Netflix Reportedly Planning The Legend Of Zelda Animated Movie

There have long been rumors that Nintendo and Netflix are collaborating on a The Legend of Zelda project. The exact form it’ll take has been a bit unclear, but a movie and a TV show have reportedly both been discussed. Now, we’re hearing that those options may have been narrowed down, with Netflix opting for an animated movie adapting the beloved video game franchise.

Adapting Zelda for a movie is a tricky proposition. On one hand, the jaw-dropping scenery, epic battles against gigantic monsters, and fantasy action aesthetic should translate easily to a film. On the other, the series prioritizes gameplay over story, to the point where—35 years on from the NES original—series hero Link is still a mute protagonist.

That’s inevitably going to change if Netflix moves forward, and we’ve heard the streaming giant is eyeing Tom Holland to play Link. He’d be a great fit for the part. As long as the team doesn’t do what it did last time Link was voiced, the idea should be fine.

Zelda-TV-SHOW

What will be particularly interesting for Nintendo fans is what era of Zelda this will be set in and whether this movie fits into the canon. The Zelda timeline spans thousands of years and features several split timelines; it currently begins with Skyward Sword and ends with the post-apocalyptic Nintendo Switch hit, Breath of the Wild.

The most fan-pleasing move would be to adapt the classic 1998 N64 game Ocarina of Time, but I’d like to see them go somewhere new and use the movie to tell a story that wouldn’t work as a video game.

Another fly in the ointment is that Netflix is apparently set to make its own move into the video game market. This means the company might end up as business a rival to Nintendo, which could make a Zelda property on Netflix a dicey prospect for the famously cautious gaming giant. But, for now, we can just speculate.

Let’s hope we get an official The Legend of Zelda Netflix confirmation soon.

India vs England: Virat's Team will Play How it Plays, We Will Not Get Drawn into Anything that's Not Honest - Joe Root

India channelled their aggression to their advantage to script a famous win at Lord's while England failed to rile up the opposition players despite regular attempts and that is something Joe Root is looking to avoid in the third Test beginning here on Wednesday.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Leak Sees Shuri Meeting With Ironheart At MIT

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now before the cameras and though the majority of the shoot will take place in Atlanta, the crew is currently on location on the MIT campus in Cambridge. This has given us a telling peek toward how Marvel is going to deal with the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman.

The Cosmic Circus first reported that Dana Gurira’s Okoye, Letitia Wright’s Shuri, and Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams have been spotted filming scenes together. The context of their meeting is unknown, but given that both Shuri and Riri are tech geniuses, they should have a lot to talk about. Meanwhile, Okoye is likely there as a Wakandan bodyguard, which may hint that Shuri has taken the the throne.

Another telling sign is that Wright was wearing a long black robe over her costume. These are generally worn when the studio wants to keep an actor’s costume under wraps on a location shoot, so this could potentially conceal her own modified Black Panther suit.

Whatever the case, it’s now clear why Kevin Feige felt the need to confirm that Thorne had been cast as Riri Williams. After all, if Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is filming a scene at MIT with an unidentified female African-American student, you wouldn’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that this is Ironheart.

In addition, other leaks from the set are beginning to paint a picture of how they’ll deal with Boseman’s absence. A shot of the Wakandan throne room contained some text which a fan translated as “T’Challa, our hero, twas an honor, Wakanda forever.” So, looks like it’s going to be a tear-jerker.

I’m also hyped to see more of Riri Williams going forward. She has her own six-episode Disney Plus series in the pipeline, which looks set to lead into an Armor Wars show starring Don Cheadle. All that’s hazy for now, but let’s hope we get more interesting set leaks that reveal more of what’s coming.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on July 8, 2022.

India vs England: 'Happy that People are Talking About me, Not Concerned About the Talks Surrounding Form'

Team India is scheduled to play the third Test against England at Leeds from August 25. Even though the team is in good form, there are still a few question marks over the Indian batting. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been on the radar of the critics, as the duo have failed to score runs consistently.

[SPOILERS] Reportedly Set For A Big Role In Captain America 4

The project may have been announced the very same day the final episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired on Disney Plus, but it wasn’t until just a few days ago that Anthony Mackie finally put pen to paper and committed himself to headlining the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America 4 as Sam Wilson.

Of course, it wasn’t as though the actor was going to turn down the offer, and he’s got a point to prove after he claimed a solo blockbuster starring himself and Sebastian Stan would be able to earn more money at the box office than any of his rival Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies, so Mackie already has a billion-dollar target on his back.

Depending on what unfolds between now and whenever Captain America 4 ultimately arrives, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may have already set some plot threads in motion, and we’re now hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us the film was in development long before it was confirmed – that a fan favorite supporting player is poised to return and make a much larger contribution to the MCU.

Danny Ramirez’s enthusiastic Joaquin Torres found his way into the hearts of viewers across the world, and once Sam suits up as Cap he effectively hands his wings over to the young soldier in a nod towards the future. Those familiar with the comic books will be fully aware that Torres ends up becoming the next Falcon and regularly flies into battle alongside his star spangled cohort. His bizarre genetic experimentation origin story will no doubt be changed, but the narrative seeds have already been sown to potentially be paid off in Captain America 4.

Vin Diesel Reportedly Looking For Another Franchise After Fast & Furious Ends

Even the quickest glance at Vin Diesel‘s filmography will make it obvious that the gravel-throated action star loves nothing more than finding himself a role that he can reprise over and over again, something he’s built his entire career around since the one-two punch of Pitch Black and The Fast and the Furious first brought him to mainstream attention two decades ago.

He’s played Richard B. Riddick three times, with a fourth outing still tentatively on the cards, while Fast & Furious 10 and 11 will bring him up to ten appearances as Dominic Toretto. If you include animated sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet, then Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his seventh time voicing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Groot, while he returned after a fifteen-year absence to headline xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

On top of that, Diesel is still touting potential second installments for both Bloodshot and The Last Witch Hunter, without even mentioning his undisclosed role in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. If that still wasn’t enough, we’re now hearing from our sources – the same ones who allowed us to reveal John Cena’s role in Fast & Furious 9 long before it was confirmed – that the actor is already seeking out potential projects with multi-film potential once The Fast Saga draws to a close.

When you consider that sequels to Babylon A.D. and The Pacifier were also once on the table, Diesel has only starred in three movies across the last 20 years that weren’t either part of an established property, or designed with the intention of a new one. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it as the old saying goes, so it’s hardly a surprise he’d be looking for some job security once his days as Dom are over.

Amazon And Eon Reportedly Fighting Over James Bond’s Future

Amazon will inherit a huge number of properties that are ripe with sequel and reboot potential when the MGM acquisition is finalized, a list that includes Rocky, RoboCop, The Silence of the Lambs, Legally Blonde, Stargate and many more, but nobody’s going to claim that anything other than James Bond is the undisputed jewel in the crown.

Next year marks the 60th anniversary of Sean Connery’s debut in Dr. No, which will come hot on the heels of No Time to Die finally coming to theaters eighteen months behind schedule and drawing the Daniel Craig era to a close. It’s one of the most famous franchises in the history of cinema, so you’d expect Amazon to try and capitalize on that with all sorts of spinoffs, TV projects and everything in between.

However, Eon Productions duo Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have already made it clear that they’re not willing to play the game the way Amazon want them to, ruling out the idea of any episodic offshoots. We’re now hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us HBO Max were inviting pitches for Harry Potter shows long before it was confirmed – that the differences of opinion are causing some disagreements behind the scenes.

According to our information, Broccoli and Wilson aren’t interested in licensing out James Bond beyond the big screen adventures, while Amazon clearly want to utilize the brand for all that it’s worth. The Eon heads admitted 007 is at a critical juncture, and given that they’ve retained a huge amount of influence and veto power over the secret agent’s continued adventures even with the takeover, there’s going to be plenty of boardroom battles to come once the next iteration of MI6’s finest begins to take shape.

Dave Bautista Reportedly Wants A Role In Suicide Squad 3

Dave Bautista has been shouting from the rooftops about how Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will mark his final outing as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Drax the Destroyer, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be giving up on the comic book genre entirely.

After all, the former professional wrestler admitted that his decision is largely motivated by a combination of having to spend hours in the makeup chair before he can even set foot on set, where he proceeds to remain shirtless for the majority of the entire shoot. By the time Vol. 3 arrives in May 2023 he’ll be 54 years old, so you can understand why the hassle isn’t really going to be worth it much longer.

Bautista revealed that he turned down a role written specifically for him by James Gunn in The Suicide Squad in order to take top billing in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead instead, but we’re hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us a Justice League Dark show was in the works for HBO Max long before it was announced with J.J. Abrams at the helm – that he could yet end up playing a part in any potential third outing for Task Force X.

The Suicide Squad may have under-performed commercially even by the standards of the pandemic era, but both Gunn and Warner Bros. are keen to continue their working relationship. The filmmaker is known to be very close with Bautista, so if he ends up getting another bite at the cherry and we see the dysfunctional band of misfits, criminals and murderers brought back for another deadly mission, then it definitely can’t be ruled out that we might end up seeing him as a member of the roster.
