<strong>নয়াদিল্লি:</strong> টাকার দামে নজিরবিহীন পতন। ডলারের তুলনায় টাকার দাম পৌঁছল সর্বনিম্ন স্তরে।এদিন ইন্টারব্যাঙ্ক বিদেশী মুদ্রা বিনিময় বাজারে টাকার দাম কমে হয়েছে প্রতি ডলারে ৭০.০৯ টাকা। গতকাল টাকার দাম ডলারের তুলনায় ১.০৮ টাকা বা ১.৫৭ শতাংশ কমে দাঁড়িয়েছিল ৬৯.৯১ টাকায়। তুরস্কের মুদ্রা বিপর্যয় আন্তর্জাতিক আর্থিক সংকটে পরিণত হতে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে। এর জেরেই টাকার দামে এই পতন বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে। এরইমধ্যে দেশের অর্থনীতিতে আশার আলো জুগিয়েছে খুচরো মুদ্রাস্ফীতির হার। ওই হার জুলাইয়ে গত ৯ মাসের মধ্যে সর্বনিম্ন- ৪.১৭ শতাংশ। শাকসব্জির দাম কমায় খুচরো মুদ্রাস্ফীতির হার কমেছে। এরফলে আগামী ঋণনীতি পর্যালোচনায় রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্কের সুদের হার আর না বাড়ানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারে। এর আগের দুটি পর্যালোচনায় রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্ক রেপো রেট মুদ্রাস্ফীতির আশঙ্কার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে ০.২৫ শতাংশ করে বাড়িয়েছিল। আগামী ৫ অক্টোবর পরবর্তী পাক্ষিক ঋণনীতি ঘোষণা করবে। টাকার দাম পতন নিয়ে গতকালই কংগ্রেস নরেন্দ্র মোদী নেতৃত্বাধীন সরকারকে একহাত নিয়ে কটাক্ষ করেছ যে, আমরা ৭০ বছরে যা পারিনি, শেষপর্যন্ত মোদীজী তা করেছেন।

জম্মু: স্বাধীনতা দিবসের আগে বিজেপি-র জম্মু ও কাশ্মীর শাখার পক্ষ থেকে সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে জাতীয় পতাকা বিলির অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হল। জম্মুর শিবাজি চক থেকে ‘হর ঘর তিরঙ্গা’ অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়েছে। স্থানীয় দোকানদারদের জাতীয় পতাকা দিয়ে এই অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা করেন বিজেপি রাজ্য সভাপতি রবিন্দর রায়না ও প্রাক্তন উপমুখ্যমন্ত্রী কবিন্দর গুপ্ত। পরে কবিন্দর বলেন, ‘জাতীয় পতাকা যাতে সব বাড়িতে পৌঁছে যায় এবং ১৫ অগাস্ট সব ছাদে জাতীয় পতাকা উড়তে দেখা যায়, তার জন্য সবারই এই উদ্যোগ নেওয়া উচিত। এটাই স্বাধীনতা দিবস উদযাপনের সেরা উপায়।’ কবিন্দর বলেন, ‘স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামীরা দেশ স্বাধীন করার জন্য যে আত্মত্যাগ করেছিলেন, সে বিষয়ে আমরা তরুণ প্রজন্মকে অবহিত করতে পারি এবং উৎসাহ দিতে পারি। ভবিষ্যতে স্কুলপড়ুয়াদেরও এই অনুষ্ঠানে যুক্ত করা উচিত। স্বাধীনতা দিবসে প্রতিটি বাড়ি, গ্রাম ও শহরে যাতে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়, সেটা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে আমাদের।’

নয়াদিল্লি ও ইসলামাবাদ: স্বাধীনতা দিবসের আগে সৌজন্য দেখিয়ে ২৭ জন মৎস্যজীবী সহ ৩০ জন ভারতীয় বন্দিকে মুক্তি দিল পাকিস্তান। পাল্টা সাতজন পাকিস্তানিকে মুক্তি দিল ভারত। শনিবার পাকিস্তানের নয়া প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবে শপথগ্রহণ করতে চলেছেন ইমরান খান। তার আগে দু’দেশই সৌজন্যের পরিচয় দিল। বিদেশমন্ত্রকের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, ‘সাতজন পাকিস্তানি বন্দিকে তাঁদের দেশে ফেরত পাঠানো হয়েছে। এর আগে ৭ অগাস্টও ১৪ জন পাকিস্তানি মৎস্যজীবীকে মুক্তি দিয়ে ফেরত পাঠানো হয়। মানবিকতার স্বার্থে পাকিস্তানের জেলে বন্দি ভারতীয় মৎস্যজীবী ও সাধারণ বন্দিদের দ্রুত মুক্তি এবং দেশে ফেরানোর উপর জোর দেওয়া হচ্ছে।’ ভারতীয় বন্দিদের মুক্তি দেওয়ার পর পাকিস্তানের বিদেশ দফতরের মুখপাত্র মহম্মদ ফয়সল এক বিবৃতিতে জানিয়েছেন, ‘পাকিস্তান মানবতার বিষয়টি নিয়ে রাজনীতি করতে চায় না। এই নীতীর সঙ্গে সঙ্গতি বজায় রেখেই ভারতীয় বন্দিদের মুক্তি দেওয়া হল। ১৪ অগাস্ট পাকিস্তানের স্বাধীনতা দিবসের আগে মানবিকতার পরিচয় দেখানো হল। আমাদের আশা, ভারতও একইরকম সৌজন্য দেখিয়ে পাকিস্তানি বন্দিদের মুক্তি দেবে।’ গত মাসেই পাকিস্তানের সুপ্রিম কোর্টে সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে পেশ করা এক রিপোর্টে জানানো হয়েছে, ৪১৮ জন মৎস্যজীবী সহ ৪৭০ জন ভারতীয় বন্দি আছেন। তাঁদের মধ্যে ৩০ জনকে মুক্তি দেওয়া হল। ২৭ জন মৎস্যজীবী করাচির জেলে বন্দি ছিলেন। সেখান থেকে তাঁদের লাহৌরে পাঠানো হয়। এরপর ওয়াগা সীমান্ত দিয়ে তাঁদের ভারতে ফেরত পাঠানোর ব্যবস্থা করা হচ্ছে।

লখনউ: এবারের স্বাধীনতা দিবসে সব মাদ্রাসায় জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন, জাতীয় সঙ্গীত গাওয়া এবং ‘ভারত মাতা কি জয়’ ধ্বনি দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিলেন উত্তরপ্রদেশের শিয়া ওয়াকফ বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান ওয়াসিম রিজভি। তিনি বলেছেন, ‘শিয়া ওয়াকফ বোর্ডের অধীনে থাকা সব মাদ্রাসাকে আমরা জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন ও জাতীয় সঙ্গীত গাওয়ার পর ভারত মাতা কি জয় বলার নির্দেশ দিয়েছি। যারা এই নির্দেশ মানবে না, তাদের বিরুদ্ধে কঠোর ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।’ বুধবার স্বাধীনতা দিবসের আগে রিজভির এই নির্দেশ তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। তিনি জানিয়েছেন, উত্তরপ্রদেশে ওয়াকফ সম্পত্তিতে দেড় হাজারেরও বেশি মাদ্রাসা ও স্কুল চলছে। সবগুলিকেই স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালনের নিয়ম মানতে হবে।

ভোপাল: মধ্যপ্রদেশ মাদ্রাসা বোর্ড তাদের অনুমোদনে চলা রাজ্যের ২৭০০ মাদ্রাসাকে আসন্ন স্বাধীনতা দিবসে 'ভালবাসার বার্তা’ দিতে শোভাযাত্রা বের করতে বলল। বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান সঈদ ইমাদ উদ্দীন বলেছেন, ৫১টি জেলার ৫০টিতে ‘পয়গাম ই মোহব্বত’ মিছিল করতে বলা হয়েছে মাদ্রাসাগুলিকে। বিভিন্ন ধর্মের পারস্পরিক বন্ধন জোরদার করতেই এমন উদ্যোগ বলে জানিয়েছেন তিনি। সঈদ ইমাদ উদ্দীন এই মর্মে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন যে, ১৫ আগস্ট যেন মাদ্রাসাগুলিতে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয় এবং বিভিন্ন সংগঠন আয়োজিত 'ভালবাসার বার্তা’ দেওয়া শোভাযাত্রাগুলি এক জায়গায় এসে মিলিত হয়। এমন শোভাযাত্রার ভাবনা না থাকলেও মাদ্রাসাগুলি যেন নিজ নিজ উদ্যোগে নিজেদের এলাকায় ‘পয়গাম ই মোহব্বত’ মিছিল করতে হবে। ভোপালে এ ধরনের শোভাযাত্রার নাম হবে ‘পয়গাম ই আমন’ (শান্তির বাণী) কেননা আরেকটি সংগঠন ইতিমধ্যে‘পয়গাম ই মোহব্বত’ নাম দিয়ে ফেলেছে তাদের শোভাযাত্রার। সঈদ ইমাদ উদ্দীন জানান, মাদ্রাসাগুলিকে স্বাধীনতা দিবসে সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করতে ও তার ভিডিও পাঠাতে বলা হয়েছে। সেই ভিডিও মধ্যপ্রদেশ মাদ্রাসা বোর্ড তাদের ওয়েবসাইটে তুলে দেবে। গত তিন বছর ধরেই বোর্ড অনুমোদিত মাদ্রাসাগুলি এমন অনুষ্ঠান করছে বলে জানান তিনি।

Ewan McGregor Says There Are No Plans For An Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie
Not for the first time, Ewan McGregor has reaffirmed his commitment to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, even if he isn’t quite sure if he’ll ever wield a lightsaber again as the famed Jedi Knight.
Speaking on The View recently, the actor was of course asked about the chances of his beloved Star Wars character getting a film of his own one day. As always, McGregor said that he would definitely be up for it, but at the moment, he doesn’t know of any concrete plans to give Obi-Wan a spinoff.
“I would totally do it, of course, but there’s no plans as such to do it, as far as I know. I’ve been asked this question for years and years. I’d be happy to do it. I’ve answered ‘yes’ so many times [by now] it looks like I’m touting for work!”
Though McGregor could just be playing coy here, not wanting to reveal anything he shouldn’t, it’s certainly fair to say that the chances of this particular project happening aren’t looking too good anymore. Ever since Solo: A Star Wars Story struggled to light up the box office in the way Lucasfilm would have hoped, the standalone Obi-Wan movie has reportedly stalled, and it seems McGregor isn’t privy to any more knowledge than you or I.
Then again, there’ve been many conflicting reports swirling around the pic over the last few months. For one, despite rumors that George Lucas visited Belfast in order to scout locations for the movie, it’s since been confirmed that the Star Wars creator was simply visiting the city’s Paint Hall Studio.
Our advice? Approach all this with a heightened sense of caution. Until Lucasfilm breaks the silence themselves, it’s impossible to know what’s going on with Obi-Wan Kenobi and his potential spinoff. At the very least, though, it’s nice to hear that McGregor still remains committed to the role and with any luck, he’ll get to play the fan favorite once more in a future project.

Exclusive Interview: Joe Dante Talks Nightmare Cinema And His Career Highlights
The name Joe Dante should definitely be familiar to all of us who grew up in the eighties and beyond. He not only became a sensation when he directed films like The Howling and Gremlins, but Dante became a name synonymous with a comedic bite that helped shape many facets of cinema, including horror and the blockbuster.
Growing up as a kid from New Jersey who fell in love with the big screen, he went on to work with the legendary low budget producing magnate Roger Corman. Along with other filmmakers who became successful, he began to make a name for himself with projects including Hollywood Boulevard and the now forty-year-old homage to Jaws with deadly flesh-eating fish, Pirahna. His list of work is varied and all have a voice of their own, including Explorers, The Twilight Zone: The Movie, Gremlins 2, Innerspace, The ‘Burbs, Matinee, Small Soldiers and his acclaimed Masters of Horror episodes.
Recently, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival during the premiere of his latest project Nightmare Cinema, an anthology film orchestrated by the man behind the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand and Sleepwalkers, Mick Garris. Joe’s also a Rondo nominated webmaster with the home of his commentaries Trailers From Hell, and his latest endeavor is as a podcast host with his series The Movies That Made Me.

So when did your passion for film begin? Was it something that started in your youth or something you transitioned into later in life?
Joe Dante: Well, we didn’t have a television growing up. The only time I would see movies was the Saturday Matinee. They had ten cartoons and two features and the first boy and girl in line got in for free. I got into the habit, and I stayed for the cartoons and usually left before the feature because it was all grownups and I wasn’t interested. Then I stayed for It Came From Outer Space in 3D and I realized that movies had a lot to offer on their own. After that, I became the only kid that went to the movies every Saturday and Sunday.
Wow. So would you say that It Came From Outer Space was the film that influenced you the most?
Joe Dante: No. That’s the movie that kept me coming back for features. In those days during the kiddie matinees, the movie was suitable, and if not it was an adult film. It was a western, or a Tarzan movie, the Bowery Boys or Abbott and Costello. It was just a lot of fun and was very raucous because it was just a bunch of screaming kids. It was a whole lot of fun.
And what was it about film that grabbed you? Was it the cinematography, the story, or anything in particular?
Joe Dante: Well, I don’t know if I was past the point where I even knew that actors weren’t making up words when they went along. I didn’t know anything about films, I just thought they were a lot of fun. The more outlandish the movie was the more fun it was for me.
When you began working for Roger Corman, how did that meeting come about, and what was that experience like from the inside?
Joe Dante: I was a big fan of Roger’s, and I saw the black and white sci-fi movies. So when my friend came out to California to get a job he asked me if I wanted to come out and make trailers for Corman. So the first time I met him was in a screening room to run my very poorly edited trailer. I had arrived late and didn’t drive, so I rolled one of my reels down the street. It was horrible.
I remember the first thing Roger said to me was, “Young man if I were you I would get to these things on time. And I thought, “That’s it, my career is over.” But Roger was very forgiving because he had to be and some of the people that worked for him didn’t know anything.
I began making all the trailers with my partner Allan Arkush because Roger got tired of hiring piecemeal people and telling them what kind of trailers to make. He thought if he hired young kids they could learn to do it on their own. We inherited the trailers for a whole bunch of movies in the seventies and it was during that period that I learned editing and moviemaking and asked him to do a movie of our own. He’d said we could if it was the cheapest movie he’d made, we had ten days to do it, and we had to make the trailers. The only way we could make a movie that was decent was to make something out of the movies we had trailers for. So we made Hollywood Boulevard, which was practically a documentary about how movies are made.

Nebula’s All Tied Up In New Avengers: Infinity War BTS Photo
Karen Gillan has shared a new behind the scenes look at filming on Avengers: Infinity War today. The shot (seen below), which the Guardians of the Galaxy actress posted on her Instagram account, features her in full costume as cyborg anti-hero Nebula against a blue screen with the Russo brothers on hand to give her pointers.
“Behind the scenes on Avengers Infinity War with the directors – the Russo Brothers,” Gillan captioned the image. Marvel fans should recognize which scene this is, too, as it’s the sequence where Thanos tortures Nebula in order to get Gamora to give up the location of the Soul Stone. The horrible scene sees Nebula pulled apart and in constant pain, and we imagine the actress was left with a pretty soar throat after screaming all day during this part of the shoot.
Of course, this was just another example of the Mad Titan favoring one of his daughters over the other. Infinity War revealed that Gamora was the one being in the universe that Thanos truly loved, while Nebula he considered to be “a waste of scraps.” That said, Gamora was killed at the hands of her own father while his second daughter managed to survive her demented dad’s apocalyptic finger snap.
This means that Gillan will likely play a key role in Avengers 4. With Gamora out of the way, Nebula will probably be the heroes’ one way into Thanos, as she’s the only one left who knows him personally. Fans have also theorized that her important development in the original Infinity Gauntlet comic book could be replicated in the movie.
Meanwhile, Karen Gillan has joined up with the rest of the Guardians cast in supporting fired director James Gunn, signing an open letter to Disney calling for the filmmaker to be rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It remains to be seen whether the cast’s actions will have any impact on the studio or not, but we’ll let you know either way.
As for Avengers: Infinity War, it arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray tomorrow, August 14th.

Tom Hardy Becomes Al Capone In Another New Fonzo Photo
While Venom isn’t scheduled to invade a multiplex near you for another few months, Tom Hardy is already hard at work on his next role in which most of his gorgeous mug is concealed: Fonzo.
Scheduled for release sometime in 2019, the pic will see Hardy inhabit the skin of notorious crime boss Al Capone. Currently in post-production, we got our first look at the Academy Award nominee in full Capone prosthetic earlier this month, and the image really had to be seen to be believed. Although, should you still be of the mind that your vision is deceiving you, don’t worry, we’ve got the cure.
Courtesy of Collider, a brand spanking new photo of Hardy as the Chicago Outfit mafioso has surfaced online, which you can check out below (along with some previously released pics) and no, your eyesight isn’t failing you, it really is Tom Hardy under that pale, wrinkled complexion.
Co-starring Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Matt Dillon (The House That Jack Built) and Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Fonzo will focus on a forty-seven-year-old Al Capone, following his decade-long incarceration as he struggles with the onset of dementia.

A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al “Fonzo” Capone (Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.
Directed and written by none other than the divisive filmmaker Josh Trank, Fonzo will look to repair the damage done to his career during the tumultuous production of Fantastic Four, the panned superhero feature which he departed, supposedly “to do something original and smaller-scale.”
Fonzo indeed could be a contender come award season but, if nothing else, it’s sure to feature another tour de force performance from Oscar nominee Tom Hardy who, given his performance in the 2015 crime thriller Legend, has this mafioso thing down pat by now.

Avengers: Infinity War Theory Says Thanos Destroyed Titan
While Avengers: Infinity War offers only fleeting glimpses of what Titan used to look like when there was still a fully-functioning society based there, it’s pretty apparent that the days of blues skies and greenery are well and truly over, with only a barren wasteland now to be found on Thanos’ home world. But what exactly happened?
Well, if the Avengers’ latest foe is to be believed, destruction came as a result of overpopulation on the planet, with the region’s inhabitants failing to heed the Mad Titan’s warning that genocide was necessary to ensure a sustainable ratio of people to resources. Then again, this same movie makes it abundantly clear that Thanos is kind of a bad fellow, and if a character evidently doesn’t see the immorality in eradicating half the universe’s population, then surely it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to suggest that he might not be above telling a few lies, either.
Sure enough, a new theory on Reddit accuses the purple tyrant of just that, while offering an alternative account of how Titan came to ruin. In short: Thanos did it. User Comiccow6 starts off by setting the scene and contemplating a couple of mysteries spawned by the planet’s desolate state.
“In Infinity War, Titan has been knocked off course, and [its] gravity changed significantly. Also, the world is mostly barren desert decorated by crumbling buildings. It’s never explained how either of these phenomena happened to a lucious world that apparently died from a lack of resources.”

The Redditor then draws inspiration from the comics to argue that it wasn’t just overpopulation that caused the fall of Titan.
“The answer is that Titan died a much different death. In the comics, Thanos was exiled from his home planet, and returned to destroy in in a nuclear bombardment. While the comics may not be the best resource when talking about MCU Thanos, I think they have this event in common.
Thanos was exiled from Titan for suggesting his 50/50 genocide. He later returned with an army in tow, and nuked Titan with enough force to decimate the world and knock it out of orbit. They didn’t accept his help, so why should he save them?”
While Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo himself has characterized Thanos as an unusually principled villain, Comiccow6 backs up their theory by picking out examples of hypocrisy in the despot’s behavior, concluding that his twisted sense of self-righteousness is a form of self-delusion for a dude who’s really just plain evil.
“We already know that Thanos ignores his rule of “balance” when it suits him. He slaughtered every dwarf but Eitri after the Infinity Gauntlet was forged. If he did that just out of practicality, imagine what he would do to a population that spurned his philosophy and exiled him for it. Thanos is an emotional guy, and he doesn’t take betrayal lightly.”
Finally, the Redditor says:
“When explaining his past to Dr. Strange, Thanos lies not just to get Strange to give him the Time Stone, but to justify his own atrocities. He does the same thing to Gamora, who has been established as the last of her species. Thanos’ method of peace does not work, and Thanos knows this. However, if he accepts that fact, he has to accept that he butchered his people and countless others not out of kindness, but out of enjoyment.”
While the circumstantial evidence of this post certainly leaves room for doubt, this could well make for an intriguing direction to take the character in that really brings out the madness of the Mad Titan while hitting home the insidious nature of his uncompromising vision. Indeed, though Avengers: Infinity War did an admirable job of making this genocidal conqueror seem strangely sympathetic, Comiccow6 has managed to make a compelling case for one path that next year’s Avengers 4 could take if the Russo Brothers wanted us to really hate this guy by the time the final fight kicks off.
