Behold The Mandalorian’s Razor Crest in all its $350 toy spaceship glory
It might not be the coveted rocket-firing Boba Fett action figure, nor offer quite so many play possibilities as the $800 LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon.
But if you’re a fan of The Mandalorian, whose second season starts Friday, Hasbro’s $350 Razor Crest might just be the greatest Star Wars toy in a very long while. At 30 inches long, 20 inches wide and 10.5 inches tall, it’s a big enough to re-enact a whole bunch of the Disney+ show’s iconic scenes inside its cockpit and cargo hold — using standard 3.75-inch figures — and the entire ship is chock-full of details.
You’ll find a packed weapons locker, a carbonite freezing chamber and Baby Yoda’s hiding place inside, plus seventeen different panels you can remove to...

Blumhouse Announces BlumFest Event, Begins October 29th
Blumhouse continues to go from strength to strength, at least based on their marketing savvy in dominating the commercial horror landscape over the last decade or so. To celebrate Halloween, and preview upcoming releases, Jason Blum and co. are running a BlumFest virtual event this Thursday the 29th of October, which will include panels discussing all sorts of different topics.
Running on the Blumhouse YouTube and Facebook pages from 10am PT, there’ll be a range of different speaking slots, including on the recently released Amazon movie collaboration Welcome to the Blumhouse, and on The Craft: Legacy. The latter reboot is arriving on PVOD this Wednesday, and promises to bring the 1990s cult classic into the present day in its focus on teen witches.
Other discussions will include members of the cast and crew of body-swap flick Freaky, the long awaited (and sadly delayed) Halloween Kills, and a conversation between Jason Blum and Ethan Hawke on their series The Good Lord Bird. Furthermore, it’s looking likely that the streams will include some teaser footage for future releases, at least based on Jason Blum’s comments, which you can see below:
“This year has sidelined a lot for all of us, but Halloween is a treasured season at Blumhouse, so we conceived BlumFest to celebrate with our fans via a virtual event that will feature exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage on an upcoming release or two.”
BlumFest does look like it’s going to be an enjoyable online party, then, and even those who don’t normally buy into the brand may be intrigued by the Halloween Kills discussion and the chance to learn more about The Craft: Legacy after its premiere this week. Indeed, the diversity of the offerings for the showcase demonstrate how much the company has extended its reach into different areas of the horror genre.
While 2020 hasn’t been a great year for the entertainment industry as a whole, Blumhouse were able to see The Invisible Man launch in theaters before the COVID-19 lockdown hit, and seem to be well-placed to put more of their titles out on streaming this fall. To that end, BlumFest is pretty much just an extended commercial, but does, at least, provide a way to catch up on projects that have been sidelined due to the pandemic.

PSA: Your new iPhone 12 or 12 Pro might need contact tracing re-enabled
Getting a new phone is exciting, but it can also lead to spending an annoying amount of time adjusting settings, permissions and notifications for all your apps. Cloud backups are supposed to make this process easier, but they don’t always catch everything – for instance, you’ll want to double-check that COVID-19 exposure notifications are still enabled on your new iPhone 12 if you restored from a backup. They might not be, according to BBC News.
If you’re concerned you might be affected, you can re-enable exposure notifications in iOS by opening the Settings app, selecting Exposure Notifications, and clicking “Turn On Exposure Notifications.”

Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold adds some of the Z Fold 2’s smartest features for free
One of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2’s coolest new features was the ability to use the phone’s front display as a viewfinder for the back cameras, which could be really useful for things lining up higher-quality selfies. If you’ve wanted that handy way to take better selfies but have been holding on to the original Galaxy Fold, you’re in luck: Samsung is bringing that selfie functionality and a number of other features from the Z Fold 2 to the first Fold through a software update that’s available starting today.
The Fold isn’t just getting a new way to take selfies. The update also brings Capture View Mode,...

A Beloved Seth Rogen Movie Is Dominating Netflix Today
The top movies on the Netflix global chart are pretty diverse this week, from recent originals like Ben Wheatley’s Rebecca to horror pictures such as The Purge: Anarchy and Cadaver. Sneaking onto the list, however, is the Seth Rogen-starring Neighbors, with the 2014 comedy currently sitting at sixth place in the worldwide rankings. Why, then, might the pic be getting so much love right now?
One possible answer is that Neighbors is a light, dependably funny movie and as we all know, it’s been a fairly bleak last few months. The Nicholas Stoller-directed production sees Rogen pair up with Rose Byrne as a husband-and-wife duo with a young child who have to deal with a fraternity moving in next door. Led by Zac Efron’s Teddy, the college kids soon end up in a war with Rogen and Byrne’s Mac and Kelly Radner, setting up some ingenious sequences.
I caught up with Neighbors, or Bad Neighbors as it’s sometimes called, a couple of years ago. Compared to a lot of other comedies of a similar tone from the last decade, it’s arguably a cut above, helped by strong central performances and a commitment to stretching the possibilities of its premise. Critics and audiences were positive about the film, too, which also went a long way towards confirming that Efron is a talented comedic lead.
A sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, arrived in 2016, and provided a solid female-focused spin on the original plot, making it worth checking out if you enjoyed its predecessor. Things have been a bit quiet in terms of a follow-up, although Rogen did produce a tongue-in-cheek short for his social media followers at the time of Sorority Rising‘s release.
If you’re looking for a low effort movie to take your mind off current events, then, Neighbors is a strong option, and stands up to repeat viewings, something that can also be said for the other Seth Rogen-starring titles currently available on Netflix.

Justice League Snyder Cut Fan Art Teases Joker’s Return
The latest unlikely development in the saga of Zack Snyder’s Justice League is that, against all the odds, Jared Leto is returning as the Joker. Though his performance in 2016’s Suicide Squad was widely panned at the time, the actor’s turn as the Clown Prince of Crime has been as reevaluated in the past four years as Snyder’s directorial efforts have and now he’s taking part in the reshoots for the HBO re-release of the team-up movie that are currently underway.
There’s a lot of hype around the Joker’s appearance in the film, then, and BossLogic has got us even more excited today with this epic piece of fan art which teases Leto’s return to the iconic role. The moody piece with a dark green palette features the villain turning towards the camera. With a bloody knife in his hand, he’s drawn a wide red smile, reminiscent of Heath Leader’s scars, across his cheek.
BL’s artwork is excellent and gives you the feeling of Leto’s character being let loose to cause more havoc. The ins and outs of the villain’s role in the storyline have yet to be revealed, but it seems fans who want to see the Joker unleash some carnage won’t be disappointed. According to what we’re hearing – potential spoilers incoming – Mr. J will appear in the present day in Arkham but also in a flashback scene depicting his murder of Robin, something which was hinted at in Batman V Superman.
Most of the League are back in their super suits to film additional material for the director’s cut as well and when it comes to villains, Joe Manganiello is also involved in the reshoots, reprising his turn as Deathstroke, while Jesse Eisenberg is looking very likely to be back as Lex Luthor, too. We didn’t expect to see either of those guys again in the DCEU, much like Leto’s Joker, so it really seems like anything is possible when it comes to this production. Could they even get Ryan Reynolds on board as Green Lantern? Maybe.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is scheduled to release in 2021 on HBO Max.

One Of The Most Controversial Movies Of All-Time Hits Netflix This Week
It’s true that Netflix is losing some great movies soon, and it goes without saying that no one is particularly happy when that happens. But for everything the service gets rid of at the beginning of the month, it typically makes up for in amazing new content to watch. And as usual, the first drop of November brings along with it a heap of fresh stuff you’ll want to check out, such as comedies like Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Yes Man, popular heist flick Ocean’s Eleven, emotional coming-of-age drama Boyz in the Hood and lots more.
In case it wasn’t apparent, you’ll have plenty to dig into next month, and there’s even more to come after that. But one flick you may not want to miss later this week when it arrives on November 1st is a 1971 classic that was extraordinarily controversial for its time and is considered one of the 20th century’s most thought-provoking films.
A Clockwork Orange – based on the 1962 Anthony Burgess novel of the same name – follows ultraviolent Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and his gang of thugs as they rape, steal and sow general chaos in England and are then captured and forced to undergo rehabilitation via extreme psychological conditioning. It’s certainly a discomforting movie full of disturbing images and dystopian themes, but it’s also an intriguing study of society, delinquency and psychology.
The pic, which was directed by Stanley Kubrick, scored 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, and most critics have praised it for how it handles its characters, music, haunting imagery and dark humor. Its subject matter ensures that it’s not an easy viewing, even by today’s standards, but if you’re able to endure its more upsetting moments, you’ll be treated to an unconventional ride. There are certainly much worse ways to spend an evening with Netflix, that’s for sure.

Bette Midler Says That All The Sanderson Sisters Are Back For Hocus Pocus 2
Every Halloween, countless millennials rewatch 1993’s Hocus Pocus, which has a mythic status for anyone who grew up with it in the 90s, and Disney is finally about to capitalize on the cult movie’s popularity. For the past year, a sequel has been in active development over at Disney Plus and we’ve heard various encouraging comments about whether the original Sanderson sisters would be involved. And by this stage, it seems that they’re all set to return for Hocus Pocus 2.
Bette Midler chatted about the plans for the sequel on FOX 5’s Good Day New York and confirmed that she and on-screen sorceress sisters Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker have been asked to come back and they’ve all agreed.
“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” said Midler. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”
At the beginning of the month, Midler revealed that the trio were happy to return and were just talking “logistics.” It’s possible, though unclear from the actress’ brief words, that negotiations have been finalized and the stars are now locked in. If that’s the case, then hopefully Disney can at long last move forward with the sequel. If they’re quick about it, maybe it could even be with us in time for next October.
For those who can’t wait to see the characters back in action in Hocus Pocus 2, Midler, Najimy and Parker are reprising their roles for a one-night virtual event titled In Search of the Sanderson Sisters, a celebration of the 1993 film also featuring others cast members from the movie like Thora Birch and Doug Jones as well as various celeb guest stars – all in aid of raising money for the New York Restoration Project. You can purchase tickets for the live show on Halloween night, which go on sale in four days’ time, here.

Marvel Reveals The Real Reason Tony Stark Created The Iron Legion
As Marvel fans will know, Tony Stark became obsessed with existential threats to humanity after the first Avengers film, an obsession that ultimately led to the creation of Ultron. But even before the sentient AI came to be, the billionaire playboy-turned-superhero was hard at work creating the Iron Legion.
Suffering from PTSD after the Battle of New York, Iron Man 3 depicted a damaged Stark who was looking for a way to protect the people closest to him, including Pepper Potts. This manifested itself in his main passion, creating and upgrading the Iron Man suit. But according to the new MCU tie-in book, The Wakanda Files, the character had a different motivation altogether.
Apparently, after seeing the destruction caused by the Chitauri army, the prodigal son of Howard Stark came up with an idea to minimize civilian casualties in case of another big metropolitan battle. That’s why he designed all the other units. And as we saw in the film, he had JARVIS control them remotely.
Additionally, Stark realized that the Avengers would be vastly outnumbered in such events. So, the Iron Legion would serve as a physical extension that would help them fight off an extraterrestrial army. It makes sense, too, since even Infinity War and Endgame showed Earth’s Mightiest Heroes relying on Wakanda’s manpower to handle Thanos’ troops.
Apart from this safeguard, though, Iron Man also intended this project to serve as a means to “effectively communicate with the general public so there isn’t any misinformation.”
If anything, the new Marvel book shows Tony’s relentless dedication to the cause. Even after his death, he left the space drone force to Peter Parker as a contingency. But beyond that, it’s also interesting to learn that the Iron Legion wasn’t simply an offensive countermeasure, but rather a means to help preserve more lives.
