Catwoman And Bane Feature In First Batman: Hush Clips
When the Batman: Hush animated movie adaptation was finally announced at long last one year ago, I was among the many rejoicing. Seriously, it felt like the Powers That Be were really dragging their feet on allowing for the fan favorite story making the jump from the printed page, but we’ll be able to see it in full soon enough.
For the time being, we have two clips to whet our appetites.
The first of the two, which can viewed at the top of this article, shows the Dark Knight saving a kidnapped boy from Bane. If the musclebound brute sounds dumber than usual to you, you’re really onto something, because his new supply of Venom is really taking a toll on his otherwise impressive intellect.
Fans of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s comic book will find this to be familiar territory, only Bane is in Killer Croc’s place. My best guess is that the change was made because we already saw Croc being mutated in a way similar in the Son of Batman flick, and it wouldn’t make sense to retread that material here. Don’t forget, this film takes place within the same New 52-inspired continuity.
Next up is a scene that plays out pretty much verbatim to what was originally offered in the comic. As you can see, Batman chases Catwoman across rooftops following the aforementioned scuffle with Bane. I won’t spoil much for the newbies out there, but something pivotal is about to happen to the Caped Crusader seconds after when the footage cuts off.
Of course, not everything from a 12-issue arc will be retained for a movie that’ll likely run for 75-90 minutes, though the Batman-Catwoman romance thankfully remains intact. In my view, that was one of the major bullet points needed to be addressed in the adaptation, so I’m glad it’s front and center. Heck, there have even been statues made preserving the kiss shared by those icons in the comic for the ages.
If you’re attending San Diego Comic-Con this Friday night, be sure to make your way over to the world premiere screening of Batman: Hush. As for the rest of us, we won’t have to wait much longer, as the Blu-ray release has been pushed up to August 6th.

Nicki Minaj Says She’s Down To Play Catwoman In The Batman
With Robert Pattinson set to star as the titular vigilante, Warner Bros. will soon be seeking some talent to face off against him in The Batman. Arguably the character that’s getting the most interest online right now is Catwoman, who’s said to be one of the six or seven villains that’ll be making Bruce’s life a misery in Matt Reeves’ upcoming pic.
To date, a number of high profile actresses have been linked to the role of Selina Kyle, either through fan casts, rumors or their own social media pushes (see: Kristen Stewart, Vanessa Hudgens and Aubrey Plaza), but so far, WB has yet to announce anything. Still, that hasn’t stopped Nicki Minaj from becoming the latest person to express interest.
Yes, the rap superstar was recently interacting with a fan on Twitter when they said they’d love to see her as Catwoman, and in a response that could just be a joke, Minaj wrote: “I’m ready. Ha!”
Again, we presume that the artist is just having fun here, but who knows? It seems like everyone under the sun wants to be the next Selina Kyle and honestly, why wouldn’t they? It’s a huge role in one of the most anticipated upcoming movies of the next few years. And though Minaj obviously won’t end up anywhere near The Batman – at least, we hope she doesn’t – Warner Bros. will likely open up soon on who they’ve got their eye on.
After all, the fans are craving a definitive live-action version of Catwoman. Anne Hathaway’s iteration in The Dark Knight Rises was the closest character-wise, and Michelle Pfeiffer did a solid job in Batman Returns, but we still have’t got the perfect union of those two that’d mirror what’s been found in other forms of media. Fingers remain crossed then that The Batman delivers exactly that when it arrives in theaters on June 25th, 2021.

Quentin Tarantino Says His Tenth And Final Film Won’t Be Star Trek
Love him or hate him, it’s an undeniable fact that Quentin Tarantino has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. His films have racked up numerous awards and huge box office receipts and his next effort, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is slated to do gangbusters when it releases at the end of the month.
However, the prolific and loud-mouthed director has said for years and years that upon completion of his tenth film behind the camera, he would retire from Tinseltown and, I dunno, go buy up a Famous Footware franchise somewhere. But, as it’s widely known, the Pulp Fiction helmer has also been writing a hard-R Star Trek movie, a project that’s been gaining some legs lately.
This has fans concerned that this new entry in the space-faring saga will count as the tenth movie and, oh no, we’ll never get another Tarantino project again! Can you even imagine? During an interview with ReelBlend podcast crew though, he talked about a “loophole” that could make lots of people happy:
I guess I do have a loophole, [if] the idea was to throw a loophole into it. Which would be [to go], ‘Uhhh, I guess Star Trek doesn’t count. I can do Star Trek … but naturally I would end on an original.’ But the idea of doing 10 isn’t to come up with a loophole. I actually think, if I was going to do Star Trek, I should commit to it. It’s my last movie. There should be nothing left handed about it. I don’t know if I’m going to do that, but that might happen.
To be honest, I didn’t know Tarantino was being considered to direct this next Trek. I thought he was only writing it, so, oops. But it really would make sense that the man, so known for his unique voice, would want to go out on his own terms. Every film he’s directed, save for Jackie Brown, was a wholly original screenplay. He likes his writing. His last product should be a Tarantino project, through and through.
That being said, a ridiculous Star Trek movie directed by an Inglorious Basterds-style Tarantino would be a fun way to punch-up a dying franchise, to say the least. Especially with Chris Pine walking away (and Zachary Quinto seemingly not involved as of writing), giving it to the guy who turned Kurt Russel into a sinister car wreck masturbator would probably help jump over some creative hurdles. Plus, we can finally learn Klingon slurs! About flargkin’ time!
