Amber Heard’s Reportedly Had Talks With Sony For A Marvel Role As Well

Amber Heard has only appeared in one movie since she played the female lead in the highest-grossing DC Comics adaptation ever made, and last year’s low budget drama Gully slipped entirely under the radar. The actress may not have lost her job starring in a major Warner Bros. franchise after ex-husband Johnny Depp was booted from Fantastic Beasts by coming out on the losing end of his libel case against a British tabloid, but the negative publicity could soon see offers dry up for the DCEU’s Mera.

So far, Heard has ignored any and all of the backlash surrounding her continued involvement in the superhero sequel, and has even suggested that the campaigns against her are being funded in an effort to damage her reputation. Seeing as the initial petition to have her replaced as Mera in Aquaman 2 has gathered over a million signatures, if her outlandish claims turn out to be true then clearly someone with very deep pockets has a bone to pick with her.

It was reported the other day that Heard was actively looking to secure a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an attempt to grab another high paying gig in the event that things soon go sideways, but we’ve since heard from our sources – the same ones that told us Thor: Love and Thunder would be adapting Jane Foster’s cancer storyline months before Natalie Portman confirmed it – that the 34 year-old has also spoken to Sony about joining the SPUoMC in case she gets knocked back by Kevin Feige and his team.

Johnny Depp’s star may have faded dramatically, but given Amber Heard‘s prominent role in her former spouse’s fall from grace she could soon end up suffering from the same kind of problems as the various studios around town think twice about signing her up in the future.

Jamie Lee Curtis Is Battered And Bruised In Halloween Kills BTS Photo

Blumhouse face a tough task in trying to keep awareness levels of Halloween Kills up for another eleven months, with the promotional campaign already starting to kick up a notch or two before the slasher sequel was delayed by an entire year. There’s been no shortage of behind the scenes and set images revealed from the twelfth installment in the long-running series, but so far the only footage we’ve seen has been very brief teaser trailers.

Jason Blum is adamant that Halloween Kills is arriving in theaters in October of 2021 no matter what, and surely the industry will have returned to something at least resembling normality by then. The producer didn’t even want to delay the movie in the first place, but with virtually no major titles hitting the big screen for the rest of the year it was the smarter decision in the long run to protect the earning potential of what will no doubt be a box office success.

Jamie Lee Curtis may be 61 years old, but the franchise stalwart has shown that she’s not above putting herself through the wars in the name of our entertainment, and you can check out the actress’ latest BTS image from Halloween Kills below.

Michael Myers was never going to make things easy for his arch-nemesis Laurie Strode, and based on the cuts and scratches in the image the legendary scream queen will end up regretting her decision to trap Michael in a burning house and simply hope that the fire would kill him off for good, because we already know from the first Halloween Kills teaser that she’s skeptical that the iconic serial killer is truly out of the picture.

David Fincher Says Joker Was A Betrayal Of The Mentally Ill

Martin Scorsese was attached as one of the producers when Joker was in the early stages of development, but despite departing the project long before cameras started rolling the legendary filmmaker’s fingerprints are still all over the finished product. Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy are clearly two major influences on Todd Phillips’ movie, with Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck sharing many similarities with protagonists Travis Bickle and Rupert Pupkin, not to mention the meta casting of Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin.

Taking a dark, twisted psychological drama with a main character that’s very clearly suffering from some kind of psychosis and wrapping it in the clothes of a comic book story was a bold creative decision to make, and one that paid off very handsomely. Straddling the line between awards season favorite and box office behemoth is a move that very few movies manage to pull off, but Joker raked in over a billion dollars globally and saw the leading man scoop an Academy Award for Best Actor.

No stranger to making movies and TV shows about troubled individuals himself with Seven, Fight Club, Gone Girl and Mindhunter among his back catalogue, David Fincher recently had some harsh words for Joker, and went so far as to call the R-rated thriller out for betraying the mentally ill.

“I don’t think anyone would have looked at that material and thought yeah, let’s take Travis Bickle and Rupert Pupkin, and conflate them, then trap him in a betrayal of the mentally ill, and trot it out for a billion dollars.”

Joker was certainly no stranger to controversy in the buildup to release, with many fearing the impact the movie could have on certain sections of society. It turned out to be nothing though, and most people took the DC adaptation at face value as a unique and interesting spin on a genre that’s been almost done to death over the last 20 years.
