Warner Bros deploys scorched earth tactics on The Flash social media reactions

The Flash is now in theaters and, unfortunately for Warner Bros, also all over the internet. We won’t go into specifics, save to say that there are a lot of clips from the movie on social media that clearly come from a pirate cam version. This means it’s all hands on deck for the Warner Bros’ copyright strike team, who are hard at work making sure that every unofficial video of The Flash is scrubbed from social media as fast as possible.

This is effectively a game of high-speed whac-a-mole, though an unintended consequence seems to be that clips that aren’t even from The Flash are also getting deleted. It’s safe to say fans aren’t happy with these scorched-earth tactics:

The Flash gets off to a decent start at the box office compared to recent Marvel and DC movies

The Flash is now out of the starting blocks and the numbers are in for the Thursday night preview screenings. Warner Bros. had sky-high expectations for Barry Allen’s first solo adventure, with the movie bolstered by leaning heavily on Batman in the marketing.

As per Deadline, this tactic appears to have paid off and the movie has already scored a healthy $9m in previews. This puts it in line with movies like Venom, Doctor Strange and Aquaman. Projections are putting The Flash on scoring a $70-75 million opening weekend, though optimists are putting it in the $80 million territory.

One scene from The Flash is causing something between mass confusion and outright outrage

Let’s get one thing straight up top. Yes, Barry Allen does put a baby in a microwave in The Flash. But no, it’s not quite how the insane-looking clip currently doing the rounds on social media is making it look. The video appears to show the title hero laughing maniacally in front of a screaming nurse, before carefully sliding a baby into a microwave and closing the door, as you can see.
