Drone truck startup Einride unveils new driverless vehicles for autonomous freight hauling

Einride, the Swedish autonomous trucking startup, unveiled a new vehicle type that the company hopes to have on the road delivering freight starting in 2021. The vehicles, dubbed Autonomous Electric Transport (AET), came in four different variations. And much like Einride’s previous prototypes, they come without steering wheels, pedals, windshields, and, in general, no cab at all.

Einride has been in the business of releasing interesting, eye-catching prototype vehicles since it was founded in 2016. There was the cab-less T-Pod, released in 2017, four of which are operating on public roads hauling freight for Oatly, the Swedish food producer. A year later, the company unveiled the T-Log, built to be more powerful than its predecessor for...

Netflix Set To Lose Another Great Disney Movie This December

The streaming wars continue to heat up as various services compete for subscribers, but it’ll be a long time yet before any platform will be able to rely exclusively on in-house content. As a result, the legal minefield of distribution rights will only become more tangled over the coming years as the likes of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, NBCUniversal’s Peacock and Disney Plus slowly but surely regain the rights to their titles that have been leased out to rivals such as Netflix and Amazon.

The former boasts the strongest library of originals, of course, which isn’t surprising when you consider that they’ve been moving away from pre-existing movies and TV shows for a while now, while Disney Plus is weakest on fresh programming but has the benefit of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar, Star Wars and virtually the entire animated and live-action back catalogue, not to mention their recent acquisition of Fox moving a whole host of major properties under the Mouse House’s umbrella as well.

The latest movie to be finding a new home there in the near future is Wreck-It Ralph sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet, which will be leaving Netflix on the 11th of December and then presumably pitching up on Disney Plus in short order. While that’s hardly earth-shattering news, it does mean that there will be very few Disney movies to be found among the entire Netflix library by the end of the year.

Of course, there are still a small handful of them hanging around, but the list is only going to get shorter with Marry Poppins Returns also due to depart soon, as Netflix‘s option on the sequel expires in January 2021. Although, based on the amount they’re planning to spend on original content in next year, it isn’t like the execs are going to be losing much sleep over it.

Watch: The Croods: A New Age Promo Teases The Return Of Ryan Reynolds’ Guy

The Croods are coming back this Thanksgiving – and this new promo for The Croods: A New Age teases the return of Ryan Reynolds as Guy. It’s been many a year since we were introduced to the prehistoric family, but their second big-screen adventure is finally on its way. And the whole cast of the original is involved – Emma Stone as daughter Eep, Nicolas Cage as dad Grug, Catherine Keener as mom Ugga and the Deadpool star as Eep’s vain boyfriend, Guy.

The first full trailer for The Croods 2 saw the caveman clan encounter the Bettermans, a more highly evolved family – as voiced by Peter Dinklage, Leslie Mann and Kelly Marie Tran. The Bettermans invite the Croods to stay with them in their tropical paradise, introducing them to the latest advances in civilization along the way. In this short new promo, Guy discovers the world’s first ever shower.

Earlier this year, Universal and DreamWorks made headlines by making Trolls World Tour the first major movie released via streaming instead of theatrically in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. That turned out to be a hugely beneficial move for the studio. It’s interesting, then, that they’ve elected to continue with the traditional route with The Croods 2, which is due in cinemas this Thanksgiving – November 25th.

Here’s a bizarre coincidence… That means we’re in for a double helping of Ryan Reynolds movies where he plays a character named Guy just weeks apart. He’s likewise the star of 20th Century Studios’ action-comedy Free Guy, also featuring Jodie Comer and Joe Keery, which is hitting the big screen in December – unless plans change. If anyone can try and help us end 2020 on a more enjoyable note, it’s this guy.

Are you excited to catch up with The Croodsseven years after the first film came out? Join the conversation in the comments.

Netflix Announces First Wave Of New Movies/Shows For November

For the rest of this month, the focus for both the multitude of streaming services on offer and their subscribers will be on content designed to scare you out of your seat as the buildup to Halloween continues. However, almost as soon as the clock strikes midnight on the spookiest day of the year, the focus will immediately shift to Christmas.

Each year a countless barrage of festive movies and TV shows are released, but very few of them manage to penetrate the public consciousness and elevate themselves into the pantheon of all-time greats like It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Scrooged, The Muppets Christmas Carol, White Christmas, A Christmas Story and depending on your personal opinion, Die Hard.

As the world’s leading platform, Netflix are obviously going to go heavy on the festive angle once again, but November also brings the release of several major titles from a variety of different genres, not to mention a beloved show that’s the equivalent of televised comfort food, as you can see below, with the following list courtesy of the folks over at What’s On Netflix.

November Dates TBD

  • Alien Xmas (2020) – Christmas feature film about aliens attempting to steal Earth’s gravity.
  • A Queen Is Born (Season 1) – Portuguese reality series featuring two drag queens that’s essentially Drag Race – rumored for November 11th.

What’s Coming to Netflix on November 25th

  • The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020) – Kurt Russell boots up as Santa Clause again with Christmas once again under threat from a new source.

So, lots to get excited for, then. For one, Ron Howard’s star-studded drama Hillbilly Elegy will debut next month along with David Fincher’s hotly-anticipated Mank, both of which could find themselves firmly in the awards season race. Meanwhile, The Crown will also return for season 4 and introduce Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher into the mix, as the prestige drama looks to reinforce its reputation as one of the best shows of the modern era.

Then there’s the usual array of Christmas content, but based on how the internet seems to love it so much, the real dark horse coming to Netflix next month is probably the latest edition of The Great British Baking Show, which looks set to offer the ideal opportunity for binge watching.
