Fewer propellors mean more battery-life for the Falcon bicopter drone

When are two propellors better than four? When they give your drone extra battery life, greater portability, and reduce noise, claims Zero Zero Robotics. That’s the pitch for the company’s V-Coptr Falcon: a bicopter drone with an impressive flight time of 50 minutes — 20 minutes more than the comparable DJI Mavic 2.

For years, four propellors have been standard for consumer drones, offering greater power and stability. But Zero Zero says its tilt-rotor design, which lets each propellor swivel independently, allows the Falcon to match four-prop rivals. Tilting the propellors improves the drone’s aerodynamic profile, says the company, reducing drag.

Add to this the reduced battery drain from running fewer propellors and the drone’s...

Doom’s classic re-releases now run at 60fps and support free add-ons

Image: Bethesda

Bethesda’s has given its re-releases of Doom 1 and 2 from last year a pretty hefty update that improves performance, adds new features, and gives access to a huge amount of content in the form of free community-made add-ons. At the top of the list of performance improvements is an increase in framerate, from 35fps originally to 60fps now, but the company has also added new features like support for quick saves, different aspect ratios, and a new quick-weapon-select feature.

These performance improvements are welcome, but if you’ve already had your fill of the original Doom levels then you’ll probably be far more interested in the new add-ons that are being offered as free downloads from the main menu. Sigil, an unofficial Doom sequel...

Boeing employees discussed the problems with the 737 Max in chats and emails that the company characterized as “completely unacceptable” in a statement released today. “Would you put your family on a Max simulator trained aircraft? I wouldn’t,” one employee said to another in one chat in February 2018, according to documents obtained by The Verge and originally reported by The New York Times. “No,” the other person replied.

“I still haven’t been forgiven by God for the covering up I did last year,” a Boeing employee said in a different 2018 conversation, according to the documents. The employee appears to be referring to interactions with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Marvel Fans Freaking Out Over Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Losing Its Director

Marvel is hard at work on the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that much we know for sure. The 2016 Benedict Cumberbatch superhero flick was one of the MCU’s most visually stunning films and offered up a pretty wild ride, so hype for the sequel has always been quite high. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took things one step further back at Comic-Con when he told us the pic would feature Scarlet Witch as well.

Throw in the fact that DS2 is set to be the MCU’s first horror film, which will be a welcome change of pace for the franchise, and things are looking pretty rosy for the project. Or at least, they were.

Yes, as you’ve probably heard by now, director Scott Derrickson announced earlier tonight that he’d departed the movie, surprising just about everyone with the news. And as expected, fans have taken to Twitter to react, with the below Tweets representing just a small sample of what folks are saying.

Of course, speculation is already running rampant in regards to what’s going on with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The official word on the split is that it was due to creative differences, but there’ve been whispers that it may’ve been more than that and that Derrickson may’ve actually been kindly pushed out the door.

But as of yet, nothing’s been confirmed and with the studio seemingly keen to move past this quickly and find a replacement, it’s unlikely we’ll get the full story. At the very least, though, fans can rest assured knowing that the sequel is still on course to meet its release date and as soon as we hear of a replacement director, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Director Breaks The Silence On Leaving The Film

Though Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still quite a while away from hitting theaters, some early details are already beginning to surface on the web regarding the Sorcerer Supreme’s second solo outing, painting a very exciting picture of what’s to come. But earlier tonight, the blockbuster suffered a huge setback.

Yes, as you’ve surely heard by now, director Scott Derrickson exited the project, shocking us all. After having helmed the first movie to great success and seeming very eager to get back behind the camera for the sequel, it was certainly surprising to see him depart. And while the full story behind him leaving will probably come out over the next few days, the official reason is apparently “creative differences.”

Or so says Derrickson himself, as the director took to Twitter a few hours ago to break the silence, saying the following:

So, a pretty standard statement, then, and nothing too groundbreaking. Still, it’s nice to hear from Derrickson amidst all this chaos, even if it seems that there’s more to the story that he’s not saying. And again, we imagine that’ll all come out over the next few days.

For now, though, we wouldn’t begin to worry just yet. After all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness won’t hit cinemas until May 7th, 2021, so there’s certainly enough time to find a replacement. And Marvel is already hard at work on doing just that, apparently. It’s unclear as of yet who they may be eyeing, but the fans are already beginning to voice their own picks online and as soon as we get an update from the studio, we’ll be sure to let you know. Stay tuned.

Microsoft’s Windows Terminal is getting retro-style CRT effects, search, and more

Microsoft released its new Windows Terminal command line app last year, and the company has been steadily improving it in Windows 10 ever since. The software maker is now preparing a new update due next week that will introduce retro-style CRT effects. If you’re old enough to be a fan of CRT monitors then this one is for you. A new experimental feature will be enabled that includes the classic scan lines that you might have seen before the world switched to flat monitors and LCD technology.

Alongside the nostalgia trip, Microsoft is also adding some new functionality to Windows Terminal. You’ll be able to search through terminal tabs to find input or output from various commands, and tab resizing is being added so you can fit more tabs...

The Irishman Is Now Being Called Out As Fake

The Irishman might be considered one of the best movies of 2019, but not every one of the over 26 million people who watched it are happy with what they saw. One of those very disgruntled viewers is Jack Goldsmith, who’s the real-life stepson of Chuckie O’Brien (played by Jesse Plemons in the film).

In the flick, O’Brien is depicted as Jimmy Hoffa’s loyal yet distant foster son who unwittingly becomes an accomplice in the notorious gangster’s murder. According to Goldsmith, however, their relationship was actually much more similar to the one that Hoffa and Frank Sheeran are shown as having.

In his own words:

“What Mr. Scorsese did, in effect, was to place Mr. Sheeran in Chuckie’s role in Mr. Hoffa’s life. It was Chuckie, not Mr. Sheeran, who for decades served as Mr. Hoffa’s “intimate companion, driver, bodyguard and special troubleshooter,” as the labor journalist Victor Riesel noted in the 1960s. Chuckie expected to be ‘tagged with the disappearance’ in the movie, he told me. He did not expect Mr. Scorsese to appropriate his close relationship with Hoffa – the precious blood, sweat, tears and joy of a three-decade father-son relationship, the apex of Chuckie’s life – and give it to Mr. Sheeran for all the world to see and believe.”

The Irishman

This is just the latest controversy surrounding the extremely well-reviewed flick. Plenty of people associated with the actual events shown onscreen have called out the fictionalization of what really happened and as if that wasn’t bad enough, director Martin Scorsese ruffled a few more feathers by telling folks not to watch the feature on their phones and then made headlines again by saying that this may be the last film he ever makes.

It’s starting to seem like the drama in the movie is somehow even less exciting than all of the drama surrounding it. Then again, it’s also receiving a lot of love as well and much of this stuff typically comes with making films based on true stories.

Tell us, though, are you as upset as Jack Goldsmith that Scorsese’s pic supposedly lied about what actually happened, or do you really not care and think viewers should just enjoy The Irishman as it is? Sound off in the comments section and let us know.
