Xiaomi is working on 80W wireless charging
Xiaomi has announced its next salvo in the fast charging wars, a new 80W wireless method that the company claims beats out any other competitor. The 80W solution is said to be able to charge a 4,000mAh battery up to 50 percent full in eight minutes and 100 percent full in 19 minutes. The video above shows it in action on a modified Mi 10 Pro.
Xiaomi already has the fastest wireless charging on a shipping phone; the Mi 10 Ultra has 50W wireless technology that can fully charge its 4,500mAh battery in 40 minutes. Oppo recently announced a 65W solution that is said to be able to charge a 4,000mAh battery in 30 minutes, but the tech is yet to ship in a commercial device.
Fast wireless charging is much less common outside China, where...

New Batman Set Photo Has A Mr. Freeze Easter Egg
The Batman will take place in its own universe, but set photos have promised that it’s still a very full version of the DC world. Pics have teased that the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash exist in this continuity, and that this Gotham City is home to many of the Dark Knight’s biggest foes. Now, a new image from the movie’s set in Chicago – where exterior filming is taking place, while the principal cast shoots in the UK – alludes to two more comic book supervillains.
The below photo shared on social media is mostly grabbing attention for the Flash insignia featured in what appears to be a ripped poster stuck up on a wall. However, if you look closer, you can see that there are references to two of Gotham’s worst criminals on display, too. Namely, Anarky and Mr. Freeze.
The poster reads “STAB OUT THE EYE – DESTROY GOTHCORP.” The stylized ‘A’ in the word ‘STAB’ is lifted from the symbol worn by Anarky in the comics, suggesting that the anarchist group that put up this poster is perhaps run by the villain. What’s more, the company they wish to destroy, GothCorp, comes from Batman: The Animated Series. It appeared in acclaimed episode “Heart of Ice,” which told the origin story of Victor Fries.
Fries was an employee of GothCorp until callous CEO Ferris Boyle cut off his funding and indirectly caused the accident that led to his transformation. So, that’s a couple of neat references to the wider world of the Batman mythos in this one poster alone. Whether we could see either Anarky or Freeze in the movie is unknown, but the latter seems a cert for an appearance at some point in The Batman trilogy.
The concept of “stab the eye” also brings to mind the Riddler’s riddle in the trailer: “What is the price for your blind eye?” It’s possible that the villain’s quest to take out Gotham’s elite inspires a revolution of sorts across the city, hence this poster. That would be interesting to explore, though it would also recall similar plotlines in both The Dark Knight Rises and Joker.
The Batman is set to swoop into theaters on March 4th, 2022.

Miles Morales May Feature In As Many As 5-6 MCU Movies
None of us want to get rid of Tom Holland as Peter Parker anytime soon, but there’s definitely an ever-growing desire for Miles Morales to make his live-action debut in the MCU. Marvel can’t have missed all the hype, either, especially following the success of Into the Spider-Verse, so you can bet that they’ve got something cooking with the character. And some new intel may have given us a window into their plans for the second Spider-Man.
Insider Daniel Richtman has shared on his Patreon page that he’s heard that Marvel is currently casting for a black actor to fill a “strong supporting role” in Spider-Man 3. His sources tell him this is most likely Miles and that’s because the coveted part comes with options for 5-6 additional films. That’s a standard contractual deal for major Marvel stars, so clearly Miles will be a big player in the future of the franchise.
Further evidence that Marvel is in the midst of casting the role comes from Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse, who uncovered a now-deleted audition video from an African-American actor trying out for the part of “Daniel,” which is definitely an alias. The clip established that this “Daniel” is a fan of Spider-Man who – potentially big spoilers – watches a news report of the wall-crawler’s death.
This may be a fake scene for the auditioning process or it could tell us a heck of a lot about Spider-Man 3‘s plot. It’s hard to imagine that Marvel would kill Holland’s Peter off, but maybe the threequel will flip the script in some way. Could Doctor Strange help Peter fake his death until he can clear his name and in the meantime, Miles steps up as the web-head and we end up getting two Spider-Men, just like Holland’s always wanted?
We’ll know more as production on Spider-Man 3 ramps up, but it sure sounds like Miles Morales is swinging into the MCU in a big way.

The Batman Set Photo Hints That Wonder Woman Exists In Pattinson’s Universe
Despite being shut down twice as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, with the first instance leading to a six-month hiatus as the entire industry went into hibernation and the second coming after leading man Robert Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19, ever since cameras started rolling again on The Batman, there’s been a massive amount of set photos making their way online.
Director Matt Reeves got ahead of the game and released the first official look at Pattinson in costume before grainy images started doing the rounds, and sure enough, it didn’t take long before we got our first glimpse at the Batsuit. Now that production is back in full swing, we’ve seen plenty of shots of the cast and crew hard at work, including the Dark Knight himself in familiar surroundings lurking on the rooftops of Gotham.
The most interesting image, though, was that of an extra dressed in a low rent Superman costume, which would seem to confirm that the Man of Steel exists in the same narrative space as The Batman. A further picture from the same scene has now revealed a Wonder Woman outfit as well, doubling down on the possibility that the Caped Crusader isn’t the only superhero in Reeves’ corner of the franchise.
Expecting cameos from any members of the Justice League is incredibly wishful thinking, but the confirmation that Superman and Wonder Woman are established enough within The Batman‘s universe to get their own Halloween costumes creates the possibility that we might be introduced to more recognizable superheroes somewhere down the line, especially with the DCEU’s multiverse set to create almost infinite storytelling possibilities as to who can show up where.

Sony Rumored To Be Considering A New Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Movie
At this point, it seems like it’s all but confirmed that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be hopping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man 3. Of course, Sony recently poured cold water on the idea, but there’s enough evidence out there to suggest that it’s happening and it seems that their appearances in the franchise may not be limited to just the aforementioned threequel.
When it comes to Maguire, in particular, a report from noted insider Grace Randolph earlier this weekend claimed that the actor wants to be able to spend more time out of the suit should he sign on for Spider-Man 3, and doesn’t want to just swing by for a quick fan-pleasing cameo. And it seems he may get his wish, as Sony is now said to be considering giving him his own film to reprise the role in.
At least, that’s according to tipster Daniel Richtman, who shared the following on Patreon today:
Tag this under rumor but I hear that Sony might do what DC is doing and go all in with the Multiverse idea and do new solo films for Tobey and Andrew.
How exactly this would work is unclear, as Richtman didn’t offer up any further details, but the idea of new solo movies for both of the former web-slingers is obviously a hugely exciting prospect and with the multiverse set to be cracked wide open in the MCU soon, there are a number of ways that they can go about pulling it off. But presumably, such a thing would be a long ways away.
First, they need to officially lock both actors in for the upcoming Spider-Man 3, and probably only then, once they see how audiences react to having Tobey and Andrew back, will they make any final decisions on how long they want them to stick around for. Let’s just hope, though, that the threequel isn’t the extent of their return to the iconic role.

New Scientific Study Reveals The Scariest Movie Of All-Time
Determining the scariest movie of all-time is tough, as horror is very subjective. For instance, what might scare one person may not even phase another. But a scientific study has now attempted to get to the bottom of the matter and it’s produced a result that might surprise you.
Conducted by broadbandchoices – a “comparison tool for broadband deals” – 50 people of various ages watched over 100 hours of horror films, and by tracking their heart rates, the study was able to find the scariest pic ever made. And the winner was none other than 2012’s Sinister. Which is a terrifying movie, no doubt, but the most terrifying of all-time? We’re not sure we can say we agree with that.
According to the study, though, the average resting heart rate was 65 beats per minute, but during Sinister, that number climbed to 86 BPM. In second place, meanwhile, is Insidious, which also earned the award for biggest jump scare. In this case, the scare sent viewers’ BPM to 133. For comparison’s sake, Sinister‘s most terrifying jump scare saw audiences’ BPM hit 131.
Elsewhere on the top 10, though, for the scariest movies of all-time, we have The Conjuring, Hereditary, Paranormal Activity, It Follows, The Conjuring 2, The Babadook, The Descent and The Visit. Again, while these are all, indeed, terrifying films, we’re not sure we’d rank every single one of them among the scariest ever.
Circling back to Sinister, however, and for those unfamiliar, it’s a terrific entry into the genre that’s brutal and unforgiving at times. It’s got a couple of neat twists in its story, too, and, of course, delivers a ton of scares, with some of them being genuinely terrifying. Again, we’d be hard-pressed to say it’s the scariest film out there, but it’s certainly worth a watch if you’re looking to be frightened.

Google kills off app that let you check in on loved ones during an emergency
Google will discontinue its emergency location sharing app Trusted Contacts in December, and has already yanked it from the Google Play Store. Instead, it’s directing existing users to try similar but less helpful features in Google Maps. That’s a shame, because while Trusted Contacts could let you find a family member even if they don’t respond (say, if they are unconscious or in danger), Google Maps requires them to proactively broadcast their location to you.
The announcement was quite abrupt:
Google Maps has been able to do real time location sharing since 2017, but again, you have to opt-in to constant tracking, sharing your location with other people all the...
