Jeffrey Dean Morgan Rumored To Return As Flashpoint Batman In The Flash
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice had a ton of world-building to do in order to really establish the DCEU and it always felt a bit unnecessary to include a flashback that saw Bruce’s parents getting killed onscreen yet again. I mean, we all know his origin story and casting well-known actors like Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan as Thomas and Martha Wayne seemed odd when they weren’t given a whole lot to do.
That being said, Morgan has frequently teased the possibility of returning as the Flashpoint version of Batman, with the upcoming solo film for the Flash the most likely place that we’ll see character. The pic will reportedly take much inspiration from the “Flashpoint” arc in the comics, after all, which set up an alternate history where Bruce was the one who was killed in the alley, with his father eventually becoming the Dark Knight and Martha going insane and turning into the Joker.
Given all the trouble behind the scenes on The Flash, it’s still unclear exactly what we’ll see in the film, but it seems that all of Morgan’s teases may actually end up coming to fruition. And that’s because The Cinema Spot is reporting tonight that the actor is now circling the role of Flashpoint Batman, which We Got This Covered already told you last month.
Apparently, formal talks haven’t yet begun, but The Cinema Spot says Flashpoint Batman is indeed in the film. And frankly, there’s no reason to think the role won’t go to Morgan. Especially as we know he’s interested in it and it’d also be something that would send the fans into a frenzy.
In any case, with pre-production on The Flash now beginning to heat up, we should learn more soon. But between this and the rumored return of Cyborg, it sounds like we’re in for something special. Now they just need to sort out the Ezra Miller situation…

The Lord Of The Rings’ Peter Jackson Shares Touching Tribute To Ian Holm
On Friday, British actor Ian Holm, whose career spanned nearly 60 years, passed away at the age of 88. Of course, younger fans will always know him from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy where he played Bilbo Baggins.
Jackson took to Facebook to pay tribute to the late actor shortly after his death, sharing a personal anecdote from their time making the original trilogy and also wrote about how he was able to get Holm out of retirement to appear in The Hobbit films.
“Over a decade later, we hoped that Ian would play Bilbo again for the opening scenes of The Hobbit,” Jackson recalls. “Fran and I had dinner with Ian and his wife Sophie in London, and he told us that he was very sorry, but he couldn’t do it. Adding to our shock, he confided that he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and could no longer remember lines. He had difficulty walking, and certainly couldn’t travel to New Zealand. Always a private man, he told us that he’d basically retired, but wasn’t announcing it.
This was a blow because we had worked out a nice way to hand the role over from Ian as Old Bilbo, to Martin Freeman as Young Bilbo. I described this to him, and he liked it. I also told him how my mother and an uncle had both endured Parkinson’s for years, and I was very familiar with the effects of the disease.”
“At this point, our dinner – which we thought would be about us describing the new scenes we’d like him to do, and Ian thought would be about him explaining why he couldn’t do it – suddenly turned into a think tank, with Ian, Sophie, Fran and I trying to figure out a process that would allow Ian to play Bilbo one last time. We’re shooting the movies in New Zealand – but what say we came to London and shoot his scenes close to home?
By the end of the dinner he nodded slowly, and said, ‘Yes, I think I could do that’. But I knew he was only doing it as a favour to me, and I held his hands and thanked him with tears in my eyes.”
Despite just one Oscar nomination for Chariots of Fire, Holm had a very prolific career in television, theater and film. A quick glance at his IMDb page shows numerous projects even in his later years. In 1999 and 2000 alone, he had 14 acting credits. The man truly loved his craft and he played everyone from Napoleon (three times, by the way) to a Nazi to a reverend. His versatility also allowed him to act in many different genres, including but not limited to sci-fi, fantasy, action, horror and drama.
Besides The Lord of the Rings, his most memorable role was playing Ash, the android who turns on his fellow crew members in Alien. In fact, this part might sum up his entire career. He was a classic character actor who worked well in an ensemble and whose talent enabled him to rise above and play a key role in a major film.
Despite his small stature and quiet demeanor, the actor certainly had a screen presence. He’s one of those talents who you perhaps took for granted when he was working and now that he’s gone, you realize the brilliant nuance of his performances.
RIP Ian Holm, you will certainly be missed by many.

Mark Hamill Says He Has Secret Cameos In Nearly All Star Wars Movies
Thanks to the finale episode of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, we just found out that Mark Hamill had a cameo in the first season of the hit D+ live-action series, as the voice of the EV-9D9 droid in episode 5, “The Gunslinger.” It was a pleasant surprise to discover that the Luke Skywalker legend was involved in the show, but now Hamill has decided to drop an even bigger bombshell: that he’s got even more cameo appearances scattered throughout the Star Wars saga that we had no idea about.
In response to a fan asking him if he had any more secret roles to divulge on Twitter, Hamill decided to come clean. “Now that @themandalorian secret is out-might as well reveal I am vocally represented in ALL SW films except the Prequels,” Hamill said. “Thanks to @matthewood for using me in Rogue One, Solo & the Sequels, so I DO have lines in #EpVII. Hint: Look for parts played by Patrick Williams.”

Well, how about that! We already knew of a few of these, actually, as it’d already been confirmed that Hamill had voiced Canto Bight gambler Dobbu Scay (the one who thinks BB-8 is a slot machine) in The Last Jedi and alien Resistance informant Boolio in The Rise of Skywalker. Some of the others come as surprises, though. Handily, the actor’s given us a clue to crack his other cameos, as they’re credited under the pseudonym Patrick Williams.
Hamill has stated that he’s done playing Luke now, seeing as Rise concluded the Skywalker saga with Rey laying Luke and Leia’s lightsabers to rest in the sands of Tatooine. However, it sounds like it’s very possible that he’ll be invited back for a cameo every now and then in subsequent Star Wars movies. It just might take us a while to find out about it afterwards.
