The Batman May Be The Start Of An Entire Gotham Cinematic Universe

The good news just keeps rolling in for DCEU fans. Or, fans of what the cinematic universe could be.

We Got This Covered recently learned that instead of tying into Zack Snyder’s Caped Crusader, Matt Reeves’ The Batman will be more of a standalone film than a prequel. Now, we have another scoop that will not only affect the hero’s backstory, but his future as well.

According to a source close to WGTC, The Batman could be the beginning of a whole Gotham Cinematic Universe. And depending on how well it does, movies like Nightwing and Batgirl could follow. From what we understand, this will be entirely separate from the DCEU and exist as its own thing, kind of like Nolan’s Batman trilogy. And as long as Kristen Stewart does NOT don Catwoman’s leather suit, this is some pretty exciting stuff.

Again, though, it all hinges on how fans receive The Batman. And, of course, Robert Pattinson as a young version of Bruce Wayne. So far, reactions have been all over the place, but now that Pattinson’s been 100% confirmed as the new winged vigilante, time will tell how well he does. History shows us that we need to just chill out and give him a chance though. Remember that pretty boy from A Knight’s Tale, Brokeback Mountain and 10 Things I Hate About You? And how he became the best Joker ever? Yeah, Pattinson most definitely deserves a shot.

Personally, I grew up adoring Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League. They were always my choice of heroes over the Avengers so obviously, a Gotham Cinematic Universe is something that greatly excites me. The move to make Reeves’ film the start of a gritty, dark franchise full of younger stars is sure to keep the youthful audiences coming to theaters and personally, I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

But what do you think, DC fans? Slide down to the comments to share your thoughts on The Batman kicking off a Gotham Cinematic Universe and stay tuned for further updates.

Here’s How Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Could Look As The MCU’s Adam Warlock

It’s been more than two years now since the arrival of Adam Warlock was first teased in the post-credits of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And thanks in part to Disney’s ultimately reversed decision to fire director James Gunn from Vol. 3, it’ll likely be at least a couple more years before the character makes his MCU debut. Nonetheless, with a new image courtesy of popular fan artist BossLogic, we can already get some idea of how Adam might look when he finally makes the jump to the big screen.

The recently shared artwork imagines Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones fame in the role. As it stands, we’ve seen no evidence to suggest that the Jaime Lannister actor is being considered for the part, but now that Thrones is finished, perhaps the time is right for the star to find new work in the world of superhero cinema.

Though Marvel Studios remains quiet about their plans beyond Phase 3, one rumor that’s proved unusually persistent is that Zac Efron is in the running to play Adam. Meanwhile, another character who’s come up a lot in recent reports is Rocket Raccoon’s creator. It’s even become a prominent bit of hearsay that Star Wars legend Mark Hamill is being eyed for the part.

Regardless, there’s currently not a lot we can say for sure about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the closing minutes of Avengers: Endgame at least offered a few hints. For one thing, it’s implied that the team will have a new member in Thor, who may have a bit of a rivalry going with Star-Lord. What’s more, though Gamora is no longer part of the gang, it looks like the new, alternate dimension version of the character will return for the threequel. In any case, there’ll be plenty of time for further details before the film goes into production, which may be as soon as next year.

Will Mark Hamill End Up Playing Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’s Villain?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may still be a few years away from reaching theaters, but James Gunn’s threequel has already been the subject of a fair amount of rumors and speculation online. For example, it’s become a popular prediction that the film will bring about the MCU debut of Adam Warlock, and there’s even a rumor going around that Zac Efron could be up for the part.

Meanwhile, another report that sprung up online a while back is that Star Wars legend Mark Hamill is being eyed to play the mysterious creator of Rocket Raccoon. And while his involvement has yet to be confirmed, a source close to We Got This Covered told us the other day that Rocket’s creator will indeed be the villain of the film.

But what are the chances of the beloved actor actually taking the role? Well, ComicBook.com has looked over the evidence and put together a pretty compelling case for why we may see Hamill in the MCU.

For one, as we said above, we already know he’s being eyed. Hamill and Gunn have discussed the role and teased fans about the prospect on Twitter in the past. But beyond that, Rocket’s creator is known as the High Evolutionary, which would likely be a motion-capture performance, if not fully computer generated. As such, the most important part would be getting the voice right and Hamill’s well known for his terrific voice acting. Especially when it comes to unhinged villains.

Not to mention that Marvel’s been snatching up one A-lister after another for their MCU baddies (see: Jude Law, Michael B. Jordan, Kurt Russell, Michael Keaton, Jake Gyllenhaal, etc.) For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, they’re clearly going to be aiming high and having Hamill on board would give the threequel a massive boost.

But again, nothing’s been confirmed just yet and for now, the role of the High Evolutionary remains very much vacant. That being said, with pre-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starting to warm up, we should hopefully hear some more juicy rumors soon, before the official casting news follows. As always, watch this space for further updates.
