from Death forever. We probably shouldn’t reveal much more about that storyline to avoid spoilers, but let’s just say that if it is indeed being adapted for an upcoming film, then we’re in for a treat.
That being said, Marvel often doesn’t stick exactly to the source material when it comes to the MCU, so it’s unclear yet how this will all play out. All we know for certain is that the Merc will be getting a bit of a boost in his speed, strength, etc., courtesy of Lady Death. And given that we know Thanos is going to be gunning for Deadpool at some point, he’ll certainly need all the help he can get.
We’ve hardly even seen much of Zack Snyder’s Justice League yet, but it’s already better than the version released in cinemas back in 2017. At least, that’s according to the one and only Darkseid himself.
Today, Snyder dropped our first look at a redesigned Steppenwolf online, which joins a previously clip the filmmaker has shared as pretty much all we’ve laid eyes on of the Snyder Cut to date. But that’s enough for star Ray Porter to declare that it’s already better than what Joss Whedon came up with for the theatrical edit.
Porter, whose uber-villain was not featured at all in the Whedon cut, took to Twitter today following Snyder’s post to praise what we’ve seen of his movie so far, saying:
“A 30 second video and a low res still. Already better than the entirety of that “other” version. F**k the trolls. This is gonna be epic,” Porter wrote on Twitter.

While Steppenwolf will still be the villain of the piece, Darkseid is expected to have a more significant role than you might think. This time, he’ll appear as part of the flashback to the ancient battle between Earth and Apokolips and he’ll also turn up in the present, too, encountering the League for the first time. The 30-second clip Porter mentions teased Darkseid’s arrival, as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was depicted inspecting a prehistoric cave painting of the tyrant.
Porter’s refusal to even mention Whedon’s name in his tweet shows just how little respect those involved with JL have for what he did with the film. Plus, we all know that Ray Fisher is no fan of the man himself, having publicly accused the Avengers director of abusive behavior on set during the reshoots. Fisher has hinted that he’s building a serious case against Whedon, too, so we’ll have to see how that plays out.
On a more positive note, we’re due the first trailer for the Justice League Snyder Cut during DC FanDome on August 22nd. Watch this space for more.
Twitter has had preliminary discussions about a “combination” with TikTok, the Wall Street Journal reported, making the social media platform the latest possible suitor for the popular video-sharing app. As the WSJ notes, it’s not clear whether Twitter would pursue a possible acquisition of TikTok, and any such deal would have big obstacles.
The biggest challenge to any deal is the Trump administration’s executive order from August 6th, which bars TikTok parent company ByteDance from handling transactions in the US. The order takes effect within 45 days. The administration considers the Chinese-owned app a potential security threat, despite no evidence indicating ByteDance or TikTok has ever shared Americans’ data with the Chinese...
