An Unexpected Ryan Reynolds Movie Is Dominating Netflix Today
Ryan Reynolds has got to be one of the busiest guys in Hollywood at the moment, with no less than thirteen films in various stages of development and a rapidly expanding business empire that he attends to quite frequently. Free time isn’t something that he has a lot of then, but at least two of his projects are now complete and ready to hit theaters, and one of them’s the sequel to a successful animated movie that many people probably forgot even existed.
Though it may not be discussed a whole lot anymore, The Croods premiered in March 2013 and brought in almost $590 million at the box office, even nabbing an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. The prehistoric family flick scored positive reviews from critics as well, but despite its success, it never became a mega hit like some of Disney or Pixar’s efforts.
Still, a sequel is now on the way in the form of The Croods: A New Age, arriving in November after being the only notable release to be moved forward on the calendar when everything else is seemingly fleeing to next year, and in anticipation of its premiere, it seems a lot of fans are currently revisiting its predecessor. Or at least, that’s what the Netflix Top 10 most-watched movies list would have you believe.
Yes, squeaking in at number 10 is The Croods, meaning it’s currently the tenth most-watched film on the streaming site, and given that it’s competing with heavy hitters like Hubie Halloween and Enola Holmes, that’s certainly impressive. It’s not like it just hit the site today or even this week, either, so why it’s all of the sudden jumped in popularity is hard to say.
Aside from the fact, like we mentioned above, that perhaps people are catching up ahead of The Croods: A New Age. Whatever the case may be, though, it’s nice to see the Ryan Reynolds-starring flick getting some more attention and hopefully this renewed interest will serve its sequel well at the box office later this year.

New Star Wars Book Sets The Record Straight On Snoke’s Origins
When The Force Awakens came out in late 2015, one of the most intriguing points of speculation was Snoke’s identity. But as the last Star Wars movie in the Skywalker Saga revealed, the enigmatic leader of the First Order was just a pawn in Palpatine’s plan to retake the galaxy.
After Rian Johnson abruptly killed off Snoke in The Last Jedi to subvert expectations, he essentially put to rest all the theories about the character’s past. Some fans thought that he was Palpatine’s old mentor, Darth Plagueis the Wise. Others were of the opinion that he was Sidious himself, who had changed his face through some dark side ritual. Though after Episode VIII, it simply didn’t matter anymore. In fact, it’s safe to say that that was the director’s point all along. And since The Rise of Skywalker had to rush through two movies’ worth of narrative in two hours, J.J. Abrams tackled this issue as early as 5 minutes into the film.
When Kylo flies to Exegol to confront the phantom Emperor, the camera pans out to show a tube containing figures of the former Supreme Leader, revealing that he’s a clone created by Palpatine. He even confirms as much, saying to Kylo, “I made Snoke.” But the question remains: was Snoke a creation of the aforementioned big bad, or did he have a history of his own? Well, The Star Wars Book, a new reference book that comes out on October 20th, finally sets the record straight, revealing the following:
“It’s possible Snoke himself may not know his true nature. Snoke is a strandcast – an artificial genetic construct concocted by the resurrected Darth Sidious to be his proxy in power. Snoke has free will, but his actions and goals are still orchestrated by Sidious,” the book reads.
It’s hardly surprising to learn that Palpatine created a pawn to destroy the New Republic. After all, Sidious knew how to create life through Darth Plagueis. I mean, it’s all but confirmed in the canon of Star Wars that the sinister Emperor created Anakin as well, through the manipulation of the Force and Midi-chlorians.

The Sixth Sense Star Says He’d Love To Return For A Sequel
1999 was the year that M. Night Shyamalan burst onto the scene out of nowhere and instantly established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Hollywood after writing the screenplay for massively popular family movie and box office smash hit Stuart Little, as well as performing uncredited rewrites on the script for beloved teen rom-com She’s All That. Oh, and he also directed The Sixth Sense.
The supernatural chiller was one of the year’s defining movies, earning over $670 million at the box office and going on to scoop six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, not to mention it had a shocking twist ending that would go on to dominate popular culture for months and launch a thousand parodies.
Over the next two decades, Shyamalan’s career saw plenty of ups and downs as he succumbed to his own worst tendencies, with his next several movies gradually declining in quality as he became more and more self-indulgent. After years in the doldrums, he then returned in a huge way with Split, which was revealed to be a secret Unbreakable sequel all along. Following that, Glass gave fans the Shyamalan-verse crossover they’d always wanted, but the end result was muddled and underwhelming.
The filmmaker seems unlikely to repeat that trick again, but in a recent interview, Haley Joel Osment admitted that if the opportunity arose to play The Sixth Sense‘s Cole Sear once more, he’d grab it with both hands.
“I doubt that he would do a third crossover, but anytime Night calls, that’s his universe, so I’d definitely be up to dive in there with him again. It’s crazy, we had the 20th anniversary of the film last fall and we did a screening at Hollywood Forever and all that stuff, and it’s wild that it’s been that many years.”
Osment picked up an Academy Award nod for Best Supporting actor at the age of just ten for his phenomenal performance, but has never managed to recapture that success despite working solidly ever since. Shyamalan, meanwhile, didn’t pull off the Glass experiment as well as everyone was hoping, and all things considered, The Sixth Sense is probably much better left alone as a standalone movie anyway.

Amazon has canceled Crucible, its free-to-play multiplayer shooter that had already been returned to closed beta

Amazon has officially canceled Crucible, its free-to-play multiplayer shooter. It’s the end of a rocky journey for the game, which was first launched in May after years in development before being put back into closed beta in July.
“We very much appreciate the way that our fans have rallied around our efforts, and we’ve loved seeing your responses to the changes we’ve made over the last few months, but ultimately we didn’t see a healthy, sustainable future ahead [for] Crucible,” the Crucible team said in a blog post.
If you’re in the closed beta, you’ll still be able to play the game in some form for a short while. The developers will be hosting a “a final playtest and community celebration” in the next few weeks, according to the blog....
