Hugh Jackman Reveals The Life Advice From Patrick Stewart That He Took To Heart

Patrick Stewart boasts almost 60 years of experience on both the stage and screen, so when the veteran actor offers up some sage words of wisdom, it’d be the sensible option to take them on board. That’s exactly what Hugh Jackman did, after revealing he goes out of his way to ensure that he doesn’t ever become too consumed by his work after his longtime friend and regular X-Men collaborator gave him some pointers.

Jackman has been firmly established as an A-list star for a long time now, but it must have been jarring at first for the relative unknown to rocket to international fame following the success of Bryan Singer’s X-Men in 2000. That sort of instant rise in profile often leads to the talent in question striking while the iron is at its hottest, leaving very little time for rest and relaxation.

In a new interview, Jackman explained how his esteemed co-star made that same mistake earlier in his career, and it opened the Wolverine icon’s eyes to the process of having at least a little bit of time to yourself before diving headfirst into the weird and wonderful world of show business.

“I’ve learned so much from Patrick. The greatest tip he gave me about life itself, not so much about acting, he said, ‘I learned when I was about 60, and I wished I had learned it when I was younger, I give myself time of day at the beginning’. So if he has a 5 am wake-up call for a film, he wakes up a 4 am, he goes and gets a cup of tea, he comes back to bed with his favorite book.

He says, ‘I don’t read the paper, it makes me angry. I don’t read emails, that stresses me. I don’t read a script, I get nervous. I just read a book, like a novel. So I know that no matter what happens for the rest of the day, I’ve had a half hour’. So I’ve done that. My wife and I wake up every morning and we get a cup of tea, coffee for me, and we sit in bed and we just read.

With his status on the upper rungs of the Hollywood ladder having been secured a long time ago, largely due to his two-decade tenure as the mutton-chopped mutant, Hugh Jackman hasn’t been as prolific in front of the camera as he once was, with next month’s sci-fi thriller Reminiscence marking just his fourth major live-action role since hanging up the claws in Logan. Even when he finds his schedule jam-packed, though, the 52 year-old will always have Stewart’s advice ringing in his ears to ensure he unwinds, if even for a short spell.

Deku Takes A Stand In New My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission Trailer

Toho Animation has released a new trailer for the upcoming movie My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission.

This new trailer gives a more thorough look at the film, illuminates more plot details, shows off new characters, and offers a release date. A subbed version of the trailer by Shonenzup is also available on YouTube.

Previously, a teaser trailer for World Heroes Mission was released this March alongside season five.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission will be the third movie in the animated franchise adapted from Kōhei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga. While the anime draws heavily from the manga, World Heroes Mission features an original story about a group called Humanize (also referred to as “Humarize”). The group, led by Flect Turn, believes quirks are a blight on humanity and seek to rid the Earth of heroes and villains alike with “Ideo Trigger Bombs,” which lead quirk users to lose control and cause mass destruction.

An international team of heroes, including U.A. students, unite to stop them. As the trailer highlights, Deku gets separated from his fellow students and labeled a villain over the course of the movie. With echoes of the manga’s current Villain Hunt arc, what’s in store for the young hero is still unknown.

The original cast and production team of the anime and film return, along with mangaka Kōhei Horikoshi as chief supervisor and character designer. We can already see some of his work in Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki’s new stealth outfits that adorn posters, key art, and the trailer.

Horikoshi also designed the new villain lead Flect Turn and the more mysterious Rody Soul, who gets caught up with a supposedly villainous Deku and ends up working alongside him.

Toho Animation announced My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission will be released in Japanese theaters on Aug. 6, 2021. While no information on a US release is available, the first two movies, distributed by Funimation, were box office successes. So it’s only a matter of time before the movie makes its way over to North America.

Red Guardian Contradicts Zemo’s Falcon And The Winter Soldier Backstory

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is famed for mapping out major story points years in advance, and in some cases it can be years before they get paid off. Now that the franchise has expanded onto television, Kevin Feige faces a tougher task than ever in making sure everything connects together in cohesive and satisfying fashion, but more inconsistencies are bound to crop up from time to time.

Following the release of Black Widow, Red Guardian’s mere existence presents a pretty big one, in relation to how The Falcon and the Winter Soldier repositioned Baron Zemo and slightly tweaked his backstory. In Captain America: Civil War, he was a man driven to seek revenge for the death of his family by tearing the Avengers apart from the inside out, a feat he very nearly accomplished.

However, in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier it’s established that he was part of a Sokovian special forces unit tasked with hunting down and eliminating super soldiers, long before his wife and child were killed. By that logic, someone with Zemo’s wealth and resources would have surely been aware of Red Guardian, given that he was Russia’s only survivor of the experiments. Black Widow also made it clear that he was famous enough to get his own action figure, so he was evidently a public figure as well, and yet Zemo apparently didn’t even attempt to take him out.

Of course, one explanation could be that Alexei Shostakov had spent over two decades in prison, so for all intents and purposes the Russian government may have declared him officially dead to cover their tracks to throw Zemo off the scent, but it’s a potentially interesting wrinkle that shows the MCU’s mythology is far being from completely watertight.

Watch: Final Snake Eyes Trailer Promises The Best G.I. Joe Movie Yet

This week, the G.I. Joe franchise finally returns to our screens after an eight-year absence with Snake Eyes, the origin story of the fan favorite ninja as played by Henry Golding. With the spinoff due in just a few days, Paramount has now released the final trailer for the action-packed epic – which you can see via the player above – that promises it’ll be “the best G.I. Joe movie yet”.

Not that that’s saying all that much. 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, starring Channing Tatum, and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, with Dwayne Johnson, weren’t exactly top-tier movies, but it looks like the studio may have at last worked out how to capitalize on adapting the toy and animated franchise to the big screen with Snake Eyes. The trailers so far have showed a lot of promise and this one only increases the hype.

Recapping footage we’ve glimpsed in earlier promos, Golding’s Snake Eyes receives his reward when he saves the life of Tommy Arashikage (Andrew Koji) and is taken to train at his secret family dojo. Soon, the lone fighter will have found both a home and a purpose – not to mention his classic costume. The trailer showcases brief moments with Samara Weaving as Scarlett and Ursula Corbero’s Baroness, with the final stinger teasing Tommy’s transformation into Snake Eyes’ nemesis, Storm Shadow.

Clearly, Paramount has big plans for this one. A sequel that would bring back Golding has been in the works for the past year and a live-action TV series based around Lady Jaye is headed to Amazon Prime. With a wealth of characters to choose from and flesh out, we could be in for a multimedia G.I. Joe cinematic universe. But first we’ll have to see how Snake Eyes performs when it releases simultaneously in theaters and on Paramount Plus (for the first 45 days) from this Friday, July 23rd.

A Dreadful Bruce Willis Movie Is Dominating Netflix Today

Bruce Willis has been on autopilot for a while. Push a pile of cash his way and he’ll star in anything, resulting in a string of abysmal straight-to-VOD duds like Hard Kill, Breach, Survive the Night, and Trauma Center. Despite being front and center on the posters, Willis generally plays a supporting role in these movies and expends the minimum effort needed to pick up his cheque. But now, for some reason, one of his worst is currently climbing the Netflix charts: Cosmic Sin.

The film opens with first contact being made with an alien race and Frank Grillo’s General Eron Ryle is growing impatient with politicians dragging their heels about the response. He chooses to go over their heads and assemble a team of experts, which includes Willis as war hero James Ford. They decide that Earth must strike first, with Ford picking a small group of soldiers who will take the fight to the aliens.

If you think that sounds like a fun premise then think again. Cosmic Sin sits at an eyewatering 3% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it “convoluted nonsense”, “an excruciating watch”, and “absolutely witless”. But the public clearly disagrees, as it’s got a decent 66% positive rating with more than 500 reviews. I still wouldn’t advise watching it, but there could be something to like here. Maybe.

Bruce Willis has a whole bunch of films of this ilk in various stages of production, most with super generic titles like A Day to DieKilling Field and Out of Death. But there are also the rumors of him returning to his most iconic role in Die Hard: Year One, rumored to be both a prequel and sequel to the Die Hard franchise. Then again, given how crap A Good Day to Die Hard was, maybe it’s best that John McClane stays in retirement.

MCU Theory Says Bullseye Could Become The Next Hawkeye

Once Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters in December, we’ll finally discover whether or not Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is making his grand return to mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, as has been repeatedly claimed over the last couple of years.

If he does, then we can shorten the odds on that She-Hulk cameo happening, too. Wherever Netflix’s Matt Murdock goes, fans would love to see Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin follow closely behind, but a new fan theory offers that the canceled show’s Bullseye could instead make a surprise return to the fold, and even replace Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Of course, there are numerous holes in the logic of this particular theory, most notably the entire premise of Disney Plus series Hawkeye revolving around Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop assuming the mantle of the MCU’s premiere archer. Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter was never officially given his Bullseye alter ego, either, and it’s difficult to imagine Marvel Studios plucking anyone other than the biggest names from the Netflix back catalogue for re-debuting.

Dark Avengers is used as the reasoning behind Bullseye making his return to MCU canon, and while we’ve heard on several occasions that the supervillain team masquerading as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes could be on their way to live-action, Netflix’s Bullseye seems like a long shot for inclusion.

After all, that means we’d be getting Bishop replacing Barton, with the latter then finding himself impersonated shortly afterwards. Three Hawkeyes certainly sounds like one too many, especially when there are still no guarantees or confirmations that any of the ex-Netflix residents are even heading back to the MCU, especially a minor one-season supporting player like Bethel’s Dex, so this sounds like one of the more unlikely scenarios we’ve heard recently.
