All she did was say some fairly innocuous and basic things about feminism at a press conference years ago, but ever since then, she’s been an unwilling front-line fixture in the culture wars. Some believe this means Captain Marvel just hasn’t gotten the praise she deserves, as her superheroic activities on screen are always overshadowed by the simmering anger from certain corners of the internet.

One moment in particular from Avengers: Endgame is being held up as a supreme example of badassery, with Captain Marvel no-selling a fierce headbutt from Thanos himself. Should this have made everyone an instant super fan?

Variety is the spice of life, something that stands James Gunn’s DCU villains in good stead

James Gunn knocked it out of the park with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, making the trilogy the most consistent in terms of quality across the MCU. One thing Gunn is getting particular praise for is how different all three Guardians villains feel.

This bodes well for his future as the head honcho of the DCU. The comics are known for having some of the best villains around. From Lex Luthor to the Joker; there’s a pretty wild collection of varied and interesting characters to choose from. If Gunn is capable of the range he’s already demonstrated with his Guardians villains, then audiences will be in for a treat once his DCU really gets up and running.

‘Eternals’ apologists get their hopes up after a star drops out of another high-profile sequel due to ‘scheduling conflicts’

Eternals isn’t exactly an MCU success story. Prior to release, Marvel Studios seemed to be under the impression they had an awards season contender on their hands, even whispering of an Oscars campaign. Reality came crashing down the second the Rotten Tomatoes score dropped, ending up at a terrible 47%. Audiences weren’t particularly enthusiastic either, with the film eventually clocking up a relatively disappointing $400 million worldwide.

All the above meant Marvel doesn’t seem eager to fast track Eternals 2, despite leaving the first movie on a tantalizing Harry Styles-shaped cameo. But Eternals has its fans, and some see the pieces moving in the background which may hint that Eternals 2 is coming to life.
