Bella Thorne May Be Teasing Female Ghost Rider Role In The MCU
Marvel Studios is actively looking at ways to bring Ghost Rider into the MCU, that much we know.
Johnny Blaze and the fabled Cosmic Ghost Rider have already been mentioned in regards to which version(s) we may soon see up on the big screen, but a recent rumor told us that Kevin Feige and co. may have their eyes trained on Bella Thorne, star of Paradise City and the Scream TV series, as well, as they’re looking at her to play a gender-swapped version of the antihero. A female Ghost Rider, if you will.
Of course, the fate of the character is still up in the air, especially after Hulu’s cancellation of the doomed live-action series, but according to the aforementioned rumor, Thorne’s Ghost Rider would come from a different universe entirely and perhaps be briefly introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Again, this is nothing but a rumor for now, but in an interesting turn of events, Thorne recently teased the role, taking to her Instagram account to share the original story that pointed to her involvement. Given that she didn’t comment on it, it’s hard to know what her intentions were, but it’s certainly interesting that she didn’t deny it, either.
And while it may be a while before we find out if there’s anything to this or not, if there was ever a window to name-drop a female Ghost Rider, it would definitely be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that’s set to be quite unlike any MCU entry we’ve seen so far.
Indeed, director Scott Derrickson and his team will be wading into a very big (and very confusing) sandbox, where the laws of time and space don’t really apply. Not to mention that now that Avengers: Endgame has cemented the Quantum Realm’s place in the MCU, Marvel’s definitely going to be expanding the scope and size of their prized franchise in some very intriguing new ways.
For now, we’ll be sure to keep a close eye on this Bella Throne tidbit as more comes to light, but in the meantime, tell us, would you like to see a female Ghost Rider in the MCU?

Catwoman Will Get Her Own Spinoff Movie After The Batman
The Batman is expected to be a big restart of the Bat-mythos in the DCEU, with Robert Pattinson replacing Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight. Not only that, but recent reports have pointed to director Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. planning on creating a whole trilogy around the star as well as developing multiple spinoffs for his sidekicks, like Batgirl and Nightwing. Now, we’ve learned of another one we can add to the list, as a standalone movie for Catwoman is also on the way.
We Got This Covered has been informed by our sources – the same ones who told us Jonah Hill would be in The Batman and that Robert Pattinson had beaten out Nicholas Hoult for the role of the Dark Knight – that WB wants to give Selina Kyle her own spinoff following The Batman. To clarify, this wouldn’t be another Joker-like production with a different star attached, such as the Mr. Freeze movie we’re hearing is in the works. Instead, sources are saying this will be a direct offshoot from the Pattinson franchise with the same actress from The Batman returning for their own movie.
As for who this actress will be, that’s yet to be officially confirmed. It’s believed that Reeves wants a “Zoe Kravitz-type” for Catwoman, though Kravitz herself is too busy to take the role. Recent reports point to the intention being to find a woman of color to play the character and we’ve heard that Tessa Thompson, Alexandra Shipp and Rihanna (who’s also up for Poison Ivy) are all on the wishlist.
Obviously, Catwoman has had her own solo movie before in the form of the colossal stinker that is the 2004 Pitof film starring Halle Berry. The shape of the superhero genre is much different from what it was in those days, though, with female-led comic book films on the rise, so WB must have faith that the character’s iconic nature will mean that, this time around, the venture will work out more successfully.
In any case, some Catwoman casting news should come our way in the near future and as soon as we learn who may be taking on the role in The Batman, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Thor: Love And Thunder May Introduce The MCU’s First Trans Hero
The future of the MCU is diversification and representation, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. And Thor: Love and Thunder looks to be an important part of this new mission statement. Not only will Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster become Thor herself and Valkyrie will be looking for a queen, but the signs are pointing to the movie featuring the MCU’s first trans hero, as well.
Back in July, The GWW shared news that Marvel was looking for a transgender actress for one of their upcoming pics, speculating that it was most likely for Love and Thunder. Well, We Got This Covered has now received some information that corroborates this and provides extra details about the role in question. You see, our sources – the same ones who told us the studio was doing a Ms. Marvel show – have confirmed to us that the pitch for the fourth Thor film included Sera, a rare transwoman superhero from the Marvel comics universe.
We’ve been warned that, as this was just the original pitch for the project, things could evolve beyond it and Sera could be removed from the storyline, or perhaps held back for another movie. However, she was definitely included in the pitch at the beginning of the film’s development, according to what we’re hearing, so that does bode well for her chances of being in Thor 4.
In Marvel mythology, Sera was one of the Anchrorites, a group of male, winged angels, though she identified as female. The Anchrorites were trapped in a temple in Heaven, until Angela – Thor’s estranged sister – rescued her. The pair went on to become lovers, though we wouldn’t expect Angela to appear alongside her in the MCU, as Hela’s already taken her place as Thor’s other sibling.
Thor: Love and Thunder is due to start shooting in Australia in August, before blasting into theaters on November 5th, 2021. And as for Sera, we’ll be sure to let you know if we hear more about her potential involvement in the film.

Instagram gets the iOS 13 dark mode treatment and it’s wonderful
Instagram has updated its iPhone app to take advantage of native dark mode support in iOS 13, and it makes scrolling through your feed and tapping through Stories much easier on the eyes if you’re not a fan of Instagram’s popping color palette and bright white borders.
Unfortunately, for as nice as it looks, Instagram doesn’t let you toggle the dark mode option on or off within the app itself, as Twitter’s pre-iOS 13 addition of the feature does. That means it has to match your iPhone’s system-wide settings, which is pretty standard right now as most iOS app makers are adding dark mode support for the first time.
That said, it’s always better to have more visual options, and I can’t complain too much about an Instagram experience that...

You need a MacBook with a butterfly keyboard to use macOS Catalina’s Sidecar
Apple released macOS Catalina today, and one of the update’s marquee features is Sidecar, which lets you use your iPad as a second display for your Mac laptop or desktop. The feature is designed to be a handy way to give yourself some extra screen real estate, especially if you regularly carry around both an iPad and an Apple laptop. The Verge’s Dieter Bohn called it his favorite new feature on Catalina in our review.
But there’s a catch if you’re excited to use Sidecar with your laptop: if you’ve been holding out on buying an Apple laptop without the troubled butterfly keyboard, you can’t use Sidecar. According to an Apple white paper, the only laptops that Sidecar works on are:
- MacBooks from 2016 or later (the second generation of...
