Superman Will Show Up In Black Adam 2 For A Big Showdown

Dwayne Johnson finally officially confirmed that Black Adam was in the works over at DC this week, announcing that his first outing as Shazam’s nemesis will be out in cinemas in two years’ time. Clearly, Warner Bros. is hoping for a pretty fast turnaround with this one so that they can kickstart a franchise around the ruler of Kanhdaq. They have big plans for Adam, too, and it looks like these might involve having him face off against the Man of Steel himself.

That’s right, We Got This Covered can report that Superman is expected to show up in Black Adam 2. Our sources – the same ones who said Adam will be in Shazam! 3 and that Viola Davis was returning for The Suicide Squad, both of which have since been confirmed – have told us that we should expect a showdown between Clark Kent and Teth-Adam in the sequel as this is something the studio’s very keen on doing. It could be preceded by a small cameo from Supes in the first film, but that’s not a sure thing just yet, likely due to the character currently being in flux in the DCEU.

Another reason Superman is being held off for the sequel is because Adam’s main rival in his first solo flick will be Hawkman. This is something that’s been reported before now, and our sources – who told us a Green Lantern TV show was coming to HBO Max, before it was officially announced – also corroborate this info. So, get ready for Carter Hall to make his big screen debut in Black Adam. Rumors have also said that Stargirl and other members of the Justice Society of America could feature, as well.

If you’re wondering why WB isn’t doing the obvious thing and having Adam battle Shazam, that’s because they’re keeping that treat back for Shazam! 3. As mentioned above, this was something that our sources told us over the summer, before Zachary Levi made the plan public and confirmed it during a convention appearance. So, we’ve reason to believe that a Superman/Black Adam showdown is indeed on its way to the DCEU. But first, we have to meet Johnson’s anti-hero in his origins movie, arriving on December 22nd, 2021.

Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene May Confirm Thanos Is Still Alive

By the standard of MCU villains – a demographic known for their short lifespans – Thanos had a pretty good run in the Marvel franchise, featuring in a total of five films before his eventual defeat in this year’s Avengers: Endgame. But should Marvel Studios ever wish to bring back the Mad Titan, a deleted scene from the character’s last screen outing may have already hinted at how a comeback could be arranged.

The unused footage is taken from the exchange between Hulk and the Ancient One in 2012 New York. In an apparent contradiction of developments from 2016’s Doctor Strange, Tilda Swinton’s character explains that she’s been able to see into the future beyond the moment of her death, and is even able to clarify exactly how the snap will work.

As it turns out, the people who turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War weren’t so much killed as they were willed out of existence, and while death is final, the snap is not. This key distinction explains how Earth’s Mightiest Heroes could resurrect the dusted victims in Endgame but were unable to bring back Black Widow or anyone else who died a regular death.

On top of that, the Ancient One’s explanation also offers a convenient loophole for how Thanos could still be alive and even possibly return one day. After all, if the victims of the first snap weren’t exactly dead, then it stands to reason that the purple tyrant didn’t really die either when Iron Man turned him to dust.

To take things further, perhaps some trace of the snap victims still exists on an alternate plane of reality, just waiting to be restored. And while we already know that the Infinity Stones have the power to call dusted people back into existence, who’s to say that there isn’t some other way of undoing an Infinity Gauntlet snap?

In any case, the climax of Avengers: Endgame suggests that the Mad Titan probably isn’t going to be a major threat again for a while at least, but in the meantime, Marvel’s Phase 4 finally gets underway with the release of Black Widow on May 1st, 2020.

WB Interested In Doing Another Mask Movie With Jim Carrey

In the days before the dominance of Marvel, 1994’s The Mask was one of the hottest comic book adaptations of the decade. Part of a hat-trick of movies that year that put star Jim Carrey on the map – the others were Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber – the film earned a seriously impressive $351 million at the box office. Now, with superhero flicks the name of the game, it’s possible that the franchise could be relaunched in an exciting way.

We Got This Covered has heard that Warner Bros. is interested in resurrecting the Dark Horse Comics hero for a new big screen outing. What’s more, our sources – the same ones who told us that Bill Murray is returning in Ghostbusters 3 and that another Scream movie is in the works, both of which ended up being right – say that their first choice is to get Carrey back to play Stanley Ipkiss, the unlucky everyman who becomes a living cartoon when he puts on an enchanted Norse mask. It’s currently unclear if he’s been approached, but we’ve been told that the studio is definitely keen on the idea of working with the actor again.

You might remember there already being talk of a new Mask film over the summer, with co-creator Mike Richardson saying that he’s involved with a reboot that would bring the tone closer to the darker style of the comics and star a female comedian in the lead. From what we understand, both a female-led reboot and the Carrey-starring sequel could move forward as separate projects, as the studio is certainly hot on the idea of bringing the property back, but right now, it seems as if the one with Carrey is taking priority.

The Mask

Clearly, WB is aiming to bring back The Mask franchise in a big way and is currently keeping their options open, with both of these projects in early, early development. I’d imagine at some point the studio will just pick the one they really want to go with and the other will be quietly shelved, as they’ve got to be careful how they do this seeing as 2005’s Son of Mask was an absolute stinker. But who knows? Both pics could end up materializing and we may wind up with a whole new series of movies.

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, though. Right now, it’s still too early to say for sure what’ll happen, but tell us, does the sound of a sequel to The Mask starring Jim Carrey sound sssmokin’ to you? Let us know in the comments section down below.

Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene Shows Thor Trying to Kiss Valkyrie

In the new Infinity Saga box set, Marvel Studios has released a whole load of previously unseen content that spans the last eleven years of superhero cinema. And amidst this array of bonus material, you’ll find a scene that teases – then quickly denies – a romantic relationship between the God of Thunder and the new ruler of Asgard.

Earlier this year, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson revealed that the two of them filmed a kissing scene for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. And while the footage ultimately didn’t make the final cut, it seems that Thor and Valkyrie’s latest screen outing almost went down the same path.

As you may recall, the pair’s final scene together in Avengers: Endgame sees Hemsworth’s character name Valkyrie as his successor for the throne of Asgard. What you didn’t see in theaters, however, is the deleted footage of Thor attempting to kiss the legendary warrior, only for her to turn him down. The two of them then awkwardly joke about it before moving on.

And so Jane Foster remains Thor’s only proper love interest to date, though in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, it looks like Natalie Portman’s character will be stepping out from under her ex’s shadow to become a leading heroine in her own right.

As for Valkyrie, Thompson declared at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that the new king of Asgard “needs to find her queen,” and while it remains to be seen just who the heroine has her eye on, Thompson has been all too happy to encourage the fans pushing for a Captain Marvel romance.

In any case, though Avengers: Endgame ultimately saw Valkyrie and Thor go their separate ways, you can likely expect a reunion between the pair when Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on November 5th, 2021.
