Zendaya says she felt like Tom Holland’s mom when Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire showed up

Now that the cat is well and truly out of the bag, to the extent that Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire are now doing joint interviews together, the veil has finally been lifted on how the two former Peter Parkers were enticed and convinced to return for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Garfield joked that he felt pressured into suiting up again once he discovered Sam Raimi’s O.G. big screen Spidey had committed to the project, while the current and canonical web-slinger revealed he was so nervous when his predecessors showed up for their first day on set that he brought Zendaya and Jacob Batalon along as his support system.

‘Wayne’s World’ director would love to see a 3rd movie

It’s been almost 30 years since we last partied on with Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar on the big screen, but people are still quoting lines from the two Wayne’s World movies on a regular basis, which just goes to show the impact the Saturday Night Live spinoff has had on the last three decades of pop culture.

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reunited for an Uber Eats commercial last year, and given how much modern Hollywood has relied on the warm, fuzzy, and rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia, it came as a surprise that we weren’t bombarded with rumors claiming a third feature-length installment was in the works after it had aired, like we were for the Edward Scissorhands sequel promo starring Timothee Chalamet.

A Bruce Willis actioner that doesn’t completely suck makes gains on Netflix

It’s very easy to rag on Bruce Willis for starring in such a huge volume of terrible movies, but we’re not here getting paid millions of dollars for doing the bare minimum and phoning in our day jobs, so credit must be given where it’s due.

Of course, the actor cemented his reputation as a legend of action cinema as soon as Die Hard first hit theaters over 30 years ago, and he remains one of his generation’s most prominent leading men after going on to star in a number of critical and commercial smash hits during his heyday, long before the rapid descent into mediocrity.

‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ finds the hero in a relationship at long last

Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike might be billed as the kind of titillating male revue saga that dreams are made of, but that really only describes the series on a surface level. The first film laid the groundwork for a universe that blended sexy and fun with emotional connections, as well as a magnitude of feelings.

In a recent round table with media outlets, including Collider, Steven Soderbergh shared more about what fans can expect from upcoming sequel Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

‘The Green Knight’ crew reveal how they brought the lavish fantasy to life

As one of the most well-received films of 2021, not to mention one of the best adaptations of Arthurian lore, The Green Knight went down as an instant cult classic, with the creatives behind the latest A24 film now revealing the process of bringing Camelot and its surrounding lands to life.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, production designer Jade Healy and cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo, the latter of whom some of you may know from his 2017 collaboration with The Green Knight director David Lowery on acclaimed existential supernatural drama A Ghost Story.

Johnny Knoxville reveals when he knew Steve-O was going to be famous

Jackass Forever is heading to theaters next week, with fans going into the film knowing the laughter will be nonstop, and the debauchery will be out in force. From the launched Porta Potty to the slip n’ bowl, and of course the bad grandpa himself Irving Zisman, the stunts performed are often so intense they’re hard to watch.

Most enthusiasts of the original TV show and its feature-length continuations can agree there are several times we’ve watched Jackass through the cracks between our fingers waiting to see if the worst is over, but that’s part of the appeal. The gang tests limits that most are too terrified to even contemplate, knowing they’re doing something that will definitely leave a mark of some description.

Charlie Day artfully dances around ‘Super Mario Bros.’ questions

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Charlie Day did his best to dance around the questions related to the upcoming animated Super Mario Bros movie put to him by the host.

After casting decisions were announced late last year, all the pieces are finally coming together for a project that feels like it’s been in development forever, but the iconic video game favorites will be arriving in theaters on December 21 of this year.

A forgotten Oscar winner makes a surprising dent on Disney Plus

The Disney Plus most-watched list is typically dominated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, the back catalogue of animated classics and their respective remakes, along with the rest of the Mouse House’s marquee properties, but sometimes an unexpected title or two can slip through the cracks to find unexpected success.

The most recent recipient is 1997’s Italian dramatic comedy Life is Beautiful, which gained widespread awards season recognition during its initial release, but has long since faded from the forefront of the collective consciousness.

Robert Pattinson reveals his Batman’s greatest fear

A reclusive billionaire dressing up as an armored flying mammal to pulverize criminals with his bare hands as his hometown’s resident vigilante is more than enough to ensure that Batman instills fear in his foes, but it’s not often that we get to see what the man under the cape and cowl is afraid of.

Bruce Wayne focuses so much energy on his double life that plenty of adaptations haven’t felt obliged to spend that much time exploring what makes him tick when he’s not prowling Gotham City at night. However, it sounds as though Robert Pattinson’s upcoming spin on the iconic favorite is set to dive deep into Bruce’s greatest fear.

Former Disney boss admits streaming is a ‘severe injury’ to theaters

We’re fast approaching two years since the pandemic came along and brought the theatrical industry to its knees, but barring a few notable exceptions, we’re still waiting on a sustained recovery that can bring business back to the levels we’d grown accustomed to.

Of course, plenty of titles have made a killing at the box office, but almost every single one of them is a big budget, effects-driven blockbuster that’s either part of an established franchise, or designed with the intention of launching a new one.

An unforgivably disappointing horror sequel traps viewers on streaming

Even though we should have learned long ago not to go into the latest chapter of a long-running horror franchise with anything approaching high expectations, there was genuine hope that Spiral would be different.

Sure, Saw had run out of gas long before eighth entry Jigsaw appeared to draw the story to a close, but the presence of Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson was more than enough to generate excitement, especially when the former was also executive producing, as well as contributing to the story.

Benedict Cumberbatch defends Doctor Strange’s role in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

When the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped last summer, plenty of fans were left feeling equal parts confused and suspicious by the behavior of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.

The Master of the Mystic Arts appeared to be acting very out of character, which inevitably led to him being pinpointed as the 438th Phase Four candidate to eventually be revealed as Mephisto in disguise. Of course, that line of inquiry drew a blank yet again, but it can’t be denied that Strange wasn’t his usual self.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ fans terrified about what James Gunn is planning

James Gunn has never been shy in admitting that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was always going to mark the end of the line for his association with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s resident band of intergalactic misfits, outlining as far back as Vol. 2‘s promotional trail that he’d be drawing a line under his time at the helm with the threequel.

Cameras are now rolling on the hotly-anticipated cosmic comic book blockbuster, but on the plus side, we’re getting some additional content to help soften the blow via the Disney Plus Holiday Special. Of course, Gunn didn’t say we’d never see the Guardians again, but he has reiterated repeatedly that the current lineup will be bowing out.

Simon Pegg offers an update on ‘Star Trek 4’

The future of the Star Trek franchise on the big screen has been clouded in uncertainty for what feels like forever, in direct contrast to the small screen arm of the property, which is positively thriving.

At various points we’ve heard tales of a canonical fourth installment in J.J. Abrams’ Kelvin series, a reboot from Noah Hawley that was binned just as pre-production was beginning to gear up, the mythical R-rated effort being developed by Quentin Tarantino, and much more besides.

A sci-fi action thriller that botched an awesome concept heats up on Netflix

Almost every imaginable permutation of the sci-fi action thriller has been seen or done before, making it very difficult for any writer or filmmaker to come up with a high concept that’s 100% unique and fresh.

Andrew Niccol had more than proven his chops turning established conventions on their head after scripting and directing the acclaimed Gattaca, before landing an Academy Award nomination for penning The Truman Show. Hopes were high for In Time, then, especially when it came packing such an intriguing premise, but the execution was painfully lacking.

Tom Cruise’s outer space movie expected to shoot next year

Tom Cruise and Doug Liman may have been beaten to the punch by Russian movie The Challenge, but the Edge of Tomorrow and American Made duo are still planning to head beyond the stars to shoot the first-ever Hollywood blockbuster to film in outer space.

In fact, just last week it was revealed that the production company behind the project laid out very ambitious plans to have a studio lot and sports arena constructed above Earth’s atmosphere by 2024. However, a new report from Variety offers up some new details on Cruise’s intergalactic adventure, offering that those plans aren’t directly connected to the A-list megastar’s upcoming feature.

James Gunn teases a bigger, darker ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy series has always been viewed as the most light-hearted, comedic, and wacky corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even if the stories have featured plenty in the way of significant personal and dramatic stakes.

Despite The Empire Strikes Back setting the template that much franchise fare still relies on over 40 years later, not every blockbuster sequel is obligated to get darker with each passing installment. However, the filmmaker teased during a recent appearance on Deadline’s Hero Nation podcast that things are about to get more serious than we’ve ever seen.

George Clooney teases upcoming movie with Brad Pitt and ‘Spider-Man’ director

George Clooney may give off the vibes of an old school movie star, but the actor and filmmaker has fully embraced the shifting nature of the industry in the age of streaming.

His two most recent directorial efforts have been Netflix’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi The Midnight Sky and Prime Video’s literary adaptation The Tender Bar, while he’s got another high-profile project on the docket for a third different on-demand platform.

Willem Dafoe explains why he returned for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

The multiversal premise of Spider-Man: No Way Home completely and totally hinged on whether or not the various returning faces written into the script would commit to the project, and there would have been a much different outcome had even one of the planned names turned down Marvel Studio’s and Sony’s offer.

Andrew Garfield joked that he was forced to sign on once he discovered Tobey Maguire had committed to suiting up for the first time in almost fifteen years, while Alfred Molina’s honest response when asked what motivated his decision to strap on Otto Octavius’ tentacles again was “money”.

Tobey Maguire reveals how he was convinced to return for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Even though money usually talks loudest in Hollywood, there was widespread belief in certain circles that the biggest obstacle towards making the massively ambitious Spider-Man: No Way Home a reality would be convincing Tobey Maguire to suit up as Sam Raimi’s Peter Parker.

After all, a voice role in The Boss Baby was his only screen credit since 2014’s Pawn Sacrifice, and outside of his cameo in the opening moments of Tropic Thunder, he’d only appeared in five live-action movies since he last played the friendly neighborhood superhero in Spider-Man 3.
