Horror fans are locked in debate over the genre’s greatest year, and there’s no love for 2022

It’s no secret that 2022 was an astounding year for horror. In just 365 days, we were given unmissable horror hits such as Nope, Orphan: First Kill, Hellbender, The Innocents, Sissy, X, Barbarian, Scream (2022) and so many more. It looks like 2023 is gearing up to be an even bigger step for the niche genre as we anticipate Scream 6, Renfield, Evil Dead Rise, Beau Is Afraid, Insidious 5, The Exorcist remake, and Saw X, among others.

As we creep towards Halloween (it’s coming sooner than you think!), there’s no doubt that lines will be circling the block as moviegoers brace themselves for a truly terrifying time. But all of this buzz around 2022 and 2023 begs a very important question: Which year was the best for horror? Well, Reddit has the answers.

Chris Pratt’s Mario finally gets people excited after the actor swings by Super Nintendo World

Last night saw the grand opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood in California. This is the second Nintendo theme park to open, with the original Japanese location quickly becoming a mecca for Mario fans in particular. The opening ceremony was suitably grand, with legendary game designer and creator Shigeru Miyamoto on hand for a firework-fueled extravaganza.

Along for the ride was Chris Pratt, who’s voicing Mario in The Super Mario Bros Movie. Since that casting was unveiled, the star has faced a wave of negativity from fans saying he’s wrong for the part, but perhaps the tide may be turning. Pratt was on hand at the opening ceremony last night, and seems to have received a warm reception from those in attendance.

An ill-judged blockbuster bust that accidentally left behind a legacy finds shaky streaming ground

Whenever filmmakers find themselves reticent to use the 100 percent accurate term “remake,” it often gets substituted for “reimagining” instead. While it’s become part of common parlance in the age of dusting off any worthwhile property, it first gained widespread popularity – and a hint of notoriety – when Tim Burton was breathing new life into Planet of the Apes.

Although the 2001 blockbuster has since become a pariah of sorts when it comes to naming the most needless and misguided reboots of the modern era, it’s worth noting that a $366 million haul at the box office ensured it was far from a flop. Nonetheless, planned sequels on the back of the rug-pulling final twist fell by the wayside, ultimately paving the way for bigger and better things.
