Kang Star Says He’s A Much Different Variant In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

Fans have been left scratching their heads trying to decipher the new logo for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was trending on social media for no other reason than how impenetrable it appears to the untrained eye.

Presumably, it has something to do with either the Quantum Realm or Kang the Conqueror, with Jonathan Majors set to make his second outing as the franchise’s latest big bad, albeit as a completely different variant. It’s an exciting and refreshing twist on the MCU’s end-of-level boss formula last filled by Thanos, giving a great actor the opportunity to recur throughout Phase Four without ever playing the same role twice.

Paul Bettany Was Told His Career Was Over Before Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Along with Samuel L. Jackson and Jon Favreau, Paul Bettany is the only actor to have starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s very first movie that’s still an active part of the franchise today, although he did play several roles, unlike his peers who’ve remained as Nick Fury and Happy Hogan since Iron Man.

Bettany’s first three appearances in the MCU had him restricted to the recording booth as Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence JARVIS, before Avengers: Age of Ultron saw him finally get physical as Vision. That eventually led to a further two outings in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, before he ended up starring in a TV show that landed him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Ryan Gosling’s The Wolfman Finds A New Director

It was only a couple of weeks ago that producer Jason Blum offered a vague status update on Ryan Gosling’s The Wolfman, which was set to be written and directed by The Invisible Man‘s Leigh Whannell, before the Saw co-creator was forced to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.

However, Deadline reports that a replacement has now been found, and it’s a very intriguing choice who has plenty of experience working with the leading man. Derek Cianfrance, who helmed Gosling’s Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines, has been confirmed to be taking the reins of The Wolfman.

Paul Rudd Almost Left Ant-Man When Edgar Wright Departed

It took a long time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Ant-Man to come together, with Edgar Wright originally developing the project for years alongside Joe Cornish, before walking away when he couldn’t come to a suitable creative compromise with the studio.

At the time, Peyton Reed was viewed as an underwhelming replacement for the bold, brash and massively stylish Wright, but he’s acquitted himself well on the first installment and sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, which will no doubt continue through to 2023’s Quantumania.

Army Of Thieves’ Rotten Tomatoes Score Almost Identical To Army Of The Dead

The latest chapter in Netflix’s rapidly-expanding cinematic universe arrives on Friday when Army of Thieves hits Netflix, a little over five months after Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead exploded out of the blocks to become one of the platform’s ten most-watched original movies ever.

As part of Snyder’s exclusive development deal with the streamer it was announced that a direct sequel is in development, while animated companion series Lost Vegas lands early next year, so it’s all systems go for the undead franchise. The opening chapter may have been a balls to the wall blockbuster, but Army of Thieves is a much smaller and more contained project.

Kevin Feige Reveals The Multiverse Was Always Part Of His Plan For The MCU

Kevin Feige has remained several steps ahead of both audiences and the competition ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first established, and we’ve got no idea how far into the future the company’s Chief Creative Officer has laid out his plans.

Building the Infinity Saga from the ground up across a decade and having it all tie together to culminate in the epic double-header of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame was one thing, but introducing the concept of the multiverse at the same time the franchise expands into episodic television on Disney Plus is something else altogether.

Hasbro Working On More Than 30 Film And Television Projects

You can’t fault the determination of Hasbro to try and turn as many of its properties as possible into lucrative film and television brands, even if everything not named Transformers hasn’t exactly found massive success.

Snake Eyes is poised to go down as one of the biggest bombs of the year as G.I. Joe went zero-for-three, but it’ll no doubt be reinvented and rebranded again. Peter Berg’s Battleship lost an estimated $80 million back in 2012, the Power Rangers reboot didn’t perform well enough to get one sequel never mind the five that were planned, and even Jem and the Holograms failed to recoup its paltry $5 million budget in theaters.

Batgirl Co-Director Welcomes Brendan Fraser To The DCEU

Brendan Fraser is obviously no stranger to DC Comics adaptations having starred as Robotman in Doom Patrol since the show’s inception, but the beloved actor is set to make the jump into the feature film world after signing on to play the villain in HBO Max’s Batgirl, where he’s expected to suit up as Firefly.

At long last, it looks as though the Fraser renaissance is well and truly underway, with a superhero blockbuster the perfect way to cement his resurgent credentials. The internet has always professed its undying love for The Mummy‘s Rick O’Connell, but he’s now amassing a string of acclaimed performances and high-profile projects to re-establish himself after a decade spent largely in the wilderness.

Eternals Director Denies Filmmakers Aren’t In Control Of MCU Action Scenes

It took a while for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to settle on an identity, and while some of the franchise’s established tropes are still prevalent to this day, the comic book saga has become a much more creatively collaborative environment since the days of Phase One where filmmakers were kept on a tighter leash.

However, rumors have continued to circulate that the directors tasked with helming the MCU’s mega budget superhero blockbusters don’t have total control over the action sequences, with Marvel instead sending in their own people to ensure that the spectacle is in keeping with what audiences have come to expect.

Kevin Feige Reveals Surreal Experience On Spider-Man: No Way Home And Doctor Strange 2

The movie business is filled with coincidences, but very rarely does one come along on the scale of two massive Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Four projects that entered development and production at roughly the same time, and will arrive in theaters just five months apart.

After Scott Derrickson dropped out of the director’s chair, Sam Raimi was drafted in to take the reins on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Jon Watts was already deep into pre-production on Spider-Man: No Way Home at the time, which featured the return of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, with the actor delivering one of the best villainous performances the superhero genre has ever seen in Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 almost two decades previously.
