‘Batman’ costume designer finally speaks out on the infamous nipples

The easiest way to make a longtime Batman fan shiver is to sneak up behind them, and whisper the word “nipples” in their ear. Admittedly, that’s probably the reaction you’d get if you did that to anybody, but for DC Comics enthusiasts in particular, they’ll be haunted by memories of the Joel Schumacher era.

Casting aside the dark, grimy, and Gothic aesthetic of the Tim Burton duology, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin opted for a neon-tinged aesthetic that effectively ran the franchise into the ground in record time, and came perilously close to rendering the comic book genre obsolete before the one-two punch of Blade and X-Men brought it back from the brink.

A haunting horror with a gut-punch ending devastates Netflix crowds

Stephen King adaptations come along with an increasing regularity that’s in real danger of reaching saturation point, but we’d be happy for Frank Darabont to keep cranking them in out in perpetuity, with the filmmaker having gone three-for-three through The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist.

The first two contain plenty of inner turmoil and shades of darkness, but at the end of the day they’re uplifting stories about the strength of the human spirit, as well as the bonds that form in the most pressurized and unlikely of circumstances. As for the latter? It’s a fast-paced and frantic creature feature for the majority of its running time, but ends with an unforgettable ending that was the cinematic equivalent of a punch right to the gut.

‘Deadpool 3’ writers assure fans that the Merc with a Mouth won’t be Disneyfied

We’ve been waiting for what feels like forever, but Deadpool 3 is finally starting to move through the gears of pre-production. Director Shawn Levy is in place, collaborating with star and producer Ryan Reynolds for a third time after the acclaimed Free Guy and The Adam Project, while writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have returned to go three-for-three on the franchise.

However, Levy did admit that shooting isn’t going to begin until 2023 at the earliest, and with Reynolds currently in the midst of a well-earned sabbatical from acting to focus on his family life and multitude of outside business ventures, we could realistically be talking about mid-2024 before Deadpool 3 hits the big screen.
