Kevin Feige We’ll Find Out If Yelena Survived Thanos’ Snap

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have moved on from the Infinity Saga, but the effects of the final two Avengers blockbusters will continue to reverberate around the franchise for years to come. Thanos snapping his fingers and wiping out half of all life in existence isn’t the sort of thing you just gloss over and move past, and it’s already impacted several of the most recent installments.

The very first scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home was all about the Blip before the movie featured countless references throughout the story, while in WandaVision we saw how heavily Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau was affected, rendering her unable to say goodbye to her mother. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier revealed that five years in purgatory was one of just many reasons why Sam Wilson couldn’t get a bank loan, but as a prequel Black Widow was largely unaffected by the chaos.

The post-credits scene took place in the modern day timeline, though, with Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine sending Yelena Belova on a revenge mission to track down and take out Clint Barton, and it sounds as though we’ll be finding out whether or not Florence Pugh’s instant fan favorite survived the Snap. During a Black Widow watch party, a viewer asked if Yelena had been blipped, and Kevin Feige stepped in to offer a tease that we’ll be finding out eventually, which you can see below.

It might become a little tiresome if every new character we meet in Phase Four has to explicitly state if they’d been blipped, but the chances are that it’ll be tied to one of Yelena’s upcoming storylines, which could be addressed in either Hawkeye or a Black Widow sequel.

Ryan Reynolds Explains His Long-Running Feud With Hugh Jackman

The feud between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is the social media gift that keeps on giving, with the A-list duo never missing out on the chance to troll each other. It’s provided no shortage of entertainment over the years to see the pair throwing barbs at one another on a regular basis, and their wholesome friendship is comfortably the best thing to come out of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

They’ve even taken their rivalry to the big screen, with both of Fox’s Deadpool movies featuring plenty of references to Jackman and his mutant alter ego, while the longtime Logan is listed in the credits of Reynolds’ upcoming Free Guy, so we may even be getting a meta cameo that references their decade-long rivalry.

There’s been plenty of talk that the Marvel Cinematic Universe Deadpool 3 could bring them together, even if Fox’s plans for a road trip buddy comedy starring the Merc with a Mouth and the mutton-chopped mutant was nixed when the company sold up to Disney.

In a recent podcast appearance, Reynolds was asked about his constant back-and-forth with Jackman, and it sounds as though he needles the Australian star for no other reason than his winning personality.

“You know, Hugh Jackman is, I really shouldn’t say this, but he makes kindness look like murder. I mean he really is just the nicest guy you’d ever meet. And it drives me nuts sometimes. No, there’s no but, unfortunately. He really is the real deal…. No, I want to possess the sense of well-being that Hugh Jackman possesses. I wanna understand that to some degree, so we sometimes hate and lash out at the things we cannot understand. So I tend to hate and lash out at Hugh, and he reciprocates of course because he’s nothing if not a sportsman. And that’s kind of it. But in reality, he’s like my life sherpa. He’s one of the best guys I know.”

Hugh Jackman has a reputation for being one of the nicest and most genuine people in the business, so he’s the perfect foil for Ryan Reynolds‘ signature snark, sarcasm and self-deprecation. It’s a fact of life that best buds will always rip on each other any time the opportunity presents itself, and it’s good to know that the rules still apply to some of the most famous faces in Hollywood, with the feud showing no signs of ending.

Kang Will Reportedly Be The MCU’s Next Thanos

Obviously, the Season 1 finale of Loki has already confirmed Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror to be the next end-of-level boss for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s roster of superheroes, but the actor’s brief outing in the conclusion to the Disney Plus show’s first run indicated that we could be getting a big bad completely different, and perhaps ultimately better, than Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War may have changed audience perception by having a CGI-assisted Josh Brolin take center stage in the narrative and ultimately accomplish his goals, but the Mad Titan kind of sucked up until that point. We were supposed to treat him as the ultimate threat to the MCU, when all he really did was show up here and there, floating in his space chair and having his lackeys do most of the work.

Majors’ Kang was confirmed for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania a long time ago, but we’re hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us Captain America 4 with Anthony Mackie was in the works long before it was confirmed – that He Who Remains will be replicating the Thanos formula to a certain extent, by showing up all across the franchise in a number of projects.

Perhaps the most exciting thing is that He Who Remains was killed right off the bat, but not before he teased that a number of much more dangerous variants of his were on their way to the multiverse. Realistically, that means we could be seeing Majors give a completely different performance each time he appears as a new version of Kang the Conqueror, instead of repeating the Thanos approach of dry, exposition-laced cameos and little else.

Netflix Reportedly Planning More Fear Street Projects

Netflix recently made some big moves at boardroom level, signaling a more concerted shift into focusing increased time, energy and investment into creating the dreaded ‘four-quadrant’ blockbuster precision engineered to cater to the largest possible audience, and thus launch a major franchise that’ll drive up subscriber numbers.

Ironically, it’s the less expensive in-house titles that have tended to get sequels so far, with the likes of Extraction, Enola Holmes, The Old Guard, The Kissing Booth, The Christmas Chronicles, Spenser Confidential and more all acting as the launchpad for a multi-film series without breaking the budgetary bank. We can now add the Fear Street trilogy to that list, with director Leigh Janiak teasing she’s got some even more ambitious plans in store.

Sadie Sink Fear Street 1978 Clip

The filmmaker wants to use R.L. Stine’s string of seventeen books comprising over 150 stories as the basis for what she described as the Marvel Cinematic Universe of horror, and we’re hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us Netflix were developing a prequel spinoff to The Witcher long before Blood Origin was announced – that Janiak is set to get her wish.

According to our information, even more Fear Street adaptations are now in the earliest stages of development, with Netflix looking to act in double quick time after the trilogy scored widespread critical and audience acclaim, with the entire trio having dominated the most-watched list ever since Part One: 1994 was released. A mid-credits stinger left the door wide open to pick up where things left off, and like Janiak said, there’s no shortage of either source material or creativity from which to draw inspiration, and the premise is ripe for both exploration and repeated reinvention.

The Suicide Squad Has 2 Character Deaths That Made James Gunn Cry

Warner Bros. went all out to secure the services of James Gunn, swooping in just days after the filmmaker was fired by Disney from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and he was offered his choice of any property he wanted. Having decided to tackle The Suicide Squad, WB reciprocated his enthusiasm by handing Gunn a huge amount of creative freedom.

That’s not the sort of thing the studio bestows upon anyone looking at their track record for getting far too heavily involved in the production of numerous DCEU blockbusters, and Gunn revealed that he’s taken his liberties to heart by killing off almost every single one of the movie’s major characters.

That doesn’t mean he’s just doing it for sh*ts and giggles, though, with the 54 year-old admitting in a new interview that two deaths in particular still bring him to the brink of misty-eyed sadness anytime they cross his mind, even though it was his choice to dispatch them in the first place.

“Some of the characters, especially as you go further into the movie and some of the deaths later in the film still break my heart every time I watch. There’s two characters in particular that when they die, I still get teary-eyed every time I watch the movie, even when I’m watching those scenes edited, when I was going through them. It still really kills me.”

The early reactions to The Suicide Squad have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, and it’s got the undoubted potential to be one of the best superhero blockbusters we’ve seen in recent years. Gunn has more than proven his chops at ensemble-based actioners packed with wacky characters and irreverent humor, with the promise of a very hard R-rating set to offer a more visceral, incredibly foul-mouthed and entirely different experience to his Guardians duology.

You never know, fans might share his sentiments and find themselves bawling their eyes out in theaters across the world in just a couple of weeks when two of his favorites are shuffled off to their mortal coil, whoever they end up being.
