Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 Would’ve Included Mysterio And Black Cut
With Tom Holland in the oddly-smooth Spidey suit, this iteration of the iconic web-slinger is proving to be quite popular. In fact, Spider-Man: Far From Home is out this week, but the wall-crawler took quite some time to get to the point where he could take on Mysterio, the fish-bowl wearing special effects artist/evil mastermind. The original cinematic Spider-Man and his director, Sam Raimi, were almost ready to do just that in 2010 though, but then the movie was cancelled. What was this abandoned film to be about, though?
Well, according to a deep dive on the dead Sony franchise, done by the folks over at Screen Rant, Tobey McGuire’s web-head was to take on a combination of Mysterio, the Vulture (John Malkovich) and the Vultress (Anne Hathaway), who would change into Black Cat. Peter Parker and MJ would reconcile their relationship and mourn the loss of Harry Osborne. There’s also rumblings that The Lizard (Dylan Baker) would either maybe cameo in this, or be heavily alluded to as to be in Spider-Man 5 (or even 6).
My favorite part of the whole idea is that Bruce Campbell, who’d cameoed in the previous three films in minor comedic parts, would be revealed to be Mysterio. Sure, he would’ve been the cold open of the movie, with Spider-Man dispatching him thusly and tossing him out of the pic basically, but god damn that would’ve been so fucking cool. Anything with more Bruce Campbell in it would be cooler.
But alas, Sam Raimi didn’t have enough time to shoot the film. Sony pushed for a May 2011 release, and Raimi couldn’t make all the story threads come together successfully, so the project was shut down. The Evil Dead director would be game for a different Marvel movie these days, however, so let the auteur take a stab at, I dunno, Jubilee or some lame X-Person. Or cast Bruce Campbell as the next Nick Fury?
In the meantime, we can see how this new Mysterio fares in Spider-Man: Far From Home over the most patriotic of all weekends.

Daniel Radcliffe Becomes The MCU’s Wolverine In Stunning New Art
The problem with spending several films as one of the most iconic characters ever is that moviegoers may forever associate you with that one role. Take Hugh Jackman for example, who continues to tell us that he’s done playing Wolverine but still gets flooded with requests online for him to reprise the part one last time. Similarly, you have Daniel Radcliffe, whose career has been extremely successful lately but will probably always be the kid who played Harry Potter in the eyes of a lot of the world.
So, while Radcliffe isn’t exactly the most obvious choice to be the next Wolverine, casting him as the X-Men leader would at least kill two birds with one stone, offering a new version of the hero to replace Jackman in the mind of the public, and also providing Radcliffe with a gig that’s too big to be overshadowed by his years spent playing the Boy Wizard.
That being said, Marvel Studios probably has someone else in mind for the part, but if you’re looking for an idea of what could’ve been (and maybe still could be), take a glance at the stunning piece of art below, which admittedly makes a pretty good case for Daniel Radcliffe as the next Wolverine.
Of course, the notion of the actor playing the role has picked up momentum lately after Daniel took part in a Wired Autocomplete Interview. In response to the popular Google search question “Is Daniel Radcliffe the new Wolverine?,” he jokingly said that an upcoming movie will have Hugh Jackman being put into a hot wash and himself coming out the other end. Again, it was very clearly a joke, but the Internet latched onto the idea and have been behind it ever since.
As we said above, we can’t imagine Marvel actually casting Radcliffe as the next Wolverine, but whoever they end up roping in, you can bet that the individual will face an uphill battle trying to win over fans who can’t get imagine anyone but Jackman donning the claws.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron May’ve Planted The Seeds For Doctor Doom
It’s positively criminal that the greatest and most iconic Marvel villain of all time hasn’t gotten the big screen treatment he so clearly deserves. I’m talking, of course, about Doctor Doom.
We saw Julian McMahon’s take on the role in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Toby Kebbell’s villain in 2015 in the dreadful Fantastic Four, but all of those films were terrible and they all altered Doom in some crucial way. But things should change very soon. With Disney and Marvel Studios now controlling the rights to the Fantastic Four, expect Doom to rear his masked head in the MCU sooner rather than later. And here’s a neat way they could introduce him.
This theory comes courtesy of Adam Barnhardt at ComicBook.com, who points out that Avengers: Age of Ultron could very easily lay the groundwork for the appearance of the ‘classic’ Doctor Doom. He points out that the climactic events of the movie would have ruined the country and sent it into chaos, with Thanos’ snap a few years later only making things worse. Faced with a desperate Sokovian populace, who better to step in than Latverian dictator Von Doom? Sure, he might look a bit terrifying in his metal mask, but who could turn down stability at all costs?
Theoretically, Sokovia could be positioned in the vicinity of Latveria, and I’m sure audiences would buy a quick explanation that Latveria is generally considered a minor, isolationist country not worthy of attention until now. It’s a cool idea, and would retroactively make Age of Ultron a bit more connected to the ongoing MCU storylines.
We might find out pretty soon how MCU Doom would work, too, as Legion showrunner Noah Hawley’s Doctor Doom movie is still in development. Hawley recently explained that the project has just about survived the Disney/Fox merger, with him having recent meetings with Kevin Feige about adapting his script to fit into the MCU. If one thing’s for certain, it’s that the heroes of the franchise will think they had it easy with Thanos when Doctor Doom arrives on their doorstep.
