Watch the first trailer for Square Enix’s Avengers, coming on May 15th, 2020
Square Enix’s Avengers game finally has a trailer, revealed this evening during the publisher’s E3 2019 press conference. The game was first announced two and a half years ago, when Marvel Entertainment revealed it was working with Square Enix and its studios Eidos Montréal (Deus Ex) and Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind the Tomb Raider reboot. News about the title has been sparse in the years since, but tonight we got our first look the superhero game and a lot more details.
Notably, the character models for the Avengers are drastically different than their Marvel Cinematic Universe counterparts. So no Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Chris Evans as Captain America. Instead, Crystal Dynamics has created custom looks for each...

New Marvel Casting Call May Tease Norman Osborn In The MCU
For the most part, and despite Tom Holland’s shocking ability to seemingly spoil everything, Phase 4 of the MCU has been kept mostly under wraps.
While we know that Spider-Man: Far From Home will act as a post-Endgame epilogue to Phase 3, with the film focusing on Peter Parker (and Mysterio!) dealing with the ramifications of Thanos’ snap, Kevin Feige and co. haven’t told us a whole lot about what comes next. And long may that continue, as we’ve no doubt that they’ve got a ton of surprises in store for us.
This being the MCU, though, there are always going to be leaks and rumors circulating and the latest comes to us courtesy of an interesting casting call, which seemingly confirms earlier reports that Norman Osborn has been earmarked as the MCU’s next big bad. Though it doesn’t explicitly state his name, when you dig into it, it all fits together rather nicely.
You see, the casting call is looking for someone to play a character known only as The Benefactor. Clearly, that’s a codename, but Marvel is apparently seeking “a male actor, preferably Caucasian, in their 40s to 60s,” to bring to life a “mysterious and nefarious benefactor.”
That on its own would be enough to throw the speculation into overdrive, but it’s even more intriguing when you remember that in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Sonny Burch was working for a wealthy benefactor, and many fans have thought ever since the sequel’s release that said benefactor was Norman Osborn.
Again, there’s been no firm confirmation that it’s indeed the iconic villain that Marvel is now casting, but the evidence is certainly mounting and with any luck, maybe we’ll get some concrete answers after Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2nd.

Final Fantasy VII Remake’s new trailer shows off combat, Tifa, and Sephiroth
Final Fantasy VII Remake will feature completely revamped, dynamic battle system. Square Enix showed its most detailed look at the game yet during its E3 2019 press conference, including a first look at beloved characters Tifa and Sephiroth.
The remake will include a battle system that is a hybrid of real-time action and strategy-based combat. In tactical mode, time slows to a crawl so players can choose commands like limit breaks or magic attacks. As players build their focus gage, they can also stagger enemies and deal extra damage. Although we’ve yet to see gameplay beyond Midgar, where the game’s opening is set, Final Fantasy VII Remake’s take on the city will apparently be robust enough to act as a “standalone game.”

Facebook plans to unveil new Portal hardware this year
New versions of the Facebook Portal, the social media company’s video-calling smart speaker that launched in November 2018, are coming this fall.
Andrew “Boz” Bosworth, Facebook’s vice president of AR/VR, told The Verge’s Casey Newton at Recode’s CodeCon the company has “lot more that we’re going to unveil later in this fall,” related to Portal, including “new form factors that we’re going to be shipping.”
It’s unclear what those new form factors look like, but TechCrunch speculated this could be the “Ripley” device that’s appeared in Portal firmware repositories. A report from Cheddar further suggested that “Ripley” would allow customers to attach a camera to the top of their television sets and bypass needing a device dedicated to...

Avengers: Endgame Directors Reveal Their Nickname For Young Thanos
Thanks to its complex time-traveling plot, in many cases Avengers: Endgame features multiple versions of the same character. One of the most significant instances of this, possibly the most significant, is Thanos. At the beginning of the movie, the Avengers easily kill the present-day Mad Titan, who’s not only been gravely injured by using the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War but is also calmer and more at peace in himself.
Then, a younger Thanos from an alternate version of 2014 makes himself known for the grand finale, laying waste to the Avengers compound and facing the entirety of the MCU as he plans to get his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet and this time wipe all life in the universe out and rebuild reality in his image. To put it plainly, this Thanos is a lot meaner, crazier and more dangerous than the one from Infinity War.
For the Russo brothers, it was hugely important to see the young Mad Titan as his own character. While speaking to Empire, Anthony Russo revealed that the filmmakers even had a nickname to refer to the time-traveling Mad Titan, who they feel is more reckless and “self-confident” than his older “enlightened” counterpart.
“We refer to him as Warrior Thanos, the version of the character before he put down his armor and became enlightened and wanted to search for the stones. He’s angrier; it might be his flaw in the film, that he’s a little bit more precocious and self-confident, not quite as enlightened.”
Writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have previously explained why they killed off old Thanos so early into the movie’s runtime. When scripting, the pair struggled to work out where the villain should go next in the story when exec producer Trini Tran suggested they just kill him off – the idea of the present Thanos allowing himself to die then came from there.
Thanos is certainly dead at the end of Avengers: Endgame – twice over – but there’s still a possibility his backstory will be explored in The Eternals.

Avengers: Endgame Writers Have No Idea If Thor Will Be In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
Avengers: Endgame wrapped up the stories of most of the original six Avengers, but it teased a possible exciting new direction for Thor. At the movie’s close, the God of Thunder is seen hitching a ride back into space with the Guardians. He even dubs the team “the Asgardians of the Galaxy.” That suggested he was there to stay, meaning many fans took it as red that Thor would be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
However, writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus appear to have confirmed that they didn’t intend for the scene to be interpreted this way. While speaking on the Empire Podcast, the duo admitted that they have no idea if Thor will have a role in the upcoming threequel from James Gunn. Though obviously, it has to be said that the pair wouldn’t spill the beans even if they did.
Still, taking their comments at face value, this fits with Chris Hemsworth’s own uncertainty about where his character will go from here in the MCU. Although, the actor has also said he’d be up for joining the Benatar crew fulltime and showing up in Vol. 3. At least one of the Guardians, Karen Gillan AKA Nebula, says they’d welcome him aboard, but only if he stays as the shabbier, drunken Thor from Endgame.
If it doesn’t end up happening, though, then that might not be bad news. After all, Thor 4 is thought to be on the way. Tessa Thompson’s told us that it’s been pitched to Marvel, with herself and Korg/director Taika Waititi expected to return. A subsequent report has assured us that the film’s being discussed as well and will “definitely happen.”
What do you think would be best for the God of Thunder, though? Thor 4, or a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Have your say in the comments section below.

AMD blows minds with a 16-core 7nm gaming CPU that works like any other Ryzen
“I don’t think there’s any reason people would buy an Intel processor after we do this,” says AMD’s Travis Kirsch.
It’s not the first time during my weekend in Los Angeles that I’ve heard such hubris, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s deserved. Because AMD is about to release a wave of 3rd gen Ryzen desktop CPUs that — on paper — sound like they might trounce Intel for the first time in years.
At AMD’s Next Horizon Gaming Event, on the outskirts of the E3 2019 gaming show, Kirsch isn’t even referring to the just-announced 16-core, 32-thread $750 Ryzen 9 3950X processor, which — with its 3.5GHz base clock, 4.7GHz boost clock, a tremendous 72MB of cache and an unheard-of 105W TDP for that many cores — sounds like it could give AMD’s own 3...
