The MCU’s Sentry may have already been cast, and Marvel fans have a lot of thoughts

Rumors have been building over the past few months that Thunderbolts will be much more integral to the growing MCU than we thought as word has it that it will introduce the Sentry into the franchise. For those not aware, Robert Reynolds is one of Marvel’s own answers to DC’s Superman, with the Sentry operating on a whole other level of power to most of the Avengers. And now it’s possible that the role has been cast, which has caused fans to pretty much lose their minds.

According to whistleblowing Twitter account CanWeGetSomeToast, previously announced Thunderbolts cast member Steven Yeun is indeed playing Sentry, as per earlier chatter. While this is far, far from confirmed at this juncture, other insider Grace Randolph is also dishing out similar information, so the odds are certainly looking like the Oscar-nominated star will be our Sentry.

Revamped MCU Rotten Tomatoes ranking sees Phase Four miraculously claim the top two spots

Marvel’s post-Avengers: Endgame era has come under intense scrutiny for continually serving up some of the worst-reviewed entries in the entire MCU. Phase Five opener Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was supposed to wipe away all the negativity surrounding Phase Four, but it only went and doubled down on it by earning the franchise’s joint-worst score on Rotten Tomatoes. And yet, this revamped ranking of the movies based on RT’s ratings proves that it’s all subjective.

One Redditor decided to take the critics and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes and create a combined score for each MCU film to date, and the result was that it changed the franchise’s qualitative ranking pretty substantially. For starters, the impossible happened, and Phase Four, the most widely derided of all Marvel phases, now claims the two top spots on the list. According to this combination ranking, the greatest MCU movie of them all is Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in second.

Jon Favreau opens up on following in George Lucas’ footsteps as the overseer of ‘Star Wars’

Jon Favreau has big shoes to fill; admittedly, it’s a nigh-impossible task to fully don the kicks of the man who literally sat down and wrote Star Wars (even if it happened to include the prequel trilogy), but as we’ve seen throughout his time as this era’s George Lucas – particularly with the new season of The Mandalorian that just dropped today – he’s undoubtedly the man for the job.

One just has to glance at the absolute love letter of a season three opener that Favreau treated us to this morning; the Star Wars gaffer, together with episode director Rick Famuyiwa, held nothing back when it came to painting their love for this mythos. Indeed, whether it was one of the galaxy’s delightful critters, a quick cameo, or a high-octane sci-fi battle, it’s clear that the torch was passed responsibly.

At long last, MCU supporters ride to the defense of Phases Four and Five

Everything and everyone is redeemable somehow, right? The MCU‘s post-Endgame run might have so far failed to compete with the insane cultural impact of the Infinity Sagas last stretch, but when you really think about it, has it even been as bad as all the doomsayers claim? The optimistic side of the fandom is finally stepping up and saying a definitive “no.”

Quantumania‘s record-breaking dive at the box-office might have everyone forecasting the end of the biggest superhero franchise in the world, but it could also be clouding their judgement. A level-headed Marvel fan is giving detractors a reminder that ever since Endgame, the MCU has given us WandaVision, Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Ms. Marvel and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – all outings which only the bitterest of the bitter will claim are actually bad.

A floundering flop delayed by years only to release at the worst possible time seeks salvation on Netflix

Any movie that winds up seeing its release date delayed for an extended period time is inevitably tarred with the brush that it was held back for a reason. While that was true of Gully to an extent, it was off-camera issues that had nothing to do with the project itself that ensured it was destined to fail.

The coming of age drama was shot in early 2018, was shown to the world for the first time in April of 2019, but didn’t score a digital and on-demand release until June of 2021. In between, the mere presence of Amber Heard among the cast was enough to dissuade a lot of people from even giving Gully a chance, matters that were compounded by discouraging reviews.
