‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ proving surprisingly polarizing among fans

While Jason Reitman probably couldn’t make a Ghostbusters movie as divisive as the last one even if he tried, the release of Afterlife has stirred up an interesting and heated debate on the internet.

This is the sequel fans have been waiting for since 1989, one that sees the director following in his father’s footsteps to deliver a worthy supernatural comedy sequel that sets the stage for more installments to follow. Blockbusters made by the fans for the fans are a solid idea in practice, but it’s the execution that often lets them down.

‘King Richard’ viewers agree that Will Smith is getting the Oscar

It sounds a little cynical, but Warner Bros.’ King Richard is one of those movies that you can almost feel being precision-engineered with awards season glory in mind, not that it’s a bad thing when the quality of the film is so strong.

It’s got one of the biggest stars of the modern era getting serious and immersing himself fully into a career-best performance, based on the uplifting and inspiring true story that saw Venus and Serena Williams go from two broke kids in Compton to global superstars, household names and a pair of the all-time tennis greats.

The internet couldn’t be happier about Delroy Lindo joining the MCU

Almost two and a half years after Mahershala Ali was called onto the stage to end the franchise’s San Diego Comic-Con panel with a bang to deliver an unexpected surprise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Blade reboot has finally hired its first cast member outside of the leading man, with Delroy Lindo in final talks to board the project.

The veteran actor has been working solidly for almost 50 years, showing up in a number of acclaimed film and television projects during that time, but he’s in the midst of a well-deserved resurgence following a recent pair of acclaimed performances in Netflix duo Da 5 Bloods and The Harder They Fall.

Andrew Garfield is trending, and it’s got nothing to do with Spider-Man for a change

Andrew Garfield has been a hot topic on Twitter since the summer, as Spider-Man: No Way Home fans continue to debate whether or not he’s set to show up alongside Tobey Maguire in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, or he’s been telling the truth all along and he’s really not part of the movie.

The actor has grown visibly weary of facing the same line of questioning every time he steps out in public, so he’d be thrilled to find out that he’s been trending all night for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with his heavily speculated and widely expected return to the world of spandex-clad superheroes.

HBO Max’s DC movie ‘Blue Beetle’ casting a pair of major roles

The DCEU’s small screen expansion officially kicks off in January of next year when The Suicide Squad spinoff Peacemaker comes to HBO Max, but two feature-length titles are gearing up to start production in the very near future.

Batgirl co-director Adil El Arbi teased that cameras on Leslie Grace’s debut as Barbara Gordon are gearing up to roll, with Brendan Fraser, J.K. Simmons and Jacob Scipio among the supporting cast, while Angel Manuel Soto recently confirmed the reports that Blue Beetle would kick off in March 2022.

‘The Batman’ could be as long as ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises occupies the same territory as Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in that all three hotly-anticipated sequels drew decent-to-strong reviews from critics and made a ton of money at the box office, only for fan opinion to continue souring in the years since their respective releases.

As evidenced by the sheer number of movies that have tried in the thirteen years since, very few blockbusters have been able to replicate the magic of The Dark Knight, not even its own sequel. One thing most people would agree on is that Rises is a touch on the long side, though, and it would have definitely benefited from being tighter than 165 minutes.

‘Eternals’ writer explains why Eros was saved for the post-credits scene

Given that Marvel Studios released an official character poster with his face taking up roughly 90% of the image, we can safely assume that nobody’s trying to keep Harry Styles’ involvement in Eternals a secret anymore, which will be a shame for those who still haven’t seen it yet.

Of course, the former One Direction member’s surprise cameo was ruined from the second the world premiere ended, and things got so bad that Disney’s head of marketing was forced to urge fans on Twitter not to ruin the surprise heading into Eternals‘ opening weekend.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ tracking to obliterate pandemic-era box office records

Looking at how the hype train continues to gather speed and momentum with each passing day, Spider-Man: No Way Home should comfortably and rather easily become one of the biggest box office success stories of the pandemic, but how high can it realistically fly?

The industry is still struggling to return to its former glories, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel is on track to positively annihilated almost every existing benchmark to have been set since the beginning of 2020. Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘s $90 million domestic opening weekend and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ $225 million lifetime haul in the United States will be toppled, but Box Office Pro is indicating much bigger things.

‘Hawkeye’ producer plays coy on ‘Young Avengers’ rumors

Most Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are in agreement that the Young Avengers are on their way to either the big screen or Disney Plus sooner rather than later, because it’s not a coincidence that so many members of the team have been either teased or directly acknowledged since the beginning of 2021 alone.

Scarlet Witch’s twin boys Speed and Wiccan were introduced in WandaVision, while the future Patriot Elijah Bradley played a small supporting role in The Falcon and the inter Soldier, and Kid Loki actor Jack Veal openly admitted he’s more than happy to become part of the roster.

Tom Holland calls ‘Uncharted’ co-star Mark Wahlberg an absolute unit

Mark Wahlberg seized the headlines back in 2018 when he revealed his insane daily regimen, one that involves getting up at 2.30 in the morning and working out twice, in between all of his other daily activities as an actor, producer, business owner, husband, and father.

He may have turned 50 years old this past summer, but the guy is still in phenomenal shape, even if he did recently pack on the pounds to get into character ahead of biopic Stu. Given his extensive background in the action genre, it’s no surprise that Wahlberg keeps himself in peak physical condition, so much so that Uncharted co-star Tom Holland was forced to up his game.

Sylvester Stallone admits ‘Rocky IV’ might be a little too cheesy

Even though it first hit theaters in 1985, Rocky IV still ranks as one of the highest-grossing sports dramas ever made after earning $300 million at the box office, and it’s remained a beloved fan favorite ever since.

It might not be the best installment in the saga of the Italian Stallion, but it’s damn sure the most fun, packed with so many memorable moments that audiences love to this day, whether it’s SICO the robot butler, James Brown singing Apollo Creed to the ring for his final bout, the mountainous montage set to the wondrous “Heart’s on Fire”, or any of the other delightfully cheesy moments in a movie packed full of them.

Jeremy Renner says he loved shooting his action ‘Hawkeye’ action scenes

You’d have thought that maybe Jeremy Renner would be getting less enthusiastic about the intense stunt work required for his recurring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the actor turned 50 earlier this year, never mind the incident on comedy Tag a few years back that saw him break both of his harms.

In fact, quite the opposite is true, with the longtime Clint Barton admitting in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 that he loves the fight scenes and action sequences that come with the territory when you play a superhero in the most successful film and television franchise in history.
