Dwayne Johnson Is The Highest-Paid Actor For The Second Year In A Row
Forbes has released their annual list of the highest-paid actors and the common denominator throughout the list is Netflix and the amount of money they are willing to pay to have a major star headline one of their movies.
For the second year in a row, Dwayne Johnson comes in at number one with $87.5 million earned in 2020. A major factor is the $23.5 million Johnson is collecting from Netflix to star in their upcoming action movie, Red Notice, which will resume filming next month after shutting down due to COVID-19.
Right behind Johnson is Ryan Reynolds at $71.5 million for the year. The Deadpool star made $20 million a piece for Six Underground and the aforementioned Red Notice (Both at Netflix) and the streaming giant recently announced a third collaboration with the Canadian actor down the road.
Rounding out the top three is Mark Wahlberg with $58 million and that’s right, a Netflix movie (Spencer Confidential), is the driving force behind Wahlberg’s big year.
If you want to know Netflix’s true power in Hollywood, look no further than number nine on the list where Adam Sandler sits with $41 million made. Once the most reliable box office draw in the business, Sandler hasn’t had a theatrical hit in years. But thanks to his lucrative deal with the streaming service, Sandler remains as relevant as ever.
One notable newby to this year’s list is Lin-Manuel Miranda at seven. Thanks to Disney acquiring the streaming rights to Hamilton for $75 million, Miranda comes in with $45.5 million in 2020. The remaining names include Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, Will Smith and Jackie Chan.
An important factor to consider when thinking about this list is that it doesn’t just account for success in movies. Endorsements and social media presence are also a part of the metric and when you put it that way, no one rivals Dwayne Johnson. He really is the people’s champ.

Watch: The Amityville Harvest Trailer Will Give You Nightmares
This year’s Halloween season has been thought of by many as the light at the end of the dark and depressing tunnel that has been 2020 so far. After all, even if it’s still not safe to get together with all your friends like you do every year, you can still get into the spirit of the season by watching any of the many new horror movies and shows releasing around the year’s greatest holiday. But if you don’t already have a frightening new release to look forward to this October, Lionsgate has got you covered with The Amityville Harvest.
Little has been revealed about the new film from writer-director Thomas J. Churchill, but the trailer above seems to tease haunted funeral parlours, a visibly malicious antagonist whose image and voice cannot be recorded, crazy cannibalistic butchers and some other unspecified monsters for good measure. At the risk of spoiling the plot, it doesn’t really seem as though fruits and vegetables will have much of a presence in the titular harvest.
Like just about every new movie release for the foreseeable future, The Amityville Harvest will go directly to the convenience of your own home via DVD, Digital and On-Demand services, so fans of the 41-year-old series will not need to risk a trip to the theater in order to watch it. The pic curiously appears to lack a Blu-ray edition though, as no such release is mentioned in the trailer or on Lionsgate’s website.
The Amityville Harvest stars Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort) and Kyle Lowder (Days of Our Lives, The Bold and the Beautiful) and is scheduled to make its debut on October 20th.

Zack Snyder Teases Justice League Vs. Superman With New Snyder Cut Image
Fans are pretty optimistic that the Snyder Cut of Justice League will be markedly better than Joss Whedon’s theatrical version. After all, Zack Snyder has been treating us to completely new and unscreened clips from his edit like the one featuring our first glimpse of Darkseid. We’ve also seen some drastically altered (and way cooler) snaps of characters like Steppenwolf and leaked concept art of the Padaremons. Not to mention that clip from his cut that showed off Henry Cavill in Superman’s black costume visiting Alfred.
More recently, Snyder has been stirring up anticipation among the DCEU loyal with the promise of a trailer release at the DC FanDome virtual event on August 22nd. His latest tweet is a little behind the scenes sneak peek at him working in the editing studio on exactly that. “Getting ready for DC FanDome,” he says in the caption.
From what little can be gleaned from the photo below, it looks to be a snippet from the Justice League versus Superman fight scene. Judging from the feet alone, it seems like Cyborg is up front, flanked by Aquaman and Flash. Unfortunately, however, we can’t zoom in any further and study the reflections in the frame by yelling out “enhance!”

Of course, there are sure to be more surprises in the trailer that we haven’t accounted for, maybe even a Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter cameo or teaser. Unless Snyder is planning to save those reveals for the film’s full release on HBO Max, which he may indeed be doing.
After all, with the movie reportedly clocking in at over 3.5 hours and Zack adamantly stating that he won’t use any frames that he didn’t film, the Snyder Cut of Justice League is bound to be packed with hours of unseen footage. And frankly, we can’t wait to see it.
