Michelle Yeoh breaks Academy rules and angers Cate Blanchett stans all with one simple Instagram post
Don’t bother opening Instagram to look for the post that had Cate Blanchett fans turning against Michelle Yeoh at the flick of a switch, because you won’t find it. The Everything Everywhere All At Once actress has since deleted the controversial publication, not because of the angry Blanchett-heads in her comments, but because it broke Academy campaigning rules.
The post in question consisted of screenshots from a Vogue article calling for Yeoh’s win on Sunday, while criticizing the film industry’s historical racism in the Best Leading Actress category — namely the fact that in 94 years, only one non-white woman has won the Oscar. Yeoh captioned it with “This is not just for me, this is for every little girl that looks like me.”

A sci-fi cult favorite that’s had a sequel stuck in development hell for 25 years holds up just fine on its lonesome
You know a sci-fi movie designed to be a parody without mocking its subject has stuck precisely the right nerve when it gets voted as one of the best Star Trek films ever made by fans of the iconic franchise, a rare and entirely bespoke honor that Galaxy Quest fully deserves.
There’s a reason why the 1999 favorite has been held in such high esteem for the last quarter of a century, regardless of how it initially under-performed at the box office during its initial run. A story packed full of winks, nods, and references that stops short of poking fun directly at its audience, Dean Parisot’s delightful caper wears its geek badge as a symbol of honor and pride.
