Hundreds of thousands of ‘lost’ MySpace songs have been recovered
The Internet Archive has published a catalogue of 490,000 MySpace songs uploaded to the service between 2008 and 2010 that were previously thought lost as a result of a botched server migration. These songs are less than one percent of the estimated 50 million tracks uploaded between 2003 and 2015 that the once dominant social network accidentally deleted.
The source of the saved tracks is an “anonymous academic group” that was studying music networks while MySpace was still active. As part of their research, it downloaded 1.3 terabytes of music from the service. Later, when the news of the data loss emerged, it contacted the Internet Archive and offered to send it the files.

Preliminary report into 737 Max crash clears pilots, suggests anti-stall tech to blame
Officials investigating the deadly crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 have said this morning that the plane suffered from “repetitive uncommanded nose-down” prior to crashing, in an apparent reference to the Boeing aircraft’s controversial automated flight control system. Officials also said that the plane had not been damaged by a foreign object, and stressed that the plane’s pilots followed the correct procedures, but could not prevent the 737 Max 8 from crashing.
“The preliminary report clearly showed that the Ethiopian Airlines Pilots who were commanding Flight ET 302/10 March have followed the Boeing recommended and FAA approved emergency procedures to handle the most difficult emergency situation created on the airplane.”...

Google is shutting down the Google Play Artist Hub at the end of the month, reports 9to5Google. First launched in 2012, the hub allowed smaller indie artists to upload and sell their music through the Google Play store and Google Play Music service. Electric carmakers have long been clamoring for a battery breakthrough that will improve the range of their vehicles while also extending their lifespans. Innolith, a Swiss startup, says its new high-density lithium-ion batteries can do just that.
The company claims to have made the world’s first 1,000 Wh/kg rechargeable battery. (Watt-hours per kilogram is a unit of measurement commonly used to describe the density of energy in batteries.) By comparison, the batteries that Tesla uses in its Model 3 — the so-called 2170 cells — are an estimated 250 Wh/kg; the company plans to eventually push that to 330 Wh/kg. Tesla is selling fewer cars, but says it has ‘sufficient’ cash
Tesla’s sales have fallen for the first time in nearly two years. The Silicon Valley automaker announced that it delivered 63,000 cars globally in the first quarter of 2019, about 50,900 of which were Model 3s. That represents a 31 percent decline in deliveries compared to the final quarter of 2018. The last time Tesla saw a quarter-to-quarter sales decline was in the first half of 2017 — just before the Model 3 went into production.
As a result, “we expect Q1 net income to be negatively impacted,” according to a company statement. The statement also said the carmaker had “sufficient cash on hand.”

Today, Tesla is taking a step closer to a true self-driving car future with a mode that entirely lets your car decide when to change lanes. (Yes, we’ve just entered a world where your car might pass other cars automatically.)
Previously, if you punch in your destination, keep your hands on the steering wheel and feet near the pedals, your Tesla’s optional “Navigate on Autopilot” mode would do its best to keep you on the freeway, proactively asking for confirmation before it makes any lane changes. The prevailing strategy in the mobile space as far as cameras go these days seems to be “more is always better,” and leaks (courtesy of OnLeaks, posting at CashKaro) of a new, as yet unknown Motorola device featuring four rear shooters seem to indicate that the company is diving headfirst into the trend.
Details at this stage are predictably slim, but we do know a few things: in addition to the plethora of cameras, the device will offer a 6.2-inch display with a teardrop notch (similar to Motorola’s recent Moto G7) with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Electric car battery with 600 miles of range? This startup claims to have done it
Electric carmakers have long been clamoring for a battery breakthrough that will improve the range of their vehicles while also extending their lifespans. Innolith, a Swiss startup, says its new high-density lithium-ion batteries can do just that.
The company claims to have made the world’s first 1,000 Wh/kg rechargeable battery. (Watt-hours per kilogram is a unit of measurement commonly used to describe the density of energy in batteries.) By comparison, the batteries that Tesla uses in its Model 3 — the so-called 2170 cells — are an estimated 250 Wh/kg; the company plans to eventually push that to 330 Wh/kg. A test version of SpaceX’s next-generation spacecraft, the Starship, successfully ignited its onboard engine for the first time today — though the vehicle didn’t go for far. The ignition was a test known as a static fire, meant to try out the engine while the vehicle remained tethered to the Earth. However, today’s test marked the first time this vehicle lit up its engine, and it could pave the way for short “hop” flights in the near future.

Tesla is selling fewer cars, but says it has ‘sufficient’ cash
Tesla’s sales have fallen for the first time in nearly two years. The Silicon Valley automaker announced that it delivered 63,000 cars globally in the first quarter of 2019, about 50,900 of which were Model 3s. That represents a 31 percent decline in deliveries compared to the final quarter of 2018. The last time Tesla saw a quarter-to-quarter sales decline was in the first half of 2017 — just before the Model 3 went into production.
As a result, “we expect Q1 net income to be negatively impacted,” according to a company statement. The statement also said the carmaker had “sufficient cash on hand.”

Your Tesla can now change lanes without asking permission
Today, Tesla is taking a step closer to a true self-driving car future with a mode that entirely lets your car decide when to change lanes. (Yes, we’ve just entered a world where your car might pass other cars automatically.)
Previously, if you punch in your destination, keep your hands on the steering wheel and feet near the pedals, your Tesla’s optional “Navigate on Autopilot” mode would do its best to keep you on the freeway, proactively asking for confirmation before it makes any lane changes. But a new software update changes that. If the driver says they don’t require the car to confirm a lane change, the car will... just change lanes.

A trending and vastly expanding GitHub database where Chinese developers have been airing their workplace grievances may be at risk of censorship. A number of internet users in China are reporting seeing their access to the database cut off when using browsers offered by companies like Tencent, Alibaba, Xiaomi, and Qihoo 360, as first spotted by Abacus. Unknown Motorola phone with four cameras leaks
The prevailing strategy in the mobile space as far as cameras go these days seems to be “more is always better,” and leaks (courtesy of OnLeaks, posting at CashKaro) of a new, as yet unknown Motorola device featuring four rear shooters seem to indicate that the company is diving headfirst into the trend.
Details at this stage are predictably slim, but we do know a few things: in addition to the plethora of cameras, the device will offer a 6.2-inch display with a teardrop notch (similar to Motorola’s recent Moto G7) with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Joker Trailer Features A Nod To Another Batman Villain
The first Joker trailer arrived today and promised a DC movie like no other. Cutting away all the excess comic book mythology – including Batman himself – it’ll tell the origins of the Clown Prince of Crime in a way fans have never seen before. Still, this is a DC effort so there’ll certainly be easter eggs and allusions to other characters from Batman’s world. For instance, Thomas Wayne will be played by Brett Cullen, as glimpsed in the trailer.
There may also be a nod to a fellow supervillain hidden in the promo, too. Reddit user P0re noticed an intriguing bit of graffiti on an elevator wall behind Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck in one clip. Though the significance of the word before it’s hard to decipher, fans will instantly pick up on that green question mark. Could Edward Nygma be lurking somewhere in this version of Gotham City?
The potential reference gets more convincing when you realize that the shot takes place inside Arkham State Hospital, which Arthur is shown to visit. This establishment is surely a reimagined Arkham Asylum, the madhouse that’s typically the home away from home for Dark Knight foes like the Joker and the Riddler. Hopefully we’ll get more of these fun callbacks to the famed comic book rogues gallery in the film. I’d like to think they’re all out there in this universe having their own gritty origins stories. Watch out for a spinoff film about the Condiment King played by Daniel Day-Lewis.
For a pic that’s ostensibly standalone, the Joker trailer sure did a good job of alluding to a wider universe. On top of Thomas Wayne’s cameo and this Riddler easter egg, fans are also thinking that kid Fleck interacts with could be a young Bruce. And, though an original tale, there’s generous helpings of The Killing Joke in the storyline, too. Suffice it to say, there’s much for fans to look forward to when Joker hits on October 4th.

Kevin Smith Shares His Thoughts On The Joker Trailer
The first trailer for Joker arrived today and DC fans were blown away by what looks to be a dark, grim psychological thriller. Among those who can’t wait to see what Joaquin Phoenix does with the Clown Prince of Crime this October 4th is Kevin Smith, director, comic book writer and the internet’s favorite superhero nerd.
Smith shared his thoughts on the trailer on Twitter and he couldn’t resist a pun on classic Batman graphic novel The Killing Joke, which is clearly a major influence on Joker. The filmmaker and fan also weighed into a moment in the promo that’s got fans talking as it could introduce us to a young Bruce Wayne.

“SPOILERS! This joke is killing! Love the tone and feel of this trailer! Can’t believe we get to see the cinematic fall and rise of the Clown Prince of Crime! And that little boy behind the gates who he makes smile? I’m guessing that kid might see a very dark night one day…”
The moment Smith is referring to is a clip which shows Arthur Fleck creepily trying to cheer up a kid through a pair of big iron gates, lifting up the boy’s cheeks to turn his frown upside down. It’s too brief to say for sure, but those gates definitely suggest that this is happening at the front of Wayne Manor.
Plus, we know that Joker takes place when Bruce is still young as Thomas Wayne will play a supporting role in the movie, portrayed by Brett Cullen as a kind of Trump-like pompous politician. We get our first glimpse of him in the trailer, too, as he appears on TV to chastise Fleck’s actions as the Joker, ironically criticizing the sick individual for going around in a mask – something his son is later destined to do.
