New Dolittle Poster Reunites Robert Downey Jr. And Tom Holland

Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland could reunite on screen for anything and it would still be a punchy attention grabber for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (spelled out in its entirety for contractual reasons), as well for the more niche fandoms specifically devoted to Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr., whose nicknames we can only guess at. Hollanders has a nice ring to it, though, right?

What exactly are this transatlantic power couple reuniting for, I hear many of you ask (stop shouting at me). Well, you may have heard there’s a new Dolittle movie on the horizon, with Mr Jr. following in the footsteps of Eddie Murphy as the iconic (in some circles) Doctor That Talks To Animals. And given that we know the identity of the Doctor, it wouldn’t be Dolittle without a cast of creatures that sound like actors you’ve heard before but can’t place where you heard them from.

I’m going to save you some of that pain by telling you Tom Holland is indeed one of those voices. And for all his self-castigation at the failure to grow even a scintilla of facial hair, I have to say he’s improved tremendously in this latest poster for the film:

Diehard fans of the partners in superhero crime(fighting) may feel slightly cheated after that. It’s not quite the in-the-flesh reunion you’d have dreamt of if you still had dreams about superheroes (some people never grow up. Or grow old, to frame it differently). But it is at least a reunion, and there’s only so much whole to go around your wholesome Hollywood content for the day.

Your favourite Marvel duo are back for Dolittle – and one of them is attempting a Welsh accent. What’s not to look forward to?

New Tremors Documentary On The Way To Celebrate 30 Year Anniversary

Did you know that the Tremors films have been going for almost thirty years now? It’s hard to imagine the franchise which pretty much launched Kevin Bacon’s career back in 1990 would still be entertaining moviegoers around the world. But it is, and we’re now getting word that to celebrate its third decade as a beloved cult monster series, actor Robert Jayne (Tremors 3 and Pearl Harbor) is working on an upcoming anniversary documentary. We’re not too sure what the doc will contain, but we’re pretty certain that fans will be excited to see it regardless.

“Working with NBC Universal on the “TREMORS” Film franchise anniversary documentary, so amazing how something can sustain through time,” said Jayne.

On top of the documentary, Jayne (who plays Melvin Plug in the series) has revealed that a big event’s being planned for January 2020 in which he says he’s looking forward to meeting up with his old Tremors pals. He wouldn’t spill much more than that, but here’s his tease:

BIG event planned for January to celebrate the original film, looking forward to seeing some old friends again.

Though details are still scarce, this documentary certainly has the potential to stack up alongside some other fan favorites, such as the Freddy Krueger one, Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy or the impressively long Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th, which goes on for six hours. Yes, really.

With the doc now in production, we imagine we’ll hear more about it soon but in the meantime, we can look forward to the next installment in the mainline series: Tremors: Island Fury. It’s currently shooting and if you haven’t done so already, be sure to check out Michael Gross’ new look for the upcoming sequel. It’s really quite something.

Spider-Man 3 Fan Poster Sees The Webhead Teaming Up With Daredevil

The end of Spider-Man: Far From Home left Peter Parker’s life in tatters. Not only did Mysterio frame Spider-Man for his attack on London, but he also publicly revealed his secret identity to the entire world. As such, come Spider-Man 3, Peter will surely need a great lawyer in his corner, specifically one who can understand what it’s like to be a superhero.

Well, wouldn’t you know it, there’s already the perfect candidate knocking around the MCU: the Man Without Fear himself, Daredevil. His Netflix series may have been prematurely cancelled, but fans are clinging to the hope that Charlie Cox will get to reprise his turn as Matt Murdock in the wider Marvel universe in the years to come. And, of all the projects on the docket, one that’s crying out for his presence is Spider-Man 3.

So, let’s imagine for a moment that this is going to happen. What would a Spidey/Daredevil crossover look like? Well, an awesome new fan poster gives us an idea. Instagram artist Erathrim has created a fake one-sheet for the threequel which cleverly pays homage to that shot from the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers of Spidey and Iron Man flying through New York, with DD in place of Tony Stark. Don’t the two vigilantes just look so right swinging through the streets side by side?

But could this ever happen Well, We Got This Covered has been informed by sources that Marvel is indeed considering bringing Murdock into the movies with SM3. As suggested above, Peter will likely get himself a superhero lawyer in the film, but apparently, the studio’s wondering whether She-Hulk might be a better fit for the role, seeing as she’s set to be introduced in her own Disney Plus series soon.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but tell us, do you want to see Daredevil show up in the still untitled Spider-Man 3, due to hit theaters on July 16th, 2021? Let us know in the usual place below.

J.J. Abrams Says The Last Jedi Didn’t Cause Any Problems For Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Because of the controversy surrounding it, there’s a myth around The Last Jedi that Rian Johnson’s bold Episode VIII must’ve royally screwed up Lucasfilm’s plans for Episode IX. J.J. Abrams has said multiple times, however, that he’s a big fan of the movie and it had no negative effects on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkerwhich will finally be with us in just over a month.

The filmmaker has now reiterated this point in an interview with Esquire. Abrams explained that, if anything, Johnson’s narrative decisions aided TROS. For instance, he used the example that TLJ separated the characters as a plus because it meant they could bring all of the Resistance heroes together for Rise instead. In fact, we actually just got a hint at how fun it should be to have the team united in the recently released first clip from the movie.

“There were some choices that made things a bit more fun for us, because, for example, Rian didn’t have the whole group collaborative adventure of it together, and that was really fun to get to tell the story of the group, the droids, out on one breakneck, crazy, desperate adventure. You know?. The choices that he made for me were as a fan, as a reader of the script, a fan of his, a fan of Star Wars… it was just fun to read someone’s take that was so about surprising the viewer and it was just really entertaining, because it was, it got to surprise me nearly every time. So, I loved it for that.”

Abrams then went on to add that Johnson’s tactic of coming at the mythos from a fresh angle meant that it resulted in his crew having a lot left on the table to tackle in Rise and there were hardly any clashes between what he wanted to do and what Johnson had already done.

“As a filmmaker, working on Episode IX, amazingly, nothing that he did in Last Jedi got in the way of things that we had talked about wanting to do down the line, ideas that I had about where things might go, so… it wasn’t like his story somehow derailed the things I wanted to pursue. In fact, strangely, they might have even helped strengthen them because we got to make some choices that sort of take advantage of the fact that Rian hadn’t done the things that we were thinking about doing.”

The director previously revealed that he found one twist from The Last Jedi particularly hilarious. When he first read about the death of Snoke in the script, he laughed out loud. Fans might not have expected this, seeing as Abrams established the Supreme Leader as a serious threat in The Force Awakensonly for Johnson to unceremoniously kill him off in the next film, but it seems Abrams embraced his successor’s fearless attitude. He’s also said before that Johnson’s work encouraged him to take risks with Episode IX, the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters at last on December 20th.
