Google delays the Android 11 Beta announcement as protests roil US cities
Google had been planning to unveil new features coming in Android 11 on June 3rd, but it has decided to delay the unveiling. In a tweet on Friday evening, Android’s developer account said that “We are excited to tell you more about Android 11, but now is not the time to celebrate.” Google says that it will “be back with more on Android 11, soon,” but did not say when that might be.
Although Google doesn’t explicitly say why, the reason is very clear. The announcement comes as many American cities are filled with protests, looting, and fires. The response to the death of George Floyd in Minnesota has extended well beyond the conflict in Minneapolis. The Bay area where Google and most of its employees are based has seen major conflicts in...

Horror Fans Freaking Out Over Ryan Gosling Playing The Wolfman
The Dark Universe became a laughing stock after 2017’s The Mummy bombed, but to be fair to Universal, they’ve got back in the game pretty quickly and have already found a new, more successful direction to go in with their classic horror properties – dispensing with the shared franchise gimmick and focusing on making creator-led standalone features. Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man, for instance, was well-received earlier this year. Now, the next one to get this treatment is The Wolfman and it’s already got a big name attached to star.
Variety reported this evening that Ryan Gosling has signed up to lead another reboot of the iconic werewolf tale. The trade notes that this particular take on the material, whatever that may be, was actually pitched to the studio by the Drive star. He was originally set to direct, too, but has ultimately decided to leave that to someone else. The search for a director is reportedly nearing its end though, with Bad Education‘s Cory Finley one of those being eyed. Meanwhile, a script from Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo (Orange is the New Black) is already written.
Of course, the news has already gone viral, with Universal horror fans freaking out over the announcement that Gosling will be taking on the iconic role, which was originally played by Lon Chaney Jr. back in the 1940s and again by Benicio del Toro in the 2010 bomb of a remake. Usually folks are divided on things like this but nope, not in this case. Everyone seems to be on board with the idea.

Ryan Gosling is going to be The Wolfman. A: That is the best possible way to get me interested in a Wolfman reboot. And B: Wow turns out I’d really love to direct a Ryan Gosling-led Wolfman movie. But since I can’t I’m just excited to watch it. https://t.co/sJR2tyovx5

Other creator-led reboots on the way include Paul Feig’s Dark Army, Elizabeth Banks’ The Invisible Woman, Dexter Fletcher’s Renfield and Matt Stawski’s Monster Mash. James Wan is also believed to be producing a new version of Frankenstein.

Jared Leto’s Joker Might Return To The DCEU Now Thanks To Snyder Cut
Few characters have enjoyed as many portrayals or voices as DC’s very own Clown Prince of Crime. The list includes some pretty prominent talents at that, the most iconic being Mark Hamill’s sinister voice from Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham video games, and then there was the supremely lauded performance by Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but these are just the tip of the iceberg. There’s also been Joaquin Phoenix from 2019’s Oscar-nominated Joker, Jack Nicholson, Cameron Monaghan, Troy Baker and, believe it or not, even Zach Galifianakis in the The LEGO Batman Movie.
Of course, there was also the Clown Prince played by Jared Leto in the much-maligned Suicide Squad, but it didn’t seem like we’d be seeing more of his take on the villain after his portrayal was slammed by fans and critics alike. However, the planned release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League for HBO Max may have just shifted the equation significantly, and here’s how.
You see, with the Snyder Cut now confirmed, there’ve been numerous reports pointing to the possibility of the release of the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad also coming to HBO Max. David Ayer has even taken to Twitter to express his interest in getting it done. And while Warner Bros. has yet to make it official, sources close to WGTC – the same ones who said Justice League Dark and Green Lantern shows are coming to HBO Max, which we now know to be true – say that the Ayer Cut is indeed on the way (thanks to the Snyder Cut happening) and will reportedly feature a lot more Joker. Not only that, but if it’s met with positive reception, Warner Bros. will consider bringing back Leto for future projects.
How all this will coincide with James Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie, confusingly called The Suicide Squad, is currently unknown, while it’s also unclear if the Morbius star would even want to come back. Still, with Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the villain not part of the DCEU continuity, there’s certainly room for Jared Leto’s Joker to return. But first, we need to wait and see how his extended role in the Ayer Cut goes over with fans.
