The University of South Carolina received a library of 180,000 comics from a life-long collector
The University of South Carolina received an unusual donation recently: the entire collection of a comic book collector from Ohio, totaling more than 18,000 comics, books, magazines, and other items, estimated to be worth around $2.5 million.
Some of the collection’s comics will go on display at the Thomas Cooper Library on August 29th. The debut of the collection will also be accompanied by a series of events at the school, such as talks by comic book authors and artists.
The collection includes a number of rarities, including Avengers #1, which depicted the first teamup of Stan Lee’s creations in 1963, along with titles that introduced characters like Spider-man, Batman, Black Panther, Iron Man, and more. The university says that...

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile Star Zac Efron Says Ted Bundy Got Away With Murder For So Long Because Of White Privilege
For a film about Ted Bundy – the serial killer synonymous with deception who confessed on death row to murdering at least 30 women throughout the 1970s – Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile certainly benefits from showing almost no violence whatsoever. For most of its runtime, it’s careful not to exploit the heinous nature of Bundy’s crimes, and commendably so. But that also makes for a rare and frustrating viewing experience, in that its shortcomings don’t steam from an unawareness of what it wants to say, but rather an indecisiveness in choosing how it wants to say it.
Directed by Joe Berlinger, Extremely Wicked examines how the murderer efficiently blinded almost everyone to the truth – a truth he withheld almost right up until his death. He did this with a mix of smarts, charisma and just a general charm that drew a lot of people into his lies.
But according to star Zac Efron, there’s something else that was working in Bundy’s favor, too. Speaking in a recent interview, the actor said that white privilege helped Ted get away with murder for so long.
“Ted Bundy is a vile, vile human being. There is no part of this at all… I can’t express how much I loathe the man that this movie is about,” he said. “The fact is that this movie really happened. The fact is that the whole world, literally, all the media, everybody, was capable of believing that this guy was innocent. Talk about white privilege, talk about white… whatever. Every major topic in this movie is bent on showing you how evil this person is.”
While that comment is sure to stir up some discussion, the film itself has been swamped in controversy as well for what people are calling a “hot” portrayal of the serial killer, with many saying that Extremely Wicked glorifies Bundy and his horrific acts. Efron, Berlinger and even one of Bundy’s survivors have all come forward to argue that the movie is an honest reflection of a man who hid his monstrous tendencies behind a charming façade, and whether you agree with that or not, we imagine this film will continue to find itself in hot water for a little while longer.
As far as quality goes, the critical reception to Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile has been a little mixed, but you can judge for yourself if it’s worth a watch as it’s now available to stream on Netflix.

Avengers: Endgame Referenced Cosmic Ghost Rider And We All Missed It
The surprises from the cinematic masterpiece that is Avengers: Endgame just keep rolling in. Not only is the finale to the Avengers saga set be the most profitable movie of all-time, but the list of easter eggs the producers threw in the film purely to please long time Marvel fans just keeps getting longer.
From Cap hailing Hydra and wielding Mjolnir, to multiple scenes teasing a possible Young Avengers movie, the theaters were full of fanboys and girls shouting excitedly at the screen. Seeing one of your favorite moments from the comics being fulfilled onscreen tends to make you squeal and if you’re a fan of the baby Thanos/Cosmic Ghost Rider arc from the source material, then you know which scene I’m about to write about.
Ant-Man had just brought time travel to the table, and the heroes were discussing how to rid the universe of the Mad Titan. War Machine suggests they go back and kill Thanos as a baby. A morbid scenario that reeks of nope? Sure, but it still seems like the most sensible, fool-proof plan, right? Well, not according to the comics.
In one of the many strange miniseries from comic book history, this plan was enacted but backfired cosmically. The Cosmic Ghost Rider, who was actually Frank Castle from the future, traveled back in time to murder the infant Thanos. He was unable to do it though and ended up raising Thanos as his own son. Turns out, it was Castle’s failures as a parent that turned Thanos into the f*cked up monster he was and in the story, Thanos the Punisher was born.
Strange scenario, indeed, and one that we should be happy didn’t end up playing out in the movie. But tell us, did you catch this or any of the other many easter eggs planted in Avengers: Endgame? Sound off down below and let us know

Avengers: Endgame Fan Gets Epic Revenge On Troll Who Spoiled Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame fans, this was bound to happen.
The record-breaking finale to the Avengers saga has caused fights, thrilled millions of moviegoers and made fans and actors alike break down and cry. And judging by the reactions on social media, it also seems that spoiling the flick should be an offense punishable by death. But damn, who knew that the movie would result in a tale of revenge that unfolded over an entire year?
Redditor Jus10Sch is a Marvel fan and like almost every other Marvel fan, he hates spoilers. When Avengers: Infinity War came out, he, like so many, was excited to see it. He posted on Instagram about his excitement and pleaded that nobody spoil it for him. Humans can really suck though, so someone replied to his post with a list of every character who died. Jus10Sch could’ve left it there, but then we wouldn’t have an epic tale of revenge to write about, now would we?
Over the course of the next year, he pretended to befriend the spoiling dirtbag. He lied, saying he’d been joking about not seeing Infinity War yet and they became fast fake friends, exchanging memes and discussing movies for months, until Endgame‘s release. The strangely devoted hero of our story then went to see it on opening night, took a boatload of pictures of the film (yikes) and prayed that the villainous SpoilerMan hadn’t seen it yet. Turns out Jus10Sch got his wish, and messaged his soon-to-be victim after watching the sequel.
According to Jus10Sch, here’s what happened next:
“In one glorious action, I sent all the pictures as fast as I could, messaging plot points along with the pictures. It was all over in like 30 seconds, but he definitely saw it all. Then he said “Why would you do that, we’re such good friends?” And I texted back, “we’re not friends, a year ago you picked me out of a crowd of thousands and ruined a movie that I had been wanting to see for months, since then I’ve been lying to you, deceiving you and gaining your trust all for this moment. You are not my friend, just a person who got what they deserve.” Then, he cursed me out some more, and I haven’t talked to him since.
Holy crap. You can read the entire story here, but for everyone involved, just wow. That’s all we can say.
