Earlier this week, Sony celebrated a (somewhat arbitrary) milestone for PSVR: 4.2 million headsets sold. It sure sounds like a lot, but if you put it in comparison to other excessively publicized console accessories, like the Sega CD or the Kinect motion camera for the Xbox 360, it’s a far less impressive achievement, as noted today by Ars Technica.
There are two important numbers to look at for the PSVR (or any accessory): how many units it’s sold, and what percentage of total console owners have bought it, otherwise known as the attach rate. On Wednesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai met with President Trump to discuss contracts and other ongoing partnerships with the US government.

Earlier this week, Sony celebrated a (somewhat arbitrary) milestone for PSVR: 4.2 million headsets sold. It sure sounds like a lot, but if you put it in comparison to other excessively publicized console accessories, like the Sega CD or the Kinect motion camera for the Xbox 360, it’s a far less impressive achievement, as noted today by Ars Technica.
There are two important numbers to look at for the PSVR (or any accessory): how many units it’s sold, and what percentage of total console owners have bought it, otherwise known as the attach rate. Alexa’s chief scientist thinks the assistant needs a robot body to understand the world
Amazon’s Rohit Prasad, head scientist and an instrumental member of the Alexa division, says the company’s personal software assistant would be far smarter if it had a robot body and cameras to move around in the real world. Prasad, speaking at MIT Technology Review’s EmTech Digital AI conference in San Francisco yesterday, said, “The only way to make smart assistants really smart is to give it eyes and let it explore the world.”

Josh Brolin Has Seemingly Confirmed Avengers: Endgame’s Runtime
There’s been a strong likelihood that Avengers: Endgame will clock in at around 3 hours for a while now, as discussed by Kevin Feige, but it wasn’t until this week that the movie was officially listed as such. On Monday, AMC Theaters updated Endgame‘s runtime on the website to 3 hours and 2 minutes. That seemed like confirmation of the film’s length, but Marvel and Disney have yet to comment on the matter.
Although, it looks like they don’t need to, as Thanos himself, Josh Brolin, recently shared a fan’s post about the reported runtime on his Instagram Story. The actor didn’t say anything about the length at all, but we can presumably take the fact that one of the film’s stars has shared this runtime as a sign that it’s the real deal.

Since it was first rumored that Endgame could run for 3 hours, fans have debated whether that’s a good idea or not, with it even suggested that the movie should have an intermission. Some believe this might be too long, but others are willing to trust that Marvel know what they’re doing and are ready to be entertained for three full hours plus change. After all, plenty of major blockbusters have had hefty runtimes, most notably the Lord of the Rings films, and everyone lapped them up.
The Russo brothers revealed a couple of months back that they were working with a 3 hour cut of the movie and at the time, they explained that, as the culmination of the entire MCU to date, there was a lot to cover. Plus, the filmmakers admitted they didn’t want to short-change the “emotional moments” that they promise will be an intrinsic part of the story. So, buckle up, kids, because it looks like we’re in for 3 hours of Avengers: Endgame when it finally arrives on April 26th.

A Familiar MCU Villain Will Return In Avengers: Endgame
The 3D version of the Avengers: Endgame trailer has been released and fans have noticed something in it that isn’t there in the standard teaser. We’ve previously been told that the marketing for the movie has been deliberately tampered with in order to avoid spoilers and now we have proof of that as it seems that Marvel forgot to edit one clip in the 3D trailer, thereby telling us something we didn’t know before.
To see what we mean, take a look at the comparison shots below of Clint Barton fleeing from a fire. In the first pair of images, from the regular trailer, there’s nothing behind him. But in the third and fourth, we can clearly see some creatures on his tail. From what we can tell, these appear to be Outriders, the brutish henchmen that Thanos employed to invade Wakanda in the big Earthbound battle in Infinity War.
It’s not a huge surprise that the Outriders will return in Endgame, either. The Avengers movies have always given the heroes some alien nasties to beat up as cannon fodder for cool action scenes (see: the Chitauri, Ultron’s drones, etc). The fact that Marvel went to the effort of removing them in the normal trailer, though, goes to show how keen they are to keep as much under wraps as possible.
So, what can we tell from this discovery? Well, this looks to be an Earthbound tunnel of some kind and Hawkeye is on his own, so perhaps we can infer that the Outriders come after Clint when he’s flying solo in Tokyo at the beginning of the movie, where Natasha finds him. On the other hand, it might make more sense for Thanos to send his goons after the Avengers once they’ve started interfering with his plans again, so maybe this happens later into the runtime.

Guillermo Del Toro’s next endeavor in the realm of horror will be the upcoming film based on the series of spooky short stories written by Alvin Schwartz. The Academy Award-winner will be receiving a “story by credit” as well as taking up producing responsibilities, ensuring that this adaptation is sure to make moviegoers consider sleeping with the lights on long after the credits have rolled.
The latest tease of the highly anticipated scary movie is in the form of an unnerving poster showcasing The Red Dot. Without spoiling the short story, from the looks of this creepy imagery it seems this one vividly illustrates every teenager’s worst nightmare when it comes to zits. Yikes!
The source material revolves around a group of teens stumbling upon a mansion with a young girl living inside who has some rather horrible secrets that she’s been keeping. The result of this encounter leads the unsuspecting teens to experience some truly awful horrors and from the looks of this poster, they won’t be an easy thing to face.
From what everyone saw in the teaser spots during the Super Bowl and all the marketing materials that have followed, this motion picture is shaping up to another great addition to the horror genre. A full-length trailer is undoubtedly on the way at some point and fans better brace themselves, because what’s been showcased so far is the kind of stuff nightmares are truly made of.
It will be interesting to see how Del Toro and director André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Trollhunter) bring these tales of terror to life on the big screen, but it’s hard to imagine this collaboration producing anything that will disappoint. Either way, audiences everywhere will get to enjoy the end result when Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark opens on August 9th.

Angelina Jolie To Make Her MCU Debut With The Eternals
Once Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home are out of the way, Marvel Studios will turn their attention towards The Eternals, which sounds like it’s going to define the future course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With immortal characters and a plot that may span millennia, the film will dive deep into the history of the galaxy and perhaps even lay the seeds for the arrival of mutants in the MCU. Currently, the project’s still in pre-production and though we don’t know much about what’s being planned just yet, it does seem as if things are moving along quite well.
That’s because casting is now underway and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina Jolie is in talks to star in The Eternals. The Oscar-winning actress is apparently ready to get into the superhero movie game and she’s looking to do so by taking a lead role in the Chloe Zhao-directed film.
Details on who she’d be playing are being kept under wraps, but THR notes that the pic will feature a love story “between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.” Whether or not Jolie will be bringing Sersi to life, we can’t say, but it’s hugely exciting to hear that she’s on board and her involvement bodes very well for The Eternals.
As comic book readers will know, the Eternals are a different species of human – in much the same way as homo neanderthalis differs from homo sapiens. Unlike Neanderthals though, they have cosmic energy which more or less makes them immortal and gives them a pretty powerful set of abilities, including super strength, flight and a variety of psychic powers.
Some folks think that Marvel Studios will use the film to bring the X-Men and mutants into the MCU as well, with the Celestial race having apparently been teased in the comics as being the ones responsible for inserting the X-gene into the human race. Chalk that up as speculation for now, but as soon as more on The Eternals and Angelina Jolie’s role in it emerges, we’ll be sure to let you know.
