Based on the early viewing data, which has the mega budget action blockbuster breaking records left, right and center, Netflix’s Red Notice is well-placed to launch that major franchise with worldwide appeal the streaming service has been desperately on the hunt for.

Of course, it helps when massively popular stars like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot inhabit the lead role, and while critics haven’t been particularly enthusiastic about the movie’s merits, audiences have awarded it an impressive Rotten Tomatoes user rating of over 90%, so they’d clearly be over the moon to see the trio embark on another adventure or two.

Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ starts shooting in March 2022

Having officially ended his fifteen-year tenure at Warner Bros. following the release of HBO Max’s Justice League this past March, Zack Snyder dived headfirst into his new working relationship with Netflix, and he’s already spinning a huge number of plates despite the contract only having been made public a few months back.

Army of the Dead was shot before he inked a development deal with the streamer, but prequel Army of Thieves has already been released, while sequel Planet of the Dead and animated companion series Lost Vegas are on the way. Sony producer says she won’t make ‘Spider-Man’ movies without Tom Holland

Tom Holland admitted that he doesn’t plan on playing Spider-Man when he’s in his 30s, echoing sentiments shared by on and offscreen mentor Robert Downey Jr. on the actor’s long term future as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s friendly neighborhood superhero.

If the actor plans on sticking to his word, then that means Sony are going to have to try and churn out as many movies as possible featuring the web-slinging icon before Holland reaches the milestone in June of 2026. The star’s contract expires after the release of No Way Home, so there’s going to be some interesting negotiations in the near future.

‘Red Notice’ director says the movie cost way more than $200 million

Mammoth production costs aren’t always a badge of honor, but Netflix and the stars of Red Notice have hardly been shy in touting the action epic as the streaming service’s most expensive original movie ever, with estimates putting the budget at around $200 million.

Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot were paid at least $20 million each for their participation, and that’s not including whatever else Johnson made from his producing fee via Seven Bucks, with the Red Notice salaries alone enough to fund a feature in itself.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ending was changed at the request of Tom Holland

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has settled into a comfortable if all-too-familiar formula when it comes to putting together the third acts of its comic book blockbusters; there’s going to be an onslaught of CGI as a hero or heroes do battle against the villain, who quite often comes with the support of a faceless army of cannon fodder.

On the plus side, the dreaded blue sky beam hasn’t been seen for a while, but arguably the weakest parts of both Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings were their respective climactic showdowns, which leaned heavily into excessive spectacle for no other reason than the fact that’s what Marvel does.
